Red Panda, that sounds such a huge task - many huge tasks, actually.

What you said about you not having kids and not likely to have any, and in any case who would cope with your stuff when you went ... thats exactly how I feel. It would be likely to be my sister, the same age as me, or one of her kids, and I'm pretty sure they'd just turn it over to a clearance company.

Please come online to chat about the latest victory :)

Welcome to the gang Redpanda - good to see you post and come out of lurkdom!
Busy day today but totally unplanned - well most of it anyway. My lovely neighbours who are in their 80's now and not so mobile have just been quoted £400 for someone to chemically clean their block paved drive ( it's not that big either) they came across to us as they wer'n't too sure about the chemical and their plants so I offered to pressure wash it first for them & then they could decide. Upshot - I've done it today and it looks great. While I was doing it the Tree Surgeon that I'd booked for next week had a cancellation and asked if he could come today so three trees have been topped & trimmed and an elderly ugly conifer gone - also a wodge of Dosh. Does that count t as Kondoing please?
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Good Morning All

Contracts have finally been exchanged and I'm moving next week! Sleep has been very elusive, between the heat and brain knitting busily all night!! It's been good to read all the success stories on here, it gives me hope that the move won't be a total nightmare.

I've had family staying this week (planned since January before I'd even thought of moving) and have kondo'd some major 'stuff' in their direction. Their car was groaning under the weight when they left last night - hope the ferry doesn't sink!!

It's now piddling down here in Devon and I have all the bath towels washed, ready to go out if/when the rain stops. The garden is grateful! I'd hoped to get the spare bed stripped and bedding washed today but don't want it hanging around wet. That bed is being donated to my first time buyer so will stay stripped. I need to do a final Kondo of bedding, still have far too much, so another trip to the charity shop is looming as there is so little cupboard space in the new house.

Must leap into the shower and kick start the day - it's too easy for me to Kondo time reading when there's so much still to do!

    SP xx
Note to self: I'm a human being, not a human doing! 😊

    Morning all
I am a believer in the power of woo. Had to post.
Yesterday as I was going out to work. I picked up a Sally Army Charity bag that had been pushed through the door. Popped it on the side and went on my merry way.
When I came home late evening. Hubby said he had found the said bag and had sorted through his wardrobe and filled it up.
I was expecting one or two items, but no it was full and another pile of shoes and coats at the side of it.
This is the true power of the woo.
I haven't said or nagged him for months and he just did it.
Now I really can't believe this, sitting have a morning coffee he was very quiet and thoughtful and turn to me and said, ' I think I'll have a sort out of my photo bit and bobs there are some that I never use, I'll sell them and that will buy my new lens' I'm still in total shock I think someone has stolen my hubby and put someone else in his place. Looks like the local CS and the bay of E might have some stock coming their way.
A gobsmacked but very happy Tea Lady.
  • Good morning all.

Tealady, I love a bit of woo!

Hello Red Panda and good luck and stay strong with such an enormous task.

    Exciting times ahead, Sweetpea!

Silvasava, I wish I had you for a neighbour!

Bit of work for me today, then the rest of it is scheduled doing favours for DD. I keep telling her that a 'favour' is meant to be something little, like posting a letter, but she has a rather more expansive definition...
“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”

  • The book has arrived!!!

Really looking forward to reading it while I'm on holiday. I'll come back a new man.

So when I come back, on 12th September, I'll pop by and say hello and give my thoughts.

    Excited!

    Morning all.
Welcome Red Panda Good luck on your journey and you have made a great start so well done and of course for posting :T
Lets hope it brings others out of lurkdom as we would love to hear what you are all up to and where you are in this very eyeopening journey which is of course KM :D

I am going to have a relaxing day today I have decided :D

Another decision made which is not to send someone a card and a gift for their Birthday next week as the last time I spoke to her was when she phoned to thank me for card etc last year. Not really my type of person anymore so will knock it on the head and sit back and see if anything is said to anyone ;) I always hear the late great iTwin in my head 'Whats the point she no longer brings you joy' or adds anything thing to your life really thinking about it :rotfl:She just expects it and gives nothing in return.

Thank you iTwin you taught me well :)

I was thinking about iQueen earlier :( it was a year ago that we became facebook friends and nearly a year ago that we met up.

She had only just got her woo (and still had a lot of stuff to kondo) when she became ill. I know she would say to all lurkers or people on the verge of starting the kondo journey "Do it now"

Tomorrow nearly was too late for her.

(I think she would also tell me to stop being so effing maudling and just get on with it :rotfl:)
I wanna be in the room where it happens

It is hard to believe how long the MK posts have been around and how much people are still posting. It obviously must have hit the heart of many. I think i do wobble back to 'I may need that' and i paid x for it' and put it to one side but have noticed a new me who now more often than not will look objectively at something and get rid.

I think my biggest break through is shopping. I saw some plastic picnic plates in the sale. Picked them up as they were such a bargain. I had not even left the display before I put them back as i have some already and why did i really need more? Just in case of what?

At the moment I am random KD but this is making me happy and making room for when I have the mojo to tackle bigger projects. I think I will have to chip away at photos like this as this is where I came unstuck as there seems no fast way to scan and sort these.
Don’t put it down - put it away!

I've enjoyed reading all the posts since yesterday. TeaLady I had a bit of a woo moment yesterday too. Must be woo in the air. I went with DD and DS to get results. Both very happy so me too. Whilst out DH KM'd the socks and pants. 'Sit down' he said 'I've got something to show you' ;) Returned with a bib bag full of the stuff. How it lived in those two small drawers neither of us had any idea! We then KM'd plants, cuttings and 15 gardening books to the gardening association for their summer show and £95 in small change into the bank. That doesn't include £2 coins! Whoop, whoop! Luxor4 can totally relate to fabric addiction. I can barely throw ant clothes away in case they could quilt! VJ's mum not ready to tackle the shed's yet but I'm impressed! Huge welcome RedPanda it's so natural to lurk. Glad you feel you've had cyber hand holding :T
