I think I found your 3lbs sugarbaby I have just stood on scales and I'm 3lb on. But my drinking of liquid has been rubbish last few days so I'm hoping that some of that is water weight and now I'm back drinking water it will come off easily enough.

Back on the waggon today as they say - had quite a bit of water today so will keep going with that too ...

Sitting in my garden,on my posh fancy pants recliner deck chair, sipping coffee and just soaking up a few Ray's. Ok I'm wearing a big thick coatigan and have a blanket over my knees but it's sunshine right.....:rotfl:

Actually I'm resting my back again, went shopping this morning, maybe a mistake.......

However I did pick up some fab bargains from the Chazzer.......a dressy gold/champagne coloured jacket £7 which is a perfect match for one of the dresses I bought for £20, so perfect for the registry office.

    What do you mean cheapskate......:rotfl:

I wonder how many mothers wear charity shop schmuter to their offsprings Nuptuals. My boys think it's hilarious but secretly I think they admire me for my thrift shop chic.

I also picked up a rose pink hat, might wear that with the grey dress, not decided yet. I also bought a red midi length skirt and then.....joy of joys - a cream woollen cape trimmed with fur. Perfect for film premieres......:rotfl: brand new, Italian and an absolute steal at £5. It's so beautiful I just couldn't stop grinning.

Apparently they had only just put it out.

The staff are lovely and I have been taking a lot of our decluttered items there. Today I took DS2s stuff, an evening dress suit, a beige summer weight suit, jacket, half a dozen nice shirts and several pairs of black trousers, all hardly worn because he lives in jeans.

Or he did........apparently he's going to "rethink his style" watch this space. He has been trawling the Internet, getting ideas for a wardrobe revamp.

He's chanelling "James Bond" at the moment.:rotfl:

My test results are all in and all is good, nothing nasty. Blood sugars and cholestrol are responding well and coming down. Still some digestive issues but I saw a different GP who seems far more on the ball. Unlike the other one who was so patronising and rude she treated me like an equal and took time to take a proper medical history rather than just fobbing me off with meds I cannot tolerate. I feel I can trust this one.

Aiming for a nice leisurely weekend, a bit of Kondoing and a bit of domestic godessing.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter break. (Sorry but I don't think the weather is set to be up to much).

Maman, how did you get on with your stuff from tu?

LL - I agree, lovely to see some sunshine even if not very warm.

  • LL I know exactly what you mean about wearing charity shop attire to posh dos! My youngest got a bursary for a public school, the graduation ball/dinner was very, very grand. I had nothing appropriate, but entire outfit was scoured from the charity shop in the previous few weeks.

'Old gold' coloured raw silk evening dress
Cream evening shawl with gold thread running through it
Gold and chocolate open toe heels
Cream and gold evening bag, handmade in India with mirrors and embroidery

My hubby borrowed a tux from a friend who is a performer for a living and same size. We were both actually complimented for looking so well turned out - if only they knew!

My hubby also went through a re think of his style a couple years ago. He is very slim and has always been very self conscious about it. He started allowing our teen girls to advise him on what to wear and has found the younger style of slim fitting clothes, and slightly more edgy colours suits him. A case of using his slimness and playing on it, rather that fighting it and trying to hide it, as well as being a bit more daring in his style.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

I used to love Charity Shop buying for bargains, especially for special occasions but here in London, the prices in Charity shops have risen too steeply and now I stick to finding great bargains on eBay. No where else can I buy a pair of leather Van Dal Shoes new for less than £5 including the post and packaging. They were being sold for £75 at the time elsewhere.

I have a family christening to attend on the 1st May and I have so many outfits, matching shoes and handbags to choose from.

Interesting about your husband redefining his style. My son is another "Slim Jim" - 6ft 3" beanpole who, when stripped off, looks like an advert for Oxfam......not that I see him stripped off these days, he's very self conscious about being so thin so keeps covered up.

He always found that suits hung off him but like you say the current trend for slim fitting suits and jackets really helps.

Love the graduation outfits, the gold and cream sound very elegant.

I have to say I have enjoyed taking my time shopping for outfits, browsing round the chazzers and outlets. Whilst I don't think I'm a cheapskate I felt very strongly that I did not want to spend £300 or so on a typical mother of the groom outfit that I would only ever wear once, especially as I have three seperate ceremonies to dress for, plus a raft of family dinners, lunches and get togethers. etc.

I have never bought so many clothes in one season before. I think I will be "shopping from my wardrobe" for years to come. :rotfl:

My back pain is still not easing so once again I will take it easy. Very frustrating though and am feeling very fed up now. Stocked up on high strength voltarol, paracetamol and heat pads so will just have to ride it out.

