I'm home alone until Wednesday night as DH is away for work for the first time n a month. I'm also taking the week off work next week in an attempt to rebuild my resilience following losing both of my in-laws late last year.
I have a list of tasks, including a thorough wardrobe-sort and several CS runs with already evicted items. I also need to get an idea of outfits for DS1s wedding in September so am having a day out in Manchester for a personal shopper session at HoF. I will take some heels with me, and make sure my hair & makeup are all done well for that.
My work wardrobe needs some attention too - some of my dresses are showing bobbling just above my bust from my id badge lanyard, I have to wear the badge but need to find a snap-off lanyard that doesn't have as many break points to rub my clothes! I have a pile of cardis I don't wear too, and shoes which aren't comfy enough now. I'll have been in this job 2 years in April so the time is right for a sort out & cull! I have a rota system for my dresses, always putting them to the back as they go back on the rail, with a few being worn less due to their fit & my current weight.
Right, am off for my shower, to feed the cat & trot off to work. See you all soon! :wave:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi all I'm back on the fabbing wagon
I defurred, exfoliated and moisturised yesterday after not feeling well enough to do anything for weeks and am feeling much more human.
I'm getting close to my 10,000 steps a day goal again as well and hoping to fit some yoga in this week. I'm still taking things easy as I just don't have the energy but am planning to restart my C25K in the next week hopefully. I'm wearing my favourite outfit again today, it always makes me smile and is so comfy.konMarie and fabbing all the way

Well Ive just received my test results....
Pretty much what I expected. Border line diabetic and sky high cholesterol.
It's up to me to turn these round so here goes.
Time to get a grip. I will work out a plan of attack. I'm not taking this lying down.
Floss - sounds like a good idea for you to take some time out. It's been a tough time for you. Some "me" time will do you good. Stress and grief early take their toll.
I actually broke down in the doctors.......coming up to my husband's birthday and the anniversary of mum's death.
You think you are doing ok but it doesn't take much to knock you back again. I still feel fragile and vulnerable at times, and of course, heaving health niggles doesn't help.
Anyhoo....... It's a nice sunny day so going to go for a walk. Going to try and go a bit further today. Then finish off the kitchen cupboards - I ran out of steam yesterday.
Lolly - I wish I was half as fit as you.0 -
LL - rotten news regarding the test results, but at least now you know you have the chance to do something about the problems.
I agree that after bereavement it sometimes doesn't take much to send you back down to ground zero. I remember after the death of our angel GD, there were times when I had been having an ok day and then suddenly while driving home I would find myself sobbing my heart out, having no idea at all what had triggered it at the particular moment. Loss never goes away, but if we are lucky the intensity of the pain diminishes as time goes on.:)
Got my results today too, the Ferritin is back at a level just above the lower level suggested by my illness's support group, but at first glance I seem to be more anemic in terms of folate and hemoglobin:, lots of possible causes, some of which have already been investigated, so on we go....... Received a referral to a consultant at the big hospital some 60 miles away, good news and bad news, good to try and get things checked out, but bad that I cannot get travel insurance whilst under investigation prior to diagnosis and we so want to go on another cruise, having had to cancel one last October for those very reasons:(:(
We can cheer each other along in our quest for good health and energy, I too am reviewing diet and supplementation (absorption issues).
Lots of great fabbing going on ladies, but virtual hugs to all that are poorly or struggling with motivation, hang on in there, we will try and support each other.:DThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
maddiemay - I've been told that next step in my iron deficency (low ferritin, but folate & haemoglobin are fine) is to look at vit C supplementation rather than iron, as the idea is that vit C should increase absorption. makes sense, so hopefully worth a try. I just wish they'd stop having the gaps to see what happens when it's left to it's own devices. I know what will happen, but you have to wait for the test results, which usually come after the symptoms...0

Thanks LL it would have been my mums 86 birthday Saturday just gone (d. 2005) and its my dads anniversary on 13 March, 25 years this time so I get what you mean about those dates. Throw in Mothering Sunday and mine & the boys' birthdays in late March & early April and its a rough period for me.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Re those on iron supplements, I was always advised to take my tablets wth a glass of orange juice to aid absorption as the Vit.C helps the iron "stick" in your system2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

They're now saying drop the iron supplements and just do the vit C.
I hate orange juice. I'd rather have broccoli(I do draw the line at kale smoothies though... I've had one, and it's enough for a lifetime...)

Kale is an acquired taste.......:rotfl: I can manage small doses but could probably exist quite happily without it.;)
Re this mornings test results. I am actually quite relieved, I thought the diabetes would actually be properly established by now, not just borderline, given both my genetic inheritance plus my bad habits over the last five years or so.
i think I have been lucky, either that or my relative care in the past has helped. My mum became full blown diabetic during her 40s so, given that I am only borderline at nearly 65, I consider that I am a good 20 years ahead of the game.
Getting glucose down to safe levels should be relatively easy. The cholesteol might be more problematical. I don't want to take statins so I need to make the necessary life style changes. I just need to learn how, GP wasn't very clued up.
I'm not going to Panic. Dad had his first heart attack when he was 55 so again I've done a lot better, gaining 10 years.
Anyway I'm going to do some research and get cracking. The sooner I get it sorted the better.
I still need to have some scans on my abdomen and pelvis to see what's going on. My GP admitted she is looking for cancer but I am not going to worry. Ke Sara and all that.worrying won't change the diagnosis.
Kitchen cupboards and shelves on the cellar steps finally finished. DS2 helped me in the end because I was beng a bit indecisive - he was ruthless.
Minimalism here I come........:rotfl:
Just going to give myself a manicure whilst I rest and then cook a Nice healthy dinner.
Tonight I will start my cholesterol research, any tips and advice will be graciously accepted.:D0
