Will be kondoing a tv to the electrical recycling later this week, it was our old living room one that DD2 acquired for her room when we upgraded (DH does like his tech). The control panel and ports have given up and the screen gets progressively darker each time it's turned on. I was disgusted that a flat panel tv has given up so quickly but then on reflection it is 11 years old which by today's electronic standards is ancient so it's been thanked and will go. DD1 in a fit of sisterly niceness brought her TV back fro her Uni digs for her sister to use instead. DD1 is just embarking on her dissertation and doesn't need the distraction."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

I have a confession - today i must buy not one but TWO pairs of trousersI am down to two pairs of jeans for the winter - and it just isn't enough. I already felt i was one pair down but with the bleach stain on another, I need a further pair. My change of lifestyle (to student) at the beginning of the year means i have little need for my smarter 'work' type clothes and more need for smart casual.
I have tried to source them ethically - chazzers never have my size or style as I need a long leg and the trousers / jeans i've seen here are generally in a flared style, whereas i suit straight. And the ethical stores aren't suiting either. So, with regret, i am going to N*xt...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
Sorry to hear your news Karma thinking of you all.
Well the day has started with catching the last 2 kittens but caught 3 instead so one will just have to have a day at the vets which I am sure she wont enjoy. This is the 3rd time they have been booked in as they are so clever and wouldnt go into the cage the other times :rotfl:I think one is a boy but not sure on the last one as he/she is so fluffy you just cant see any clues.;)
Lola is still around but not all the time. She seems fed up with the kittens so goes off to have a break and then comes back everyday for food. Lolly is doing well and is often seen with the kittens (but Lola chases her off if she sees her.) But the kittens and Lolly are here all the time mostly hanging around making a racket at the front door
Down at Dads today to help him do whatever needs doingHe needs a new roller blind so will sort that and fit it as the old one is broken (thank god) as its awful and for some strange reason has a corner cut off it in a ragged square shape. When I pointed it out he had never noticed it before :rotfl:And said the standard words 'your Mother must have done it' Poor old Mum blamed for all the odd things nobody knows anything about.:D
I think I am going to look at clothes when I get home from Dads and if it ever stops raining maybe go out for a run. Thinking about it I have got a new waterproof running jacket so I will try that out later on.
Have a lovely day everyone
Mav x

Thank you for the good wishes all. My brother has moved in to her house to look after her, the MacMillan nurse is checking up again today, the doctor is good about morphine prescriptions, and me and my sister are taking alternate weeks in going up there as well, though her also-elderly sister is creating havoc, just like GQ's aunt (odd symmetry here!). But my mum doesn't really want to last till Christmas ... she's 3 years short of GQ's Nan's age, so she's very elderly, but still ... its quite tough to hear that. I'm taking care of my chronic fatigue while trying to keep both my house and the spare bedroom that my sister and I share as clear as possible.
ETA - kitten news from Mavvy! Thats good2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Had to deal out some 'tough love' this morning to the girls. I hate it but know without this and boundaries being in place then life including activities as we know it won't work hand in hand. It was the old chestnut of not doing chores, plates yo the kitchen, rooms tidy.
It came to a head When we got in yesterday I told them to check all ready for school today, neither moved and carried on playing games. I carried on getting my stuff tidy and ready for the week. This morning no clean shirts etc. and I didn't give in to help like I normally do!
On a more lighter note I have put some craft stuff together to go to a tombola and got rid of projects that have been half done for over a year!! I now have a free drawer and the other three you can see clearly what's where.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Afternoon All
Am getting stuck into the decluttering etc. now, spurred on by knowing mum is coming to stay with us over Christmas (sadly, we lost dad last month). Discovered we in fact have a wooden floor in the spare room and I thought it was made of bin bags & boxes!
Anyway, met with mum and sister on Saturday for a bit of shopping and some lunch, got myself a few (four) bits for work. Then on Sunday took a BIG bagful of un-joyous clothing to M&S for recycle/reuse/sell/disembowelment.
Did more therapeutic sock/knickers/jumpers folding and putting away. Aiming for half hour or so floordrobe clearance in our room and spare room decluttering tonight - wish me luck :-)

Karma, sorry to hear about your mother.
Going back to the subject of poppies, I've been on a mammoth trip round different shops today, one of them was Sainsbury's who will recycle your poppy between 14th-27th November. Collection boxes at the customer service desks apparently (I didn't see them, only saw a sign up as I was leaving the shop so checked out online). The British Legion will either put them for re-use or will recycle them, depending on condition I suppose. So you can get rid of them guilt free.
On my trip today, would you believe it I went to two different places to shops on retail sites, and both of them had people standing in the car parks with a fire engine outside the shop. Fortunately the second one there was an alternative shop around the corner, and I've now come home with 5 new cushions and a throw, which will hopefully tone in with the new lounge wallpaper, just about to go and do battle, wish me luck!Make £2025 in 2025

Not managed to move much on at home but work is a different matter! The school I am in is being decorated, this includes all the cupboards that contain just about everything ever produced for primary education. One particularly large cupboard has been emptied into our (presently vacated) office. In order for us to get back in all this paperwork needs to be sorted. Our new headteacher is, quite frankly, brilliant - she even says thank you to the booklets she puts in the recycling bin!
It is going to take us all week to get through it but we will, especially when I get in there on my own - the bin bag is my friend!
Hugs to you KarmaKat.0 -
Well the cat loves the new throw. She's managed to pull strands out of the weave already....
Will see what OH thinks of it when he gets home on Friday, if he agrees I may have to buy another one to keep for best for when we try to sell the house (at least a couple of years away) as this one will be pretty ratty by then I think! Fortunately it was only £20Make £2025 in 2025
