Happy retirement, Kc! May tomorrow be the wonderful start to this new chapter of your life

Happy birthday Charly!x
Spent the morning at work handing out GCSE results. DS1 is currently away so I collected his early so that I could book him into VIth form before the rest of the students arrived - happy to report that he did well with 5 A*, 2 A, 4 B and 1 C - so he is safe to come back home tomorrow!Very pleased with that - he has a natural ability which he relies upon and so can cruise through a lot of things without working very hard but it appears that he did put some work in, so I must give him credit for that!
He just needs to step up to the challenge of A levels now (he wants to be a doctor, so will need 3 very good grades) With that and DD getting fab A level grades and getting her 1st choice uni last week we are a very pleased greent household
Bestie's bday today. In the spirit of kondo I have got her a kindle voucher (she had a kindle from her OH), flowers and wine :)Unfortunately we are off shopping tomorrow - am looking forward to lunch out and I may buy some bits which DD needs for uni (thrilling things such as a wooden spoon and a colander) to justify the trip without buying unwanted/ unneeded/ unjoyful items

Guys, I was born to overdo things, have a tendancy to go at life like a bull at a gate. Moderated by having ME, of course.
Spent a few hours with a mate and caught up on the gossip and ambled home. Horribly hot here, nearly 20 degrees tonight and my flat is like a wee oven, but I'll still sleep tonight.
Will be throwing some things into the wally-trolley and heading off to the folks' place after work tomorrow. Tradition is that I'm not allowed to pull stuff around on the evening, and we spend Saturday until mid-afternoon with Nan, so it'll be late afternoon before any kondo-ing can start.
Sunday is a clear day, and most of Bank Holiday Monday is available. There are so many areas which are ripe for kondo-ing that it's a job to know where to start, but I shall find somewhere, like unpicking a tangle of yarn, and yank it until something gives.:rotfl:
I shall, of course, update the thread from time to time. Hoping nothing like a mummified dead bird or turquoise false teeth will feature in this installment but you never know what you might find in that house.;) So long as it isn't capable of biting, I will consider it a good result.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Igamogam - you have reminded me I still have my pair of Jackoskates - I think I last used them when I was about15! Why am I keeping them? Probably to remind me of a time when I was agile and supple lol!!! They need to be thanked and let go. A few more bits I to the CS bag, a coup!e of !ever arch files as I've kondoed the contents still more to do though.
Hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday weekend.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Well done Greent youngsters! I spoke to 2 dear frineds this morning to see how offspring got on. Both did extremely well. It bought a tear to my eye. The 'first-time-exam-mum' said she felt sick this morning, awaiting the results!
Kondo'd a few toys to little neice and slightly bigger nephew. We had a lovely afternoon exploring round the world at Biddulph Grange garden - we visited china, egypt, a couple of tunnels, a look out point, and we saw the massive koi carp in a tiny stream leading to the lake. The weather held off just long enough, thank goodness.
I shall make up the bed shortly, using our new and very joyful mattress topper (soooo comfy and a moneysaving substitute for a new mattress).
I feel that I also need to write one of my to do lists so as to plan the tetris drawer manoeuvres tomorrow, or else I 'll get in a real pickle. Our house is so small (although prob large compared to GQ's flat), that I can't deposit stuff on the landing because it is only the size of a phonebox :rotfl::rotfl:

ETA - I did a sponsored roller- skate when I was 11. No longer have the skates but it was 40 years ago! Funny that I was never sporty but I did love roller skating.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
De-lurking
I've not read here for a while nor did I ever post much, but I saw something today that made me think of some of you ladies.
We were visiting a little model village, lovely place, but one of the horses outside a little model farm was one of those ceramic shire horses, the ones with the bent front leg that would be longer than the other one if it stretched out. Did make me chuckle.
I wondered where they'd end upBossymoo

Evening all
Bossy so that's where theyve all gone!
MMF oh I loved Biddulf gardens, have only visited once but they are lovely
Congrats to all with exam results and to those with roller skate memories - I never could use them as my balance only works with both firmly on the ground
I stayed with a friend last night and must confess to feeling a lil itchy this morning. I just wanted to help them tidy and sort and organise!! In fairness my friend did ask for tips so passed on the one about taking a photo of the room to give a fresh perspective. Sadly this didn't lead to me getting much of my own done, helping out 2 diff friends with disability forms - hadnt realised how draining they are even when its not your own. Hey ho, tomorrow is a new day etc:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Most of the day spent kondoing stuff in the garden. Every year we seem to venture into new areas and corners that we have never touched in the 26 years we have been here.....garden keeps getting bigger  Some large shrubs tackled and rendered 'managable'. Boundary thicket almost removed, with permission of neighbour, which has opened up a lovely view up the mountain and about 6 very large ferns - fronds taller than me - dug out and will be re housed if they survive at my place of work. I now have gaps which will need to be filled - * eyes light up at the prospect*. First on list is lots of spring bulbs
Still need to reduce height of 2 very tall birch trees and a rowan.......er maybe next year. Have thinned them out a bit so they can wait!
Trip to recycle centre with more hard plastic, some steel tubing from an outdoor toy long since gone, rusted through wheel barrow and some bits of conservatory roofing from when it was fixed.
DD2s A level result didn't go to plan........she passed but just missed the grades needed for university and course of choice. She has had 7 offers from other universities but turned them all down in favour of repeating the year. Most of her friends got what they wanted or have accepted clearing places. Some going to university with much lower grades than she has. She is tenacious and knows her own mind and possibly deep down a little relieved as I wonder if she felt she wasnt ready to go just yet -think she would have deferred her place had she got it. Anyway she knows she has some major kondoing to do in her room to get it organised for study once more and needs now to make everyday count in this next academic year - she works hard but needs a little bit more focus !Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

I keep the bloomin things - visualising them filled with home-grown seedlings next year - never happens, and as you say, they're brittle and don't last. I must have enough plant pots to restock Kew Gardens - and they're only in use for a few weeks each year anyway before the occupants are planted out.
I'm slightly relieved to hear that others are still making purchasing mistakes - I hardly buy any clothes these days but have still managed to get a t-shirt in a colour I don't love. Luckily it wasn't an expensive one, but note to self: I need to remember the Rule of Three. Before I buy anything I try to visualise three things (already in my wardrobe) that it will go with, and three occasions when I'll wear it.
Ooh I like the rule of 3. Many congratulations Karmacat :j:j:T:T:):)
Thanks for all your kind birthday wishes. Well done GreenT offspring and cyber hugs to MrsMP whilst you sort out and support DS.
Did manage to do a little KMING yesterday and now have a stash of magazines, one DVD, a yo yo, a hardback book and an old Filofax including spare insets to go to CS and also sorted out a folder which seemed mostly to contain magazine clippings and old fly lady stuff. Trying not to panic now I'm in the last days of holiday. You might say that. The rest of us couldn't possibly comment :rotfl:
Well done on exam results everyone :T
Have got my house back from having house guests and spent Tuesday and Wednesday cleaning. Loving having everywhere tidy and no extra stuff* around. Truly calming :T. Keep going everyone!
