    I'm back!!!

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

I have a few more OS notches on my bedpost to tick off:

I made a new batch of my homemade face cleanser. It's based on Lush's 'angels on bare skin' but costs pennies to make.

Some relatives popped by to pick up some baby items for a new baby in the family. I was planning on selling them, but since I've been storing them for 2+ years, have to admit that was never going to happen. Still, I'm over the moon I can give them to loved ones.

Relatives bought some left over sweets from Xmas. I've diverted them to storage for DS' birthday in a couple of months time. We haven't decided what we are doing yet, but it will be some form of party, so iteh cheaper we can do it, the better.

I've started filling in my 2016 diary and notebook. The diary goes in my handbag and i use it to keep me organised. The notebook is for lists and OS/frugal activities.

    Welcome chanie.

Wet again here but not windy so that's a bonus. Washing has been put in the drier - too many folk here to leave airers hanging about.

Nipped out to Ald! first thing for a few veggies then went with DS2 and his GF to Asd@, he wanted to stock up on some toiletries as they are very expensive in The Netherlands. Also had a quick wizz round B&M and bought a new money tin to save my £1 a day in.

DD is coming home tonight, the rest of the visitors are going to Edinburgh for the street party, big meal planned tomorrow with friends, better get myself organised in the morning.

Sorry there are so many Mr Grumpys about, Csarina I do hope things sort themselves out soon.

I still have some Aperol (Sainsbob's is the only sm round here where I can get it)xx

thank you TA - was in Sainsbobs this morning, happened to be standing still (with my parents who were talking to an old friend) when I glanced across the alcohol aisle and spotted it! Cue one bottle, plus a bottle of fizz in the trolley. Will be trying it tonight.
  • Both of my muster grumpiest are grumpiness to each other now.

Change, welcome, I am quite new too, read bits of this forum for a very long time before I got round to signing up. I use AOBS too, did you find the ingredients easy to get?

    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your concern and kind thoughts :A,we are doing ok.Safe and sound Judi thanks .

We are drying out fairly well and I have been getting on with the clean up,though there is still rain to contend with but if it comes down again I think it will go down the hole the landslide caused.Yesterday the structural engineers started to shore up the road at the front, and get rid of the big tree that was lying partly in the hole and part across the road, and Leccy Board to deal with the electricity supply as the cable was trapped under the roots and dangling. They were working until the early hours, then some were back at 8 this morning but I have been providing a steady supply of tea and biscuits. Our reward was a lot of logs from the stricken tree, kindly put in the front garden by the tree surgeon and his digger.
I must say my heart was in my mouth when they started removing the tarmac because there wasnt a lot underneath it for half of the road and I just had visions of the driver and machine falling 100ft into the abyss.Thankfully it was fine.
The council have been round this morning to see if we need anything so we've asked for a skip or something to get rid of all the damaged stuff. Our ground floor isnt as bad as some of the neighbours as we were able to take some preventative measures, and our washer/dryer are upstairs anyway, but they would have provided microwaves if you wanted to live upstairs. They also sent a load of panto tickets so we gave those to DGS.We just found some more presents for the DGC that we overlooked in the mayhem so they can unwrap those when they come tomorrow :D
Hailstones coming down now :( feeling colder.

We've had a couple of invitations out but we daren't leave Ly1a,she's scared of fireworks anyway but the sight of the heavy plant machinery outside at the front of the garden has sent her into a dithering wreck-she's spent the last few days hiding under the table or under DS1 desk. We've just had a nice meal and we have a bottle of bubbly for later when we'll drink to a better new year for us all.At the end of the day, although its soul destroying to see the damage after we'd just finished the renovations, its just stuff & no one was hurt and my family is fine.
    Elona,glad you are safe.
    Hugs Csarina & Floss
TA hope the ABs do the trick and you feel brighter soon, you must feel weary with it all.

Thanks for caring and I wish each and everyone of you a Happy & Peaceful New Year xxx

Csarina, sorry but i have to say this....
I have tried to distance myself from what is going on, then get accused of not caring and not helping distraught grand children!! What about a distraught family who have lost a son and brother, it appears we just do not figure in anything.
It appears to me you are caring. If you didnt care you would stand up and shout and scream your demands as loud as your Grandaughter is. As i see it, you are putting your feelings aside for others. You shouldnt have to but you have.
I do not even know where the two youngest grandchildren live......their mother told my son she did not want them to have anything to do with any of us
There you go, the decision has been made. Its not down to you to track down lost relatives... let alone relatives who have been estranged for whatever reason.
.......eldest GD is the one who is causing all the aggro.......I have stopped looking at my facebook page. I am going to block her once the funeral is over. I just cannot cope with the vile vitriol that is coming from her. I will get even more condemnation for doing that. Tough.
Good for you. Sometimes you have to do whats right for you. Stands a chance things will settle when the funeral is over but personally i would distance myself as much as i could from such an unpleasant diva like person.... She needs to know manners and learn respect.

Welcome Chanie. I used to henna my hair years ago. I loved the colour and the shine it gave me but it used to give me headache just applying it. Ok, i used to leave it on for hours, practically all day if i'm honest. I used the Body shop henna blocks.

Rosy, i am so glad your ok. Thanks for letting us know how you are. I hope the tradesmen are able to put right the damage promptly. Elona, thinking of you too.

Ive had an enjoyable day. Hubby and i hit the sales at Cribbs Causeway Retail Park in Bristol. Ok we didnt buy a lot and none of what we bought was in the sales but we enjoyed the day out. I think ive talked him out of changing the car again. He thinks its cursed..... Never heard so much rubbish in my life.

Tea has been cooked, eaten and dishes washed and put away and i'm waiting to see the New Year in.

    Sleep well all.

  • Happy New Year to everyone when it arrives.

Drove back home today a much better journey - just over 4 hours. Dh & I decided to stay in. I have been a bit grumpy and we ended up arguing about sdd. I need to just not talk about her I think, as I'm still hurt about Christmas.

Glad everyone affected by the flooding is safe.

Dh uncles funeral has been confirmed as 8 January.

Hugs to anyone that needs one. Take care.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Just popping on to wish all of you a very Happy New Year. It has been such a pleasure to be part of this little community this year. We are having a quiet night in but it's lovely that we are all safe and sound under the same roof. I will raise a glass to you all at midnight and see you next year :D.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

    RR

That sounds awful, I had hoped that you would not be affected by the floods. I am about 300 metres away and uphill so not personally
    affected. Did the road collapse?
