    Painted disks? Really?

Yep- the discs have white or grey paint all over. Once fitted, the paint on the braking surface wears through the first few times the brakes are used, leaving the paint on the edges of the disc that aren't touched by the pads.

New discs are sometimes painted with this break in coating instead of oil.

I first noticed it on the Pagid discs I put on my mk3 Mondeo a few years ago.

It means that you don't need to clean the more traditional oily anti rust stuff off.

But I am sorry I would have to witness a Ferrari garage do this first hand to believe it.

There is no way to spray anything on to a disc without some getting on the pads and calliper.

Sounds more like the Ferrari dealership was swapping discs at every service and putting on discs with the painted anti rust coating.

Out of interest who does this?

Just in case BykerSands has replied with a quote to my last post.

    I have you on ignore.

And why do you take an immediate interest in any thread I comment on?

Usually being the very next person to comment.

I wonder if you are suddenly trying to make overly positive and friendly comments?

  • Paranoid or not using ignore?

Does anyone really care that much about rusty hubs or disks? Really?

    Can't see it, personally.
I'll confess to this. The MX-5 has nice shiny alloy wheels with big gaps between the spokes where you can see the discs and hubs in all their glory. When I fitted new discs I painted the hubs and non-friction areas with black satin. It does make it look a bit less neglected. The problem was, it started raining and I never got round to doing the other side, so you have to be on the left of me to get the full effect.

    Well that is weird.

But BykerSands has posted just after one of my posts.

    Again.

It is nice and quiet with him on Ignore though.

    I recommend it for everybody.

I said above "usually being the very next person to comment"

And low and behold 7minutes passed......
  • I have had Khumo's on several cars and no issues, KU31's and lately KU39's.

They grip very very well and controllable, if you wanted to exit a bend at 70mph and still accelerating and it starts to drift its steady and controlled no sudden loss of grip. An excellent tyre for the price.

I'd agree with this, Khumo aren't a bad tyre. Especially on a car that could in no way be classed as high performance.
