You're doing brilliantly, sugarbaby:T
Back from running DS2 to school, walking dog and various errands.
I've apparently not learned from yesterday as I'm rather unfab today, too:o
In my defence, it's wet and muddy out so old jeans and boots were called for! But I'm definitely not looking my best!!!
I have to confess that I've not still not kicked the unhealthy snacking habit and I've put on 3lbs since leaving work, which I really, really couldn't afford to do:eek::mad:
Whilst I'm in the confessional, I should say that over the past few months I've got back into the very bad habit of a glass or two of wine on several week nights - something I hadn't been doing for ages; I'd have a couple at weekends but not through the week.
It's not helping with the weight, and it stops today!
I've decided that I can kid myself all I want but I'm not going to win the battle of the bulge on my own! I'm joining the local WW group this week but will be doing it secretly to see if my nearest and dearest notice any difference!
I would go for SW as I know so many have been successful with it - particularly maman who always inspires me to want to lose weight:), but WW is a bit closer to me, and I know that their new plans are quite similar to SW.
I think my weight has such an effect on my self image, as well as my mood - not to mention my health, so it's really time to take action!0 -
Well done sugarbaby on the weightloss! Great idea to have a treat when you get to a stone and what a bargain!:money:
Sounds like you have a good plan ellsbel. I think you're very wise to take control of the wine and the snacking before it gets out of hand. When I first joined SW, my DH was the only person I told. I needed to do that because he makes breakfast every day and I had to rejig what I have as previously we had too many croissants, pancakes and muffin type things. It can take a while for anything to be noticeable. Keep us posted!
I'm off this afternoon to have my eyebrow wax and hopefully my nails done. I've got an appointment for the eyebrows but nail shop is better for just walk-ups. I need to buy new mascara (Benefit one I've been promising myself) before the weekend but I'll have to go to city centre for that so need to find the time.
I'm keeping well up with fabbing. I'm wearing old jeans too as the weather's murky but will smarten up later for dancing.
It'll soon be Spring!!:)0 -
Good morning everyone,
Sugarbaby. I agree you are doing fantastically well. And enjoy your MSE Meal out, sounds like a great bargain.
Ellsbel - I think if you are struggling then joining a weight loss support group is an excellent idea. I think WW has gone more towards the SW one so I think you will be fine. I think they are all pretty much "singing from the same hymn sheet" these days.:rotfl: lol hate that expression.......but I think they all now extol the virtues of healthy eating and exercise.
Re the well groomed relative. Don't let her overwhelm or depress you, be inspired by her.
I get my blood test results tomorrow. I know a lot of the tests have been to rule out stomach cancer but she has slipped in some for cholesterol and insulin readings.......hmmmm - we will see.
Given my genetic Inheritence I have a nasty feeling I'm going to get a lecture because I have not been as careful this last couple of years as I should have been.
In my defence I have been dealing with IBS and GORD so it has all been a bit hit and miss. Anyhow my understanding is that the 5:2 diet has been rcommended to both reduce cholesteol levels and improve insulin function so I think that next week I am going to try again.
For me I think it's best if I follow the 5:2 plan when I know I can eat at home. This week won't be a very good week to start because I have a lot on, however I am now firmly back on the Paleo. I have also cut right back on dairy and have switched to lacto free dairy products. I think it might be working - my tummy finally seems to be settling down at last.
This morning I have had a good old pamper session, face mask, pedicure and some industrial strength body moisturising. I am paying particular attention to my feet, knees and elbows. They need some serious TLC to get summer ready. :rotfl:
Going to finish the kitchen declutter later but first a stroll in the sunshine.
Ps meant to mention......I burnt my wrist the other day on the oven. Now that the scab has healed (sorry if that's tmi) I have now started to use bio oil on the wound. The results are nothing short of astonishing.
I was rcommended to use bio oil after my skin cancer surgery. The scar is almost invisible.
Anyway when rqding the bottle I noticed they mention it is also good for "reducing the signs of aging" - apparently working to minimise wrinkles so now I have startd using it at night and when I'm just pottering around the house.
