Debt FREE thanks to YNAB0 -
Hi all
I am so so sorry that I disappeared. I got caught up in alot of family health problems and ended up being the one who had to look after everyone.
Late January my mother-in-law became quite ill and my father-in-law was also diagnosed with throat cancer. He went downhill quickly so I had to go to their house every day to cook meals, tidy, fetch medications, deal with Drs and district nurses etc etc etc.
This went on until early May when mother-in-law passed away, and then I had to organise her funeral and transfer all their household bills etc into father-in-laws name which took weeks and weeks.
Then father-in-law started having radiotherapy and chemo in Poole every day for six weeks, I had to drive him every day as my husband had to keep working (self-employed) and his brother lives in London. During this time father-in-law had to move in with us as he had a stomach tube fitted and couldn't work it on his own so I had to administer pain meds and liquid food every two hours.
We are finally at the point where he is strong enough to go back to his flat this weekend, so I have been trying to sort his flat out as mother-in-law was a hoarder and he wanted it cleaned out and sorted before he went home.
Phew.....So all in all it has been a truly horrible year so far, been really tricky trying to juggle all of that with children and my smallholding to keep going. To be honest most of my veg plot and garden looks like a jungle but that will have to wait.
Debts haven't increased but also haven't been reduced either. only minimum payments have been made and YNAB has been abandoned.
I just last weekend sat down and re-started my YNAB as was feeling very out of control with what bills were due etc.
Have just applied for another balance transfer card to get rid of my Tesco credit card and last bit of the old overdraft.
Thank you all so much for asking after me. I have missed you all terribly.
Not sure what to do about this diary. Think I maybe need to start a fresh one as its been so long since I last posted.
Hope all of you have had a better 2016 than me, lets hope the second half of it improves.
Will check back here once father-in-law is moved out this weekend and let you know what my new diary name is xxxx0 -

Hi Steph, what a rotten year you have had. Great to see you back again. Think of you often, as I have the lovely oilcloth cover in the kitchen and the little pillow cases that you made for me to remind me of you.
Take care.
