Rant---M & S sale

Meanwhile, back in the real world......people actually have things to worry about!
Did you misunderstand the purpose of this forum when you started reading it?
When you read "Praise, Vents and Warnings" did it enter your head as "Discussion only about Global Castastrophes"?
Or did you appoint yourself sole arbiter of the threshold of acceptable posts?0 -
Can anyone help, can you instore , exchange paper m&s gift vouchers for a gift card to buy stuff online?, obviously you cannot buy online with paper gift vouchers, I asked 3 members of staff today, even their bank instore, and customer services and all looked dumbstruck, this was at westfield stratford , and being honest , most of their sale stuff instore was crap , way overpriced , made in china tat !! but there is some stuff online I want, that was not available at their westfield store.“When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” Socrates

buy it again and return. I do this a lot with Zara who used to do weekly price dips, so I kept buying the same thing four times until I got it for next to nothing.
M&S aren't that quick though. although it did it recently on their one day 20% off the sale. I just bought the whole parcel again and returned the original when I picked up the new lower priced ones.0 -
You would have saved even more money if you hadn't bought it in the first placeVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0

Right so having taken out a M&S. Sparks card, they gave me priority
viewing of their sale with selected items at 50% off.
Purchased a few things only to find that they are now selling them at 60% off.
Yes I know I shouldn't have looked today but I did and I'm not happy.
Rant over.
The clue is "priority viewing" not "buy at the cheapest price that we are ever going to sell this item".0 -
Right so having taken out a M&S. Sparks card, they gave me priority viewing of their sale with selected items at 50% off.... Purchased a few things ...I'm not happy. Rant over.
At least you found something to buy via 'Sparks'... I'm so loyal to M&S (I use the local 'Simply Food' as my corner shop) that if I was a stick of rock*, and you broke me in half, I'd have 'St Michael' ** running through me...
But since getting my Sparks card, and apart from the initial offer of 10% off food for 10 days, I have been bombarded with totally useless and irrelevant 'tailored offers', emails and suggestions.
Discounts on creamcakes? Sushi? Skincare products? (none of which I've ever eaten, used or bought in the past 60 years at M&S), and yesterday, the emailed suggestion that I hook up with an 'exercise buddy' or buy a rowing machine to get back in shape!
I wouldn't mind, but all these ideas, suggestions, promotions, offers, emails, plastic cards and back-up systems must employ an army of concept, copywriting, marketing and IT people - and cost an arm and a leg... I'd rather they just saved the money and dropped the prices.
They ought to sack the CEO for letting the idiots wag the dog...
... oh, hang on a minute... they just did (sorry Marc Bolland, you seem a nice guy). Anyway thanks to Forever21 for letting me add my rant to yours.
Gotta stop now... People say I should get out more so I'm popping round to M&S to see if they have any creamcakes or sushi.
And a footnote for our younger readers:
* rock = traditional sugary rod of pink sweet stuff they used to sell at the seaside
** St Michael = the brand name of most M&S garments before they started buying everything in from third world sweatshops and diversifying into so many sub-brands that you can't find anything in the shops0