I'm alternating bio oil with the aldi caviar cream. I find the caviar cream is a bit too strong for my skin to use daily so am trying it every other day.
Maman - I know you had problems with aldi cream and your eyes so I am using my dermologica eye cream - extending it slightly over the upper cheeks where I am particularly sensitive and then applying the bio oil and caviar creams around that to try and avoid the areas where most creams usually aggravate my skin. Basically avoiding the skin over the boney eye socket area and the top of the upper cheeks.. Seems to be working ok at the moment.0 -
Just a quick question regarding suncream
How much do you take for a fortnight away? I am going to buy it in batches over the next couple of months however I have no idea how much will be needed per person :undecided
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Are you flying........
I know they have restrictions on liquids. (Terrorism). It might be better to check with your airline or airport to see what they allow.
I have often seen our local airport confiscate things like that. Plus of course several bottles will weigh quite a bit and eat into your baggage allowance.
When I used to go to Spain regularly I just used to buy all that kind of thing there. It was no dearer and TBH they had some ranges of things that I actually preferred. I used to get a fabulous body lotion which contained olive oil. It smelt wonderful and at just 1euro for a litre bottle.
Nowadays most European destinations sell most things things like toiletries and sunscreen fairly cheaply.
Now if I'm flying I just buy those small travel sized plastic bottles bottles and containers and transfer enough for a few days. I also save up any sachets of products that come my way.
That's the beauty of cruising or rail. No weight restrictions or worry about airline anti terrorism protocols.
One thing I will say is to take a "Red Cross" box of comfort and OTC
Meds.........painkillers, bite and sting relief, travelers tummy meds, anti histamines, all that kind of thing. They cost a lot more than they do here and aren't always easily available.0 -
Rummer - I poked about online (googling is my favourite!) and found that apparently 40ml per person per day is a good amount to estimate by. So per person per fortnight - 560ml per person.
Floss - You mentioned you used serum. I have been poking about in the toiletries my mum has given me over the years and I realised that she has given me a serum. When I put it on my list in the Not Buying Unnecessary Toiletries thread I counted it as a moisturiser as that's what I thought it was. But you used it before moisturiser and on the bottle of mine it says to use before cleansing (which doesn't make sense as surely it then gets washed off?). What is serum for? I have started using it before moisturising but I don't actually know what it is supposed to be doing!
Sugarbaby - You really sound like you're on a roll - go you!
Really enjoying reading about people's fabbing and decluttering.
Coppers - hope you are feeling rested after being tired out the other day. I get like that so often - I'm on my day off today and it feels so good I wish I could feel like this every day!
I went out for a meal yesterday with friends and I actually wore a dress! I have also completed step one of my plan. I've bought a pair of grey jeggings on ebay and a silly slouchy maroon sweatshirt with the slogan "Mermaids don't do Homework" on it. I know that doesn't sound very glamourous but I think it will be an improvement on my fluffy dressing gown.
Here's my new morning facial routine:
Face wash, toner, serum, moisturiser, lip balm. I'm also plucking a hair from each eyebrow each morning and one from each side of my lip. I'm hoping this little and often will keep on top of it without big sessions of pain and redness.
It all makes me feel groomed even if it's not doing much.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100 -
You can only take liquids in containers up to 100ml in hand luggage, and they all have to be in the clear bag with a 1l capacity. You can buy sturdy zip-closure cosmetic bags, and most airports are OK with these (although T2 at Heathrow for some bizarre reason always insist you use their ziploc sandwich bags).
You can take as much liquid as you like in your suitcase, but wrap it well as pressure changes can result in leaks.0 -
Hedgesparrow mine is the No.7 protect & perfect intense skin care, I use the serum before my moisturiser as that's what I've always done
I think it says that on the bottle but as I have to take my specs off to put it on I never read the bottle!

Ooh thanks for that Greenbee.0

That's OK. I carry an amazing amount of crap in my liquids bag (including my electric toothbrush). I think they're usually surprised how much I can fit in there... but in 6 years of using the same bag it is ONLY T2 that object and say you have to use theirs. The rules are actually around volume and the back has to be transparent and resealable. A zip makes it resealable.0
