Having a 'low' day today. it is also a grey day so i do think the two are linked. Despite working my purse just seems to be empty and sometimes it just gets to me. It is times like this when i stop my KD as i feel sorry for myself. I know I can get like this and will be fine.

I am not after sympathy as i know others go through it too and want to make sure people know they can go off the rails sometimes and that when you are back on track what you have accomplished, no matter big or small is a positive step.

Sometimes I think society makes us feel that we have to live up to certain expectations no matter how unfeasible they are. There is no one size fits all so do things at your own pace and pop in and lt others know how it is going as i know i find encouraging and it sees me through my lows.

:) I've often meditated on the incredible exposure we moderns have to a lot of things which we cannot have or cannot be.

Think about how life would have been pre-photography never mind pre-television. You would have been exposed to a relatively small amount of other people and other influences. You wouldn't be indulging in micro-scrutiny of other people's bodies, attire, homes, relationships, vehicles, holiday destinations, whatever and comparing them with your own.

Heck, in the age when mirrors were unreliable, blurry luxury items reserved for the elites, you might not have even been able to get a good look at your face, never mind being involved in analysing every pore and blemish and going after them with tools and an arsenal of products.:rotfl:

All of this is bound to lead to stress and discontent. There is simply too much stuff and too many choices out there, whatever we choose, we'll often fret about the options we didn't select, and whether they would have been better.

Yesterday after work, I went to choose my new glasses. A fairly limited style suits my face shape and I know exactly what it is, but it was still hard to find the best option among the literally hundreds of frames. A woman of similar age was choosing her new frames at the same time and expressed my feelings by exaperately declaring THERE'S TOO MUCH CHOICE!!!

    Amen to that, sista.

Will be heading out to archery class shortly but have been doing spring cleaning by small increments (dusting a small area at a time). Did one shelf before work and re-installed the objects after work. Will do another one tomorrow and will gradually creep around the flat doing those seldom-done jobs. Net curtain done last week, may wash the sitting room curtains this weekend, if I feel like it.

Keep gently pottering on, one and all.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Totally agree with too much choice - it means we are decision making over the smallest items. I do wonder if the rise of the Aldees and Lidlys is because there is less choice so less stress.
Managed to inventory my big freezer in the garage. I have a surplus of Blackcurrants and raspberries as I've obviously not used the previous years stash before adding last years :( I'll get rid of some by jam making - DH will be pleased! Did a little bit of sorting too so I can keep a better track.

Thanks kboss, I've got the remnants of 2 candles in glass jars in the kitchen wondering what to do to get the wax out so the glasses can be recycled. What sort of temperature is safe to put the glass in?

    Could I microwave them?

I would sit the glass jars in a bowl of warm water.

Wise words indeed, GQ. Yes the micro-scrutiny and implanted 'wants' not needs...making for endless dissatisfaction and ridiculous jealousy. Sad.

I admit I do sometimes buy things just because I like them, even though i don't need them, but I NEVER buy something because it is the fashion, someone else has one, I am scared I will look uncool without it!
I do know plenty of people feeling the pressure to exhibit conspicuous consumption and I feel very sorry for them.

Today's KM foray for a client was sorting out the contents of 2 freezers. I rationalised the drawers by coralling similar foods together and then sorting for stock rotation. Client identified several items as priority for using up and so i may be making jam next week :rotfl:

Kondo'd YS leeks with HM chicken stock into lush chicken and leek soup.

Braved the snow (was thawing by the time i left home) for my second art class. We were drawing a complicated street scene so we got extensive practise of perspective :undecided :rotfl:

Am a bit concerned about having 10 paintings to deal with at the end of the course!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I did photos, stage zillion, yesterday, thought it would be a quick and easy one hour job, no, took many hours and the mess spilled over to everywhere. Main problem was accessing photos on cd as my computer was playing up, so did a lot of scanning. I am making back up cds later today, eg one has 970 photos on it, another has complete family photos collected over 39 years, so they are precious. I printed miniature photos this time, so I can make that collage, with spaced photos in a see through frame

During the past 10 years, my husband and I made various books for the family, showing his family history and mine and ours together, we put our researched family history and ancestry in there, my mums going back to 1375 and my dads stopping dead at 1939. The whole extended family has been able to access them, I also made personal scrapbook-type small albums for each child with stages and captions from birth to adult. I also made a larger family scrapbook for both of us, summarising our lives to then. It was tremendously hard going but it got me down box by box from an initial five boxes to the books and scrapbooks with a few loose photos left

All I can suggest is that photos are sorted. I can only speak from experience, when my husband died, it was a scrabble for me to find photos and digital files. He was the professional photographer. I don`t take any more family photos, it is down to the children now. I think that konding photos is one of the hardest things to do and I was lucky in that my husband photographed every single photo and put them into digital files.

MMF- I've labelled the drawers in my freezer. Top one is meat and HM dishes. Second and third are veg fourth and fifth are bread, ice cream, puddings and fruit. I did this years ago mainly as DH cannot find anything unless it stares him in the face! It also makes things easier for me to see what stocks I have. The freezers in the garage are a different subject though!!!

I personally wouldn't. If there are any imperfections in the glass, the Jar may explode in your microwave! I'd use the double boiler method in the link below.

OH rescued some computer speakers from a cupboard to use today. They don't work, so been binned.:T Also need to do a chazzer run in the next day or two to get rid of an accumulated pile.

Kittie - photos take forever, I find it really difficult to get rid of any of the kids.

4 bags for life filled with stuff left today and was delivered to the charity shop then a trip to the parcel drop off with the last few bits of last weeks ebay session. My one last large bit of furniture is being collected and paid for at 1pm so I'll have my garage back!

DH has thoughtfully kondod his head cold to me so I shall sit at the table after lunch and start on the photo box - I did start weeding out the doubles/blurred/no idea who they are, ones a while back but I'll start again. It's only a shoe box size so not too many. Most of our photos are digital and I really do need a good few weeks to sort them. I aim to copy as I go and then each DD can have access to them on our shared drive - they're currently spread across a couple of external hard drives so will collate and get them onto one drive and in some sort of offline storage. DH was going to do it but he can't be faffed.

VJs - sounds like just the right time to get that caravan moved on before it starts becoming a drain on finances and emotions.
