Welcome, Redpanda

Mrs mp - take it easy, as advised x
Well Dd got her A2 results yesterday and is off to her first choice uni as a result next month :j That will mean that next month a load of stuff will be leaving - mugs, a spare desk lamp, a new duvet (spare and hanging around in the airing cupboard still in its bag), pots n pans etc. That will clear some space here
Took a bag of clothes recycling into H&M today and got a £5 voucher in return - will spend that with DD next week on stuff for her for uni.
Other than that, have got rid of some paperwork this week - an ongoing job hereI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

I've been very naughty and gone anti-MK. I discovered a couple of days ago that a hair product I use has been discontinued by the manufacturers. Scouting around on the net, I found it still for sale in packs of 3 on Amazon....... I ordered 5 packs. I use about 2 a year......... so this will last me ages. I know she says you shouldn't store stuff but what alternative do I have? I've wasted all sorts of money in the past trying different products. I'm at an age now where I'm not going to change my hairstyle to any great significant degree, I know what suits me and what I can do battle with on a daily basis, so I'm happy to stick with the products I know I can work with. They won't degrade, they'll just need storing.
In the meantime I'm stuck with using up a pot of something else I bought when I thought I wasn't going to be able to get my favourite product.Make £2025 in 2025

I would do exactly the same in your position. As long as you can store it and you use it, then why not? Its the buying for Justin and Andy that causes the clutter problemI am still working through our stockpile of Colg*te toothpaste which I rescued from being dumped from where I use to work...........left over 5 years ago. All in boxes and sealed. Down to our last 10 tubes now:D

Yipee! Another bag to CS, including the mugs, a rain coat that is TOO BIG, a fancy beer glass and stand (been cluttering the kitchen worktop up for at least 20 years!). Also, reduced cleaning rags to a sensible level after wrestling them out of DH hands - he hates releasing stuff but has done well today. I'll have to slow down, don't want to over-do it and put him off doing any more.
I hope to continue today's progress. Re-visited 2 more cupboards and found my water jug in its box but then thought, 'hold on a minute, I just saw the water jug in the cupboard above'. Doh, I was storing an empty box  :rotfl:
Made loads of space by re- arranging plates, bowls and the condiments.
So, hoping the woo continues into the weekend.
You are all so inspiring, thank you so much!

ETA - sorry, too much use of the word 'so' above. I really did not drink the contents of the drinks cupboard!
Bottles already in recycling, btw.I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Evening all, welcome newbies, great work going on by o's!
Hugs to those in need .
As it was raining this morning I was browsing the net, and kept looking up at the wall opposite. .... It just looked too cluttered I've had a thing with it for a while I realised.
When we bought the house 15 years ago ,I wanted wall lights so asked for 2 in the living room whilst it was being built. When we moved in I couldn't find any lights I liked so bought 2 basic ones till I could see some....
Obviously that never happened! And a couple of years ago I bought a tall shelf unit for that wall which covered 1 light so we took it off the wall ! Well today the other has gone :T
I repainted the wall put the picture that was under the light higher up so it hides the gubbins.(SAFELY) why I have never done it before I will never know I never used the bl#**y lights anyway as they gave the room a horrible glow
P.s I am also going to kondo the large ceiling light to my daughter as it hangs too low and nearly always cracks guests on the head, I have ordered a neat white shade instead.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Mrs MP I thought you were supposed to be taking it easy. TC
Going a bit out of order with the KM read 'Marley and Me' and now added it to the book pile for the CS. Just going to scan a recipe out of a cook book. Best banana bread ever imho. It is only one! Like the hair products, it sparks joy. If all those hair care products are being stored and each time you see and use them you feel good, slinky then that's very KM not anti!:D‘One of our greatest freedoms is how we react to things’ said Mole.Cross stitch cafe TaDa Enjoy the Little Things &Love cats, ‘A Year in the Life of’ HSC July-December and The Seasons graphic sampler. I think my biggest break through is shopping. I saw some plastic picnic plates in the sale. Picked them up as they were such a bargain. I had not even left the display before I put them back as i have some already and why did i really need more? Just in case of what?
At the moment I am random KD but this is making me happy and making room for when I have the mojo to tackle bigger projects. I think I will have to chip away at photos like this as this is where I came unstuck as there seems no fast way to scan and sort these.oceanspirit wrote: »Missed the chat yesterday about OS principles and KM. They do seem to clash but like many others I'm using up some older things such as teatowels and undies. Tibawo's post resonated with me in that the KM method really comes into its own in thinking properly about purchases and persuading Justin to let go.This weekend DH and I are off to Paris! He bought a G.roupon for €52 for 2 p 2 nights next to La Defense. SIL is childminding this weekend, and I'm really looking forward to a weekend away, and to show DH Paris. He has really come round to doing touristy things. He's African, grew up very poor (as in: not sure if there would be breakfast), and to him, visiting another city would mean visiting someone you (vaguely) know there, and staying with that person the whole time. He is slowly coming round to going somewhere just for the fun of it, to admire architecture, try the local dishes, enjoy nature. Always on a budget (due to his background), and I'm happy with that.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Evening all.
Dropped by my pal's junk shop on the way home from work for a visitoid and insisted on retrieving the Things from his cellar. O-M-G, what an Aladdin's Cave that it, it seems possibly centuries older than the building sitting on top of it and has shelves stacked with trash and treasures, randomly intermixed. Like a (very) downmarket version of King Tut's tomb.:rotfl:
I emerged blinking back into the light with the Things, two empty wine bottles and a trayful of tarnished nineteenth-century silverware. Asked why he has a crate of empty wine bottles and coffee jars down there and he shrugged ruefully. They've been there for some time by the cobwebs. I took two to the bottle bank on my way home and will take some more on each and every visit. I may clean some silver for him tomoz, I really like polishing things, sadsack that I am.:o
Am experimenting with some re-organisation in the bedroom, which is intended to cause a large item to leave, but not sure that it will work so will refrain from posting about it until I've sorted it.
Tea Lady, when you described the teaset, I was reminded of seeing something which sounded identical on Antiques Roadshow years ago. It was very pretty and had been handed down the generations for a hundred years and had no financial value at all. Which the ceramics expert said was a pity, as they were very attractive, but they were mass-produced and no end have been sequestered in state in china cabinets and have thus survived in numbers.
There's a lesson for us all there, isn't there?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Normally I just check in a couple of times a week but just had to today. The rain has meant we have been stuck indoors but with nothing on the agenda this proved great for me! i have a pine shelving unit close to where I watch TV which is now absolutely brimming with stuff to sort, crafts to make, bits to mend and half completed jobs. so whilst i watch TV I can dip into in the adverts. I also brought the photos down that need scanning!
The rain has cleared so I am pottering again in the backyard. I am determined to clean the 'green.' I have now two to do lists on the fridge of things i still need to do e.g. go through the bead tub even though it is neatly away and things i need to buy e.g. bug spray. They re realistic ones. Today i feel so much more organised. Hope the mood stays!
DD1 has asked to go out for an hour , despite room not quite done I have let her on proviso she does all the washing up and drying on her return. Result!Don’t put it down - put it away!
