I love Mary Renault's books! Started reading actual history books after finding her :)

Hope everyone has a great day. The only thing I'm going to be kondo-ing is weeds ....

    Good morning everyone!

I've been lurking for ages, kondo-ing a lot along the way. I was using Fly Lady for a couple of years to try decluttering my home, and still do for my cleaning routines, but Marie Kondo takes things to a whole new level! Everywhere that I've kondo'd has stayed that way, my airing cupboard is the best, my knicker drawer colour coordinated, ditto tops etc.

I have just put my house on the market, loads of 'stuff' has gone to the charity shop or been recycled. I thought I had already done a lot, especially after my parents died some years ago, and I realised I didn't want to leave a similar situation for my son to deal with when I pop my clogs. (GQ I admire what you have achieved in the parental home).

Must get my rear in gear and get stuck in again. I have viewings starting at the end of the week, the house is pretty much sorted but the garden is ongoing - it looks beautiful right now.

Have a great day whatever you do!

    SP xx

Congratulations Sweetpea, it'll make the house selling/moving so much easier.

Interesting re the comments about losing weight, that was the one bit of MK that wasn't happening for me but I'm now going for an hour's walk every day and weight is finally peeling off. I think it's the headspace that MK has given me that enables me to take that hour out.

Mavvy, I'm just reviewing shoes but didn't think it would be worth selling any - that's made me think again! Although I'm not sure mine cost that much in the first place... :rotfl:

Oh Watty, I love that, 'skipping and dancing happy'! Well done and you are so right, it does make you happy and it will stay neat and tidy and everything that is useful (and for that reason sparks joy) will be easily accessible and will therefore get used as needed!

    Hooray for all Kondo-ers!! :T

On the exact opposite note, my mil was telling me about an incident many years ago when her mil made a very cruel comment about an outfit she was wearing. My mil was so upset that she just got up and left the party, went home, slung the posh clothes in the bin and cried for an hour. My mil said she still has tthe scarf she had on that day because it was so pretty but everytime she sees it she gets a knot in her tummy.

OMG, says I, just get rid of it if that's how it makes you feel! It's so obvious, especially in these 'extreme cases', isn't it?!

Anyway, I have the usual big Tuesday 'to do' list so I need to crack on. Have a lovely moment or two today, or more if you can:)

I have nearly got some rooms back. Dining room will be safe to clean and move back into tomorrow. Bedroom floor may not be finished, but it should be OK to move into on Thursday. Bathroom is almost finished too, which means I should be able to move back into my bedroom at last.

The hall needs to be emptied. I'm kind of hoping I can do that over the weekend but suspect that it will need to be this week - it depends on when the new stairs arrive, as the old ones have to come out and new ones go in on the same day!

I'm not expecting much to go, but I am expecting a lot of reorganisation as the various rooms come back into use.

:) Ooo, wish I could have been at my allotment, stuck in work for most of the day.

Have a taker for my freegle offering, collection tbc, so that's one less thing around the place. The amount of Stuff is suddenly thinning out as I get the last of the things brought over from the parental home to their eventual destinations.

Will be clear just in time for the late May bank holiday weekend when I shall be over there again, sticking my oar into one area or another - Mum has expressed the need to get a particular part of the kitchen organised on the last couple of visits, but priority was given to the bedroom. Even a GQ can only be in one place at a time.

Going to be round a mate's in a couple of hours so have a few bits to do here beforehand, might just shove a vacuum around the floor as it doesn't take long (not much floor, lol) and certainly makes the place look better.

Once I've finished reading the book, that will be into the chazzer bag and then I will read something else from the row of to-be-reads and that can go. Gotta keep on top of the Stuff before the Stuff gets on top of me.

Onwards and outwards, one and all. GQ xx

I've painted a doorframe on the garage its propped open for a few hours then I think the garden is about done. We have made a decision about our garden bench/swing seat, it did bring joy as I won it about 12 years ago but it's now getting past it, when we reassembled it at the beginning of the spring we both commented this was probably the last year of its usefulness. But we have both fallen in love with a bench at the carboot, a guy comes with garden furniture he makes, we've looked at them for a couple of weeks and last we we both sat on one, it was made for us it's so comfy and looks lovely handmade unique and rustic and is very reasonable compared with some we've looked at. We were going to wait till the end of the season but Dh pointed out if we do we are going to be sitting on an uncomfortable tatty bench all summer and then buy one just to store through the winter. So we are going to order it this weekend! And let our old one go.
Its forecast rain tonight is it wrong that the thought of that brings me a bit of joy as it will be a chance to test if we plumbed the water butt in correctly LOL

Just Kondoed all the ironing, mand folded the non ironing just got a few bits to put away now. I've got some photos I found upstairs to put away in the cupboard with the rest of them.

Plan for tonight is finish marcella and catch up on last nights sewing bee with my knitting.

Kondo action today: One small win - a sunhat to CS because it was not comfy and I have three others that I love. One big win - did DH's tax return. I usually get round to it in Dec so this is a triumph.

Continued the 'tidy and organised' theme that is the backbone of MK by drafting a template packing list and making a few copies for future use. Did similar for my summary of opening times for local NT and EH properties. Is it just me or is the NT website Extremely frustrating to use nowadays? Takes ages to find anything useful about indiv properties, too much info 'slithers into view rather than being there awaiting a reader. I spent ages going round in circles so will do one final trawl for days & times and never revisit! Pah!

Have organised what I will take as lunch for 2 tomorrow (I take lunch to an elderly neighbour most weeks, to make a change for her, and in reality, to make sure she eats properly at least one day a week), washed all cleaning gloves and clothes, and vacced round. Feel ready to meet the day when it rolls up. :)

This may not seem much of an achievement but until MK I was the most unorganised person! (note that I did not say disorganised :D). I never prepped for the following day!!
