Does anyone remember the Long John coffee tables that curved up at the ends? My parents gave me theirs & DH sawed the curved bit off & we used it to put the Christmas tree on!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

We're going to have to visit the loft this weekend. Occasionally I find a dead woodlouse upstairs, mainly in the bathroom or on the landing. Last night there was a live one in the bathroom. I think they are falling down through the light fittings. The last time I went in the loft I noticed there were loads of dead woodlice in the loft insulation behind the trapdoor. I think we must have some sort of leak up there. There's no water tank now so either a pipe has a small leak (nothing showing on the ceilings) or there's a loose tile. We did have a broken tile about 18 months ago but I spotted that quite quickly I think.
Deep joy. There's piles of carp up there needing to be sorted, I think I'll find out from my accountant exactly how far back I need to keep my business records and perhaps drag the older stuff down to go through the shredder. We also need to put back up some Christmas lights and the software box.Make £2025 in 2025

Happy Friday all! Have the day off for new fridge arrival & revision.
So the old fridge freezer has now been KM'd for good....New one in place. Slimmer but taller. Hopefully should help us in overbuying food n condiments.
Just waiting for the fridge to settle then will switch on, let the appliance get up to cold temps as needed.
So tonight will be the last of the defrosted veggie quesadillas n some lovely red wine. Am hungry already.
A few other items of defrosted food, mainly HM tamarind sauce has now been divided up from two large tubs into three small tubs. Using them will be easier.
Unfortunately my March GC challenge will take a slight battering as will need to stock up on garlic, ginger, bits of frozen veg will be required.
Oh well, onwards n upwards.
Have a good day all!

[brushing halo] Hello! My name is Siebrie, and I would like to share my testimony on the KonMari method.
Last night at 8 a colleague rang my DH to say he was in a city 20km away, and that his car had been towed. Could DH please pick him up and bring him to the police depot to pick up the car? And would DH be so kind as to advance him the fine? DH would be so kind, and drove off to rescue his colleague. It all took a bit of time, and at 9.30 I got a call if I could make a quick dinner for the colleague, and prepare the guest bedroom. 20 Minutes later, they arrived, the bed was made, towel/flannel/new toothbrush/new deodorant on it, dinner was defrosting in the microwave, bathroom had been given a (very) quick wipe. Tired colleague was very grateful. He'll repay us in three instalments, as he and his wife have a limited budget, and we don't want them to stretch it too far. [extra halo brushing] They are refugees (albeit she has a European nationality from birth) rebuilding their lives here after fleeing from extreme violence in the African city they lived in. They are both working fulltime, but pay is quite low.
Anyway [throws halo in corner] friends needed us, we could provide, and quickly at that, because everything has a place, is in that place, and we have a buffer because we only buy what gives us joy.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
What a great story - especially having the room ready in twenty minutes, and being able to sub them for the fine.
Dust off that halo and put it firmly back on your head where it belongs!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Thats lovely, Siebrie! I bolded the last little bit, that should be enthroned on a moneysaving thread :j:j:j
Like Polly says, get that halo out of the corner!
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Cleared out LOTS of emails and cleared down my work phone. I really had kept too much stuff in both in-boxes! Another joyful exercise, getting rid of all the stuff that has been hanging over me for ages
Surprised myself when it came to summarising processes, specialist tasks etc - I had all the info neatly filed and could put together covering doc very easily - I think that was down to the MK influence taking over my scatty brain last year! Previously I would have known I knew the stuff and that I had docs somewhere, but would not have been able to lay my hands on it all!
And, another friend of my lovely neighbour (the one I have been helping with shopping and chores) has asked her for my contact number because she could do with some help. Seems to me that I will be able to keep the wolf from the door come April.
looking forward to more Kondoing this weekend, still lots to do but plenty of successes to admire as well.
keep up the good work everyone!
Siebrie, well done! You are so right, having not spent on useless, unloved fripperies has given me a little safety net, too. And it feels so good :j
MI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -

[picks halo up] this does not belong in a corner. On second thought, it does not spark joy; anyone knows how to recycle haloes? Anyone on here wants it?Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Thank you to whoever mentioned Hamster Baskets. I apologise for thinking you had misspelt something :rotfl:
I went online, did my measurement of my freezer, spoke to the nice people in their offices about which way round I should measure, and then ordered.
My baskets arrived yesterday and I can honestly say they are wonderful. So much joy has been sparked by their arrival
I have a chest freezer and can now easily organise all the same type of food in each basket and can see what I have at a glance.
They are not cheap but they are immensely joyful.
Thank you
Edit - it was Slinky who mentioned it, so thankyou Slinky0 -
You can wear it this week Sebrie - then it can be passed on to someone else on the thread who gives us Joy!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
