  • I love de-cluttering and hope to carry on in 2016.:j

I have done a quick sort through my kitchen this afternoon and tossed out a few out of date items. I rearranged the things in my units and wiped the cupboard surfaces down.

  • Thank you for this thread. I have accumulated far too much "stuff" so would like to declutter. I keep far too much paper - leaflets, bits cut from magazines etc, so I think I will aim for 2016 pieces of paper in 2016. I also have too many books, craft materials and toiletries. They will be disposed of gradually and I will not buy more until I have used what I have "in stock". Looking forward to getting started now.

I'm in this year. I have been good this last year and decluttered a load of books, but my aunt died in June and I got quite a lot of extra clutter from her house, which I need to sort through and only keep what's necessary. As an Executor I've still got all her paperwork cluttering up my desk, so hopefully that will all go once it's finally all been settled. I have to declutter under the stairs, and the eaves this year.

ETA - I went to buy a new sewing pattern the other day and came out with a new sewing machine too :o I've now got three! (my own old one plus my aunt's even older one which is solid metal and weighs a ton). I'm going to sewing classes at the moment and my sewing teacher said she'd buy mine off me (I'll just give it to her as the other option was going to be the dump or freecycle). Not sure about the old New Home one though. Possibly just take it to the dump - someone will give it a home I'm sure)

  • Happy New Year everyone and thank you for the new thread Sa1sysoo. I'm in for 2016 please, I am mostly decluttered now, but the battle to keep things that way is constant and I still have a few areas to do/plans in mind. A house and life without clutter represents calm for me, so it's worth the work! Also, it's so much easier to run a house with less stuff!

  • Hi :-) I am new to posting (but a long-time lurker) and I would love to join you this year.

I have a serious amount of clutter and since I have to move from my chock-full two-bed bungalow in little over a month and the best-case scenario will be into a one-bed flat, I have a lot of work on my hands  I have always wanted to get decluttered but I have had various personal problems in the last few years that have made it difficult. I am also coming to the realisation that I am a hoarder. But new start, new home, new me! That's the plan...

Anyway, hi! And happy new year to all

Welcome Clutterbug Rosie. As you can see from my sig, I know what it's like to be a lurker! I've been here 10 years, but haven't posted very often at all!

They're a lovely lot on here, so we'll delurk together.

I just decluttered a £2 coin from hubby's bedside table... which fits in nicely with my other challenge!
Don't think I'll count that in my 2016, though!
