KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I've been clearing out loads of school/ uni stuff at my parents, and as I've said before it really helps doing the categories in order as I feel as if I'm quite practised now in the technique.
I could read news jotters from primary school, smile and then put in the recycling bin. I took photographs of a few funny pieces of work and letters from relatives.
I was thrown when I found all my uni notes though.
I got a decent degree, but I found a lot of stuff from a certain subject that I have just always felt that I wasn't great at, and I just felt bad when I saw it iyswim??
In the past I would have kept it as 'evidence' that I had done that work but last night I put it in the bin without a care in the world:j0 -
Sorry, I meant on the new appliance when it arrives, get the grease on it before it gets pushed into place.
Thanks slinky....Will talk to OH about this morning and see what we can do about it......
Trying to work out what we can eat with all the defrosted food...onto the two of us here....some things unfortunately we will have to throw away....am not happy about that, but that is life n just need to get on with it....0 -

If you have defrosted veg, might it be possible to turn it into soup and eat some of it down that way?
Does your home contents insurance policy cover loss of frozen food, by any chance?
Going to be forcing myself away from the pooter and into some tidying up ready for the sparkies early next week. Some things can go into the storage shed but nothing of much value can be risked there as they are subject to break-ins (mine has been done over before, sadly).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning all:D Its a sad day here in the Mavvymoo house hold.
Most of you will remember the sad case of the china shire horse with the plastic tack and 1 leg miles longer than the other 3 that my Son saved up his pocket money for me for Mothers day.About 28 years ago
It has been in the garage for years as I couldnt bring myself to get rid of it.
Well it has now goneManaged to break its long leg so we needed to burn some 'people we dont know'photos so we had a bonfire and the Shire horse went on but I couldnt watch it burn so smashed it up with a stick :rotfl:Not sure if that made me feel better or worse.:rotfl:
A set of Natwest pigs  Anyone remember them ? Which belong to my son which I had to put the rent money in his account to get them :rotfl:and withdraw it as soon as we got the pigand pay the rent late
Have been brought in and carefully washed and will grace a shelf (where I cant see them) Until he collects them as I have stored them for 20 years now. Enough is Enough and he can store his own carp
Mavvymoo is moving again and long may it last

I salute the Shire Horse. It gave you and your son great joy, and has now gone to a better place.
I believe those pigs are quite sought-after if he has a full set - not by me, I'm afraid they give me the creeps! :rotfl:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
 Oh mavvy, not the shire horse, say it isn't so!
Mum had one of those. Actually, she had two, the larger one had a plastic dray with plastic beer barrels on it, and there was a half-size version with just plastic tack. I detested both of them and persuaded her to chazzer them about 25 years ago.:rotfl:
There's an entry on becomingminimalist's website about millennials having to face facts and get their carp out of the parental home which I was reading just a moment ago. The power of the woo yet again.
I am pootling at home as having a low-energy day. Have defrosted my little freezer and pulled out something which I think is a pasta veggie sauce kinda thing. Not 100% sure what it is but it will be a 'ponent of supper whatever it is.
Life should always feature some degree of randomness, don't you think?
Have been moving stuff around from it's usual place to other places where it will be less in the way of incoming sparkies. Whatever I do as prep will really have to be done this weekend as they're incoming on Tues and I have to work Monday and won't have much energy left after that for doing stuff.
Convincing me all the more that I should have Less Stuff in general.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

If there is raw meat in there can you cook it to extend its life? Eat freezer things for breakfasts? Do you have a friendly neighbour who could squeeze a couple of things into their freezer (obv not re-freezing raw things but - for example - if you cook a chicken you could strip it and the cooked chicken takes up less room and can then be safely frozen. Or cook mice and freeze it at a neighbour's? Or any family close by? Even a couple of items cooked and saved by freezing elsewhere is better than nothing - I hate throwing food away, too xI am pootling at home as having a low-energy day. UFOs!! Random unidentified frozen objects! These used to feature frequently in our house (is it chilli? Bolognese? lentil pasta sauce? chicken casserole? - all could be orange and similar looking when frozen
Thankfully I empty tub contents once frozen into plastic bags now and label and date the bags with a sharpie - it's one area of my life that I'm now very organised in