I have to nip out to the little shop for milk......the walk will kill or cure:rotfl: but fortunately I have loads of food in and my diary is clear for next week so no real worries. AS my husband used to say "there's nothing spoiling so just take it easy".

How i miss him still. We always had a great time at Easter, spending lots of family time and having fun.

We will have a nice family get together tomorrow. I have filled the house with flowers, bought lots of nice goodies to eat - we will make the best of things.

I have never bought clothes online, I'll have to give it a go.

Sugarbaby I always love the descriptions of your outfits, you seem to have real fun with your clothes.

Not fabbed here today, very fatigued - a combination of 4 nights poor sleep, did rather too much in the garden yesterday (but so enjoyed it:D) and just 3 more sleeps until my B12 injection. In spite of feeling rather yuk I am quite pleased as I usually run out of steam 2 weeks before injection, I have been taking the necessary supplements and adding B12 patches and sub lingual tablets for the last 3 weeks:D

Lunch out with some of the family tomorrow, so no cooking to do:j

Received some new eye make up from a company specialising in make up for mature ladies, have been watching lots of their tutorials, I will start experimenting tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a happy Easter and hope that it is not too hard for those whose circumstances have changed, I know that the first year or two after bereavement and family break down are particularly hard, sending virtual hugs. xx

Hello Ladies, I have had a great weekend. My 2 sisters came to London from Birmingham for a couple of nights. On Saturday night, despite lots of rain and wind we went out for a night of dancing.

I wore my black Autograph velour skirt and black velour Autograph vest top embellished with large black beads around the neckline on the front of the top. I wore my low heeled black patent leather Van Dal slingbacks with a cut out gold design and wore lots of real gold jewellery and my gold plated Tissot watch. Slingbacks are not practical in this kind of weather, but I do not own sensible shoes and my knee length leather boots make my feet too hot when I am dancing in them. I wore black mascara, iridescent gold Maybelline eyeshadow (bought this weekend in my local Poudland :)) and shiny clear lip gloss. I layered my Red Door perfume and matching powder, body lotion and body cream cleanser.

I got lots of attention that night from men, 5 of them to be exact and one of them was a particularly great dancer, so all in all I had a really fun night. :j It was particularly ego boosting, as at 16 stones, I am hardly slim and toned yet. I do try to enjoy myself when I go out, once I know that I have made the best of myself and regardless of size and shape, confidence is attractive and draws other people to you. :j

I went to Karaoke last night and had another great night. I sang 3 songs; Return to Sender by Elvis, Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan and Fever by Peggy Lee. I wore a Kaleidscope sleeveless dress in navy blue, green and white, with my Kaleidoscope short sleeved beaded navy blue cardigan and my new navy blue patent leather slingbacks, with gold jewellery and my gold plated Tissot watch. I also added my faux Murano glass leaf shaped pendant which has swirls of blue, green and gold to the gold chain I was wearing as it matches the dress perfectly. :T

I am off to Birmingham to visit my sisters and other family tomorrow, so getting the whole home clean and tidy before I leave. I have had a lovely Easter with my son and daughter. Hope everyone else had a Good Easter.

    Lovely post Sugarbaby.

I keep thinking about going dancing but I'm so unfit and my back is a real problem. I know that being more active would actually help my back in the long term and that I just need to break that vicious circle.

What kind of dancing do you do. My friend who is also a newish widow in Devon goes to Ceroc, she says you can just go along without a partner. Anyway I have googled it and we have one in Derby on Monday nights. I will ring them tomorrow and make enquiries and aim for next Monday night, hopefully my back should be easier by then.

I had a little spend, bought two new nail polishes and some Clarins beauty flash balm - still looking rather washed out and that really helps.

Other than that no real news. Had a lovely time with the boys and DIL elect yesterday but TBH I have struggled a bit this Easter. I have really missed my OH for some reason. The last few weeks seem to have bought another layer of sadness - a feeling of emptiness and perhaps a feeling of "is this it, is this the rest of my life". Probably it's just the "next stage" of the grieving process.

    Don't get me wrong........I'm not looking for a man:rotfl:

I have got the Nuptuals to look forward to and summer is on its way. I'm sure I'll get over it when I'm able to get out and about a bit more.

As soon as my back gets a bit easier I'm going to book some treatments, hair, chiropodist, etc.

Today I'm going to do a fridge and freezer Sort out and make an inventory. We've got lots of food in, so I think I will make April a thrifty use up month.

I will spend the money I save on some treats....:rotfl:
