I know there are 40cm deep, 75 cm wide single wardrobes about but finding one that hasn't had the shabby chic treatment may be a challenge!

I'd LOVE a wardrobe like your brother's GQ - I know they do make them shorter as well, but they are hard to come by (at least round here) and I suspect the eBay offerings are being snapped up by people who restore them and sell them on etsy!

I have, however, measured my large COD and it's only 40cm deep so need to get organised so the builders can help me move that while they're waiting for varnish to dry on the floor in the kids' room :D

    Mending all.
You've reminded me of the bedroom furniture my parents had when I was a child it was gorgeous. Mums wardrobe was huge with a bow front and double doors, dads was shorter with half hanging space and half shelves both had beautifully patterned little keys. the dressing table had rows of drawers all lined in velvet set back At each side on the top like jewellery/niknak compartments as well as one of these three sectioned angled mirrors, it was in a really shiny polished mottled wood like pale leopard skin almost. It was very joyful sadly once they split up I never saw it again so I think it was left behind or taken to the tip. Never was sure how my parents came to have such a magnificent set of furniture it wouldn't have looked out of place in a grand house.

I bought a men's utility wardrobe when the kids we little it had shelves one side and a pull out hanging rail the other I painted it blue with orange stars on and each of the kids loved it. It's was still in good nick when youngest outgrew it I gave it away after that. It had little labels on the shelves originally as there were little nails with the edges of white plastic fixed to the edges where they'd be pulled off.

Not sure what today's plan is. I really need to sort the stuff out that's go over dd2s tomorrow. So will do that first.

    Have a joyful day all

    Mornin' GQ :hello:

    I have this one > http://www.lakeland.co.uk/24667/Joseph-Joseph%c2%ae-Sinksaver-Grey
I got it for exactly the reasons you state!

This and the collapsable washing basket (AKA a standard collapsable crate) have revolutionised my small kitchen. Small changes can make all the difference!

You will see that it is two pieces you click together so it fits any sink, no matter whether the plug hole is central or off-set.

    HTH :)

I would strongly caution agains the pebble style ones because they trap crud.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

I have never used a washing up bowl.....hate them, but I have never had a problem with a scratched sink??? Is it only a problem with non stainless steel ones? We clean ours with a green scourer and when it needs it, a cream cleaner. We are about to replace it as we had a new kitchen recently but as a friend said it looks like new and TBH it does even though its 20 years old! Might have to rethink that one :) We do have a DW too but not everything goes through it.

We've been renting the same place for ten years, never bothered with a washing-up bowl and the sink is not scratched. I find Lakeland the king of things you think you need but don't really. I mean I bought a banana protector from them once! :o

Why didn't I think of that? Thank you for mentioning it - I will get one and send my basket off to pastures new - unfortunately I can't get away with not having one as the washer is in the kitchen and the dryer is in the shed.

I would keep the old sink Igamogam, newer things tend to be of far inferior quality.

More clearing out of emails and paperwork has been taking place and more will be done today. At last seem to be getting somewhere.

Also need to have another attempt at putting things into the corner cupboard in the kitchen. Perversely, now there's less in it I can't get it all back in in a user friendly fashion :rotfl:

I use folding crates for my washing. Tip before purchasing one, measure the distance from the floor to the bottom of your WM door. I've had to buy a new crate when an old one broke, bought a larger size and now have to remember to open the WM door before putting the crate in front of the machine, and then have to move the crate out of the way before shutting the door. Make sure when you buy one it's not too deep to get the door open as it's pretty annoying otherwise!

    I don't use a washing up bowl - I found that they scratch sinks! :) I don't use a protector, either.

I also like the idea of folding crate - but use a large reusable bag to take washing out to the garden and fold it away into a drawer when not in use :)

2 large ebay parcels going off today - 1 of some of DD's things unplayed with for years and 1 of an item I ordered and then was given it free instead as a goodwill gesture and it has since been in a kitchen cupboard unused for over 9 years...... Has also meant that a decent amount of packaging from the stash has left the building! :D

    Seventh Anniversary
Wrapping paper organiser has arrived, so no excuses- time to "finesse" some storage in the bedroom and kitchen.
Received a funny text earlier from a friend - a picture of a kondo'd drawer with a message "do your drawers look like this?" She's Konverted after me going on about it the other week! She can't wait to do the whole house, so I sent her a pic of my tea towel and cloth drawer for inspiration!
