I have no love (think Small Claims) for them but they can choose how they want to identify you etc. They are making you an offer, you don't like it then you can walk away.

    If you read this

Also people applied for a BT credit card what they got is non BT card
    A week later, another letter.

They asked the people to certify to the post office. But then got returned that it was not certified correctly. They have no record of having received people documents.

Unfortunately, it is not as simple as you said ....

    This is about incompetence ...
Also what about the redmark on people credit file as mentioned by GingerBob ....

.... But there's a problem with the approach of this idiot company. They don't tell you up front in big red letters (as far as I know) that you will have to go through the stupidity of certified documents before you can open an account. ......

You don't. My experience is somewhat diametrically opposed to the whingers above. I applied during the week before Christmas.
By 31st December I had received four letters by post:
    - acceptance letter
    - credit card
    - PIN
    - Security number
When I checked my other CC balance they had already done the balance transfer too.

Top marks for 100% excellent service. :T
But then I don't have a dodgy history . :rotfl:
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

You will never know what other people credit history looks like.
It is not necessary that the one who were asked to produce a draconian paperwork or got rejected had a dodgy history ...

I very much doubt if you had a better credit history than mine ...

I'm glad I'm not the only one that had a very positive experience with AA.

I took out a balance transfer card with them before Christmas and they were extremely efficient. Balance transfer completed within 24 hours and I had my credit card and PIN within a week.

There do seem to be one or two people who have a vendetta against AA

Another Evidence of Incompetence which just came recently
    # 3 giblet10 Old Today, 12:01 PM

"I must say I have never been impressed with them. I didn't have any hassle actually getting the card, but since then I've tried on three occasions to set up a direct debit to pay the balance in full each month. Each time they tell me it is set up but they don't take the money - so I gave up and got a Halifax Clarity Card instead.
Never argue with an idiot. Especially not this idiot because I'm always right anyway

What are you trying to achieve with this?!

They are serviced by BOI UK, who also service the Post Office branded products and have a poor reputation also.

You applied and agreed to be credit checked at that point, so your (and gingerbob's) point about an extra credit check is baseless.

Well I have mentioned it before and it is also clear on the title, it is about the incompetence, not just about extra check. If you notice the evidence of their incompetence is mounting up.

I am compiling evidence of their incompetence which spread over several threads. It is open for discussion and certainly the AA official reps are also welcomed to comments or to argue against it.

Do they actually have official reps in these forums? I think they have been awfully quite so far...

They do in this forum. But they just do hit and run. I think you know it quite well as you are also in this thread.

When people read the above thread they could notice that their incompetence is ranging from the top (e.g decision makers) to the bottom (e.gofficial reps).

Oh yeah!! I remember that thread now but totally forgotten that there was a rep replying to a comment.

Anyway, I would trust AA with my car without any second thoughts but my credit cards and money? I'll leave them to someone else..
