Thanks Slinky....I'll try and persuade OH to help me move the fridge freezer and see what we can do.
Will see how he is, as he's not well at the moment.
Oh well, it will be an interesting weekend anyways - freezer food and revision - what a lovely combo.0 -
Afternoon all! Managed to squeeze in a little more kondoing this week thanks to the baby conveniently falling asleep on my bed while I've been getting dressed in the morning. This has freed up between 30 mins and an hour each morning to tackle DD's room while still in earshot of baby.
We've made good progress although not much actually gotten rid of as we had several passes at her bedroom in preparation for DD2's arrival last year. Took 2 small bags of random toys and bits to charity shop this morning. I also binned an entire bin bag of clothes hangers, 80% of which moved house with us and have been living in DD's wardrobe for 2 years! That has freed up some space I can tell you!
Everything has been reorganised and hopefully will be a little bit easier for her to keep tidy. Just a few pictures left that I need to consult with DH on and then the remainder of her toys to come up from the dining room. Will aim to get this done tomorrow when I no longer have a needy 6 month old whining in my arms!
I've done all the major areas now, so it's just the little pockets of komono left to deal with. DH has got a few bits left to sort in the bedroom (hopefully will persuade him this weekend!) then the main bedroom and ensuite is completely finished.
Might have a look at cleaning supplies next as a nice quick hit and shoes which got missed from the clothing category as they all live downstairs.0 -
Lol, I once had a woman phone my house, insist on speaking to "Dave" (just my mum and I lived there, there was no Dave!) and when I told her she had the wrong number, she argued aggressively with me for 5 minutes until I had to hang up on her.
I don't know what that was meant to acheive!
Our phone number is very similar to that of a local GP surgery. We sometimes get calls from people wanting the surgery and insisting that ours is the number on the surgery's website (it isn't, I've checked).
One woman got quite annoyed with me when I said I couldn't just put her through
ETA We also once had someone demanding "'Ello, 'ave you got the G-Plan table in teak?"
No idea which furniture shop they thought we were0 -
Many years ago my mum was given a new phone number. Unfortunately it used to belong to a brothel!
We had no end of 'gentlemen' ringing up about the ad in the paper.
My mum used to tell them it was a 3 piece suite with matching footstool!
BT wouldn't give us another number. Took ages for the calls to stop.0 -

BT wouldn't give us another number. Took ages for the calls to stop.Back when police stations still had a direct number in the public domain, one of my pals happened to be issued with a telephone number for this city which was the same as the cop shop in a town across the region.
Completely different area codes, of course, but that didn't stop idiots ringing him up and refusing to believe he wasn't the police in the other town.:rotfl:
Have kondo'd the aforementioned baskets and a bag of books and misc komono down to the chazzer this afternoon. My excessive kondo-action has caused two thank-you emails from the chazzer in three days, I must have hit some critical mass of Stuff.
I find that I am becoming rather detached from Stuff, as in able to admire it and leave it behind, as if I have re-set the bar for ownership at a higher level (they joyful level) and I don't want to be bothered with things which don't really float my boat.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Books revisited last night. I had a moment of potential kondo regret. I went through my books hoping I'd find a text book that I thought would be useful for a professional membership application that I hope to do this year. I cannot find the book
I must have sent if off to Zapper last year as I hadn't looked at it in a good few years.
After my initial upset I remembered that there is a specific book produced by the institute I'm hoping to join that is specifically for the exam. It's a comparative cost to replacing the old one, and work might just pay for it. There are also a lot of online articles and news commentary relating to my line of work so between them I should be fine. The kondoed book would have been a good decade out of date too. So my regret passed quite easily after some thought on the matter.
I have also thanked and let go my set of the Chronicles of Narnia books (anyone else remember the BBC series from the 90s?!). I hope a child somewhere will be able to enjoy them as much as I did. There are a few heavy going philosophical bits in a couple of the books but I loved some of the descriptions enormously, especially in Voyage of the Dawntreader. I can always download to my Kindle if I'm missing it.
I need to have a quick whizz round to tidy for guests tomorrow and I know that I can get most of it done in an hour (there will be some hiding of unsorted stuff in the room of doom). It's a great feeling to know how far I've come.
On the subject of mis-guided phone calls I've had a couple of phone messages for a solicitor's office (not the same type of soliciting as yellowbear 's mum had!) People looking for lost wills. At work we have one line that is a digit different from the local credit union, folks get very upset that we can't give them a loan :rotfl:

Just had a bit of a woo moment.
Was on the phone to the folks and mentioned to Mum that I had tried and failed to buy a towelling bathrobe today, plenty of fleecy type robes but not towelling, in the places I visited (TK M, basically).
She then pipped up about something I'd long forgotten, a very nice cotton towelling robe in cream-and-sage-green stripes, in as-new condition, which we got for my kid bruv several years back among a hoard of shirts etc at a jumble sale.
He's never used it (he already had a towelling robe) and it's just hanging around and he's now agreed it can come live with me, I shall get it at Easter. I'm well-pleased. Lovely example of life bringing me something I need. And, when I have that in my possession, my too-short fleece robe will be washed and donated.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hello all
Didnt get into the Narnia cupboard of doom.As Dad had a couple of friends round so didnt want to start it
But did manage to take 4 bin bags (in 4 trips as they were so heavy) worth of carp out of the bootsale cupboardand run it round to the Chazzer.
So the time was put to good use. Funny the phone rung while I was there and it was the 'windows call) Didnt have time to wind them up today so just said ' I am so glad you rung as we are looking to have our windows replaced' and just kept saying it so they put the phone down
Igamogam Sorry you are having a hard time at the moment just keep on with it I am sure you will get the doubters on side soon
It is so frustrating as you can see where you want to be with it so clearly and know how you are going to get there.
But with everything there is always bumps in the road ahead just need to carry on over the top of them :rotfl:
I still have paintings here on my wall which are no longer bringing me joy so they have to goI keep looking at them thinking thank you but my tastes have changed (again:rotfl:) and you need to go.
Still love the new ones I have just had framed so thats good.
Still havent started the decorating as still in my heart I have moved out of the house (I really dont want to be here) But in my head I know I have to be for a whileBut still cant be a*sed to even start it

Had such big plans for kd today including going the tip and finishing up the first round of under the stirs which looks miles better. Exactly why do I buy three boxes of tiles? Another job lot for eBay is building up in the front room. We do have family around tomorrow but as no kids I can stash it in other room all ready to go!
One DD is at sleepover tonight so I took other to cinema as a treat. I could have got completely wasted, bought a curry and still had change compared to what it cost. No wonder there were so few people/other families there.Don’t put it down - put it away!
