KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I may try some of the classical stuff (not the ' Eroica' - I'm sure that's not dacent). But possibly the Shostokovitch etc. Hopefully, she'll decide they're not really her thang.
We've been having a laff downstairs. Among other things, Dad had found the report of the funeral of a grandmother with 4 greats, described in the newspaper as a very respectable woman (I am glad to hear this).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I read that as Erotica!:rotfl:

Ivyleaf - compost can be reinvigorated by putting in a garden pot (needs a hole) and then staining the pot in a tray or bucket of water. Or slowly water from above. Either way put a drop or 2 of washing up liquid as it seem to reduce the surface tension of the water slightly to enable it to slowly be absorbed.
S x£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.

:j Can we declutter? Yes we can. :j
Have worked mini-miracles in The Off Room, particularly in The Cupboard - the once-wardrobe with two very strong home-made slatted shelves, whole thing abuut 4.5 ft tall x 3 ft wide.
I parked Mum (and her knitting) on a chair at the kitchen table, looking into The Off Room, perched myself on the low step-stool, opened The Cupboard and discussed what she wanted to achieve.
She wanted it to hold all the baking tins and the bowls and, if possible, the large containers of flour. We evicted the wooden platter and glass dome thingy up onto the high shelves above and brought all the flours onto the top shelf inside the cupboard, three large containers and their refills in paper bags stuck behind them.
On the middle shelf, we have the big pastry bowl (which turned out to have a nest of mixing bowls inside it so the glass dome wouldn't have worked anyway), and two wine boxes on their sides, one holding the bun tins and one holding three cake tims, with the two heavy duty muffin tins sitting on top of the boxes holding them steady.
About 60% of the household's baking tins are now in bags awaiting donation - apart from a couple I've bagsied for my home. Several flasks, inc two super stainless steel ones, are going, too. A couple of glass things we don't use and aren't donatable due to being chipped, are going into the recycling bank, no point in burdening the chazzer with those.
We have decluttered to the Tchaikovsky (unimpressed) and the Shostokovitch symphony no 12 - favourably impressed. No one has threatened me with Jim Reeves so I haven't had to run away.:o
Two unused sets of placemats have gone for donation (still about 60-odd here), plus several tins and plastic containers have gone into recycling.
Sorrowfully, nothing falling into bat-sh*t crazy territory has come to light, but the day is young.:rotfl:
Quotes of the day; Don't get rid of the Constables! (one of the usused placemat sets) and I've bought that tupperware from the charity shop to hold the cat biscuits when the ones we're using have split their lids. I know their lids are already splitting but they're not split enough yet, put it back on the shelf so's I'll know where it is.
Oh, and I found a powercord which I am sure belongs to the CD-radio which went to the electronics recycling centre not long after New Year. Mum isn't sure of its provenance so it can't go likewise and is now neatly coiled, held together with a twisty-tie and placed in the cardboard box labelled Electrical Bits on the floor of the BCofD.
Luncheon awaits, more updates later. GQ xx
ETA; one of the two chipped glass things (lemon juicer) was confiscated back into the cupboard but the other thing I hit with a hammer when it was wrapped in newspaper and shot the smithereens into a plastic container for safe transit up to the glass recycling bank at the supermarche. We got a couple of items and a couple of things for my household as I'll be home very late tomorrow evening then straight back into the work-week.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thank you so much, I'll try this in the near future :j0 -
:(
It is with heavy heart that I write this post. But I thought you might want to know that dear IQueen passed away just over a week ago.
As some of you know, I met up with her last summer and we spent a wonderful day together, chatting like old friends. I had hoped it would be repeated but I became aware late last year that her health was not so good.
Earlier on this year I contacted her to see how she was and heard the sad news that she had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a few months to live. I went to message her again last week (via FB) and her page was closed. Knowing the names of her daughters I could see condolences on their pages and so have come to the sad conclusion that she has passed.
She was very stoic about the whole thing and had been promised good and pain free palliative care. She said that she had not lost her "woo". Virtually the last message she wrote saidOh, !!!!!!! Meant to say "Do it NOW - tomorrow may be too late! 😊
I only met her once, but we got on like a house on fire, I don't believe she would want anyone brought low by this news. In fact she said she'd had a wild idea of inviting a few from the thread down to hers to assist in her kondoing, either that or "chuck a bl00dy match on the whole lot". :rotfl:
I contacted her daughter with condolences and asked permission to post this. She hasn't got back to me, but probably thinks I am a nutter. I have decided to post anyway as I think she would want you all to know (especially her last message about doing it now), as I haven't given any personal information I think it will be ok
Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news (Mavvy knew due to some other communication - they were iTwins after all), but I haven't said anything previously as it was not my news to tell.
She said she was still feeling joyful - lets go with thatI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
