I've had a lot of house renovations going on and if the guy has quoted me a figure I expect to pay it regardless to whether he's finished early or not. It's actually a bonus if he finishes early, it means the next person to follow him can come in earlier too. Definitely make sure he gets the money that he quoted.DMP started Jan 09 £55,509.29  current balance is £21,482.49p:(0

I would agree that if the quote is accepted then that's what should be paid. Maybe if your husband is looking for repeat business then knock off a few quid. One question arises though, when we have quotes for the business they do not include a set time for the job to be done. Yes we will have chatted about how long it will take but this figure will not be on the quote nor should it be. That way there are no issues either way on the labour charge.99% of people will be expecting extras to be added rather than removed. Whilst your husband is honest he is doing himself a disservice. Print of these posts if he still needs convincing.

Definitely stick to the price quoted - as long as he is doing the job he agreed to he is paid the price in quote. *maybe* give 100 quid off for good will/repeat business but otherwise, if the job is done he gets paid!Nevertheless she persisted.0

Emergency fund 700.000 -
Hi all,
Thanks for your help, he has agreed to stick to the price as he didn't tell the customer how long the job was going to take and also the Materials are cheaper, so he is going to stick to the labour price but lower the materials cost. Hopefully then the customer will just be happy that the job is a little cheaper and finished quickly.
Very annoyingly, my brakes have been grinding alot recently so I assumed it was front brakes and bought a set while I was in town the other day (£30). Dh looked at the wheels today and told me it was the rear brakes and we also need at least 1 new disc :mad:.
So he has just had to go out and spend another £70 to get it fixed.
Yet another reason why I need a car savings fund or some sort of emergency fund.
Wish I could say that the extra £1000 from dh's job was going to be spare money but it is already spent just to catch us up with all the bills. Extremely thankful for it though otherwise we might be in the poop for quite a few months. At least this extra bonus will catch us up in January and give me a head start with then working on debt reduction and savings pots.
Miserable rainy day here today. Dh is in barn with the car, Dd is at a friends, Ds has two friends in his room gaming and I am gearing up to go and do a treatment at 4.30pm. There was the slight hope of getting two treatments this weekend but doesn't look like its happening
A friend has just text me telling me she has been to a discount card shop today and bought a whole years worth of birthday cards and is writing them all now, then she will file them and have them ready and organised. I love this idea, as long as I file them somewhere and don't forget. I pathologically HATE birthday cards and the guilt of forgetting or posting them too late. I might make a list of who I need cards for and do that too.
I almost wish there was an online business that lets you store all the birthday dates and names and sends them for you although expect this would be a very expensive way to do it.
Not much else to report. Looking forward to having a car which doesn't make horrendous noises all the time :T
Hope you are all cosy and tucked up at home out of this horrible weather.0 -
Yay for having a treatment booked! And extra-yay for getting the money for your DH's job. :j
Getting caught up on bills may not have the same "oomph" as paying off debt, but it'll make debt-busting so much easier.0 -

I do something similar to your friend. There are a couple of shops I know where you can buy 3 cards for £1, so I write a list of everyone I need to buy for and bulk buy. I also have some generic cards for when the children go to friends birthday parties. It works out so much cheaper and so much less stressful.
That reminds me, I have to get my cards for this year!!0 -
Morning Diary
Didn't do much over the weekend but it was nice all the same. I have a treatment booked for Tuesday morning :T:T. That will be £70 earned this week :j. Lets hope they keep coming in.
Tired today......Since Christmas we have slipped into going to bed too late and I have had trouble getting off to sleep lately. Usually a few pages of a book sends me straight off, but recently me head starts whirring and I have a strange nightmare where a ghostly man hovers in front of me and I kind of breath him in . I know, its horrific!!!. I had to really try to ignore the nightmare trying to start last night and even resorted to covering my mouth. (Yes I think I am going totally crazy :rotfl:).
Not a whole lot to report, tonnes of things I should be doing but tiredness is making it a real struggle. I have tidied around and now got to prep dinner as we have a very busy evening with after school football and swimming.
Hope anyone reading had a lovely weekend.
Chanie - I am definitely going to make that list of birthdays and get me stocked up with cheapy birthday cards for everyone. As I live in a very rural area if I forget a birthday it is often a £5 fuel trip in the car and an expensive £2.50 birthday card if I am dis organised. I dread to think how much that would add up to over the year

Ooohhhh that nightmare sounds awful Steph! Hope you get a good nights sleep after a busy day today xMummytogirls x0
