2016 - No Clutter To Be Seen

Options
To use Guineapigsqueaks wording, "A new thread for declutterbugs in [STRIKE]2015[/STRIKE] 2016!" :j

I'm going to aim to get rid of 2016 items in 2016.
There are some lovely tips on the KonMari thread here, set up by the talented greent: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5385103

Of particular note is post 4 of where you can get rid of unwanted items:

That unwanted pens one is going to be a life changer for us!

:D Welcome one and all and happy decluttering! :D

I'm renting a one bed flat with a walk-in wardrobe as my parents' house is on the market and they're downsizing. I've had to bring my old wardrobe with me as the aforementioned one is full of boxes of clutter.

Old textbooks (some valuable, some junk), CDs (most of which I can legally listen to free digitally), videogames (retro games are a passion of mine so that might be tricky), mostly redundant but sellable (and in two cases quite valuable) music equipment, board games, books, the usual fare.

My mission for 2016 is to have nothing but clothing, a Hoover and an ironing board in there by the end. Everything else should have a purpose and a place.

    Thanks for starting this:)

I really need to declutter and hopefully this will give me the motivation. The trouble with having a house with a lot of storage is that it's easier the put things out of site and then forget about them.
  • Hi can I join again please, only joined in October 2015, I have lots to declutter in 2016 as we are hoping to move house mid year. Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and here's wishing everyone a peaceful, healthy and happy new year x

Hiya Walnut, I know that feeling! We went from a one bed flat to a three bed house and yet we seem to have no more room!
I do ask myself, where did all this stuff come from! :o

Welcome Rossi4658, come on in! I'm making it a resolution to declutter in 2016.
Here's wishing a Happy New Year to you and yours

Thanks for the welcome. Wishing you a Happy New Year as well and hopefully we'll all be here in a year's time saying how well we've all done with decluttering:T
  • Thank you for this thread. I am surrounded by clutter. We moved over 2 years ago and have yet to finish unpacking. My Father moved with us , so I have most of his stuff too. We are lucky to have a large walk in attic, but it is full of mainly junk. I want it as a craft room, so my aim is by this time next year I will have it organised.
Now Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j
