Elona - so pleased to read you are safe and well away from the evacuation zone.
I managed to see a doctor this morning - a young chap I haven't seen before. I was really impressed as he came across as caring and sympathetic, which is more than can be said for some I have seen! He has given me yet another different anti-biotic to try but told me not despair as there are things which they don't like to prescribe but can be offered when all else fails. I wonder why the Consultant has never told me this!
So this afternoon I am not doing much and it's feet up with a sitting down job! I want to tackle next year's Planner! I job I hate! So much to write down, including bank stuff, birthdays, DD's rota and our minding rota, not to mention the endless stream of medical appointments already lining up! If I didn't have all this stuff on a planner I would never remember it!
Weather report! Frank is still with us, doing his best at blowing around everything in sight, and now the rain has started. The poor people on the lower levels will be starting to worry again.
Have a nice afternoon if you can xxxx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Camelot look at your water company account, you may be covered for drain problems with them, or alternatively your buildings insurance policy.
Thanks for all the good wishes. RR I can't imagine how you & your family are feeling, big hugs from Blackpool xx2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Central heating and gas hob is working which is a relief.
It is starting to rain again which will not help matters but at least I am at home and warm and safe.
I managed to find a rechargable torch which is plugged in so I should always have a working torch handy in the next few days.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Good afternoon everyone.
Hope everyone is safe and has no damage to their property. Wind has been wild here but apart from a few big puddles there doesn't seem to be any flooding near me, though the south side of the city I believe is pretty bad.
I didn't sleep well listening to the wind so I have a headache today that just won't shift. I went out to drop DS at his friends and went to the local M&S food to get tomatoes, they didn't have any so went to the local Tesco and couldn't get into the car park (it is very small though) so was very tempted to get a greggs for lunch but tried our local co-op and got tomatoes so came home and made wraps for lunch. Very pleased as I would have spent £6 in greggs :money:
DD and I only need fed for dinner so it will be egg based as I have a few to use before 5th January. There are also some pigs and blankets in the freezer so will have them too.
Hope everyone has a good day xx0 -
Just read this on Daily Mail online
It came as a 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire, following reports of looting from flood victims.
How low can you get!!!!Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Afternoon - Frank breezed through and left a lovely calm two hours behind before the rain has started again.
The Rest is closed again so it's the long way round tomorrow for my trip to Glasgow. Still, we're not badly off here.
TA - great news about the a/bs. Here's hoping they work but be careful of any reaction to them. My mum had them once and she had to stop taking them. She still swears by the powder stuff we discussed and takes it every day. Good luck.
Tree is down, cards are down, decs are in the barn, food is cooking and I'm looking forward to watching 'Sunshine on Leith' which is on TV soon. I've never seen it but heard it's really good. Calamity Jane is on at the same time so I may have to record it.
Off to have my late lunch / early tea.0 -
Glad to hear you are safe Elona, must be a terrible worry.
TA, good to hear you have seen a different Dr, sometimes a younger GP is more clued up on new meds. I'm sure you have thought of this but it isn't made worse by anything you eat or drink has it?
Thanks Floss. Feeling a bit better about the flooded garden, most of this roads back gardens are flooded, I just couldn't see it (next door have large sheds blocking the view). The houses behind are in a worse state - their front and back gardens are flooded. Most of the water has now drained away.
It appears that there used to be a burn (stream) running from the hills up the road and over the years the drainage hasn't been maintained. There was a tractor trying to clear all the gravel and muck earlier. I've contacted the council and will continue to do so until this is sorted out. How come we can put a man in space but can't put a drainage ditch/pipe along the road?!
I know this is very trivial compared to some but annoying all the same.
Decorations are down, tree outside and the house is back to normal.0 -
TA, my DD, who is a nurse, says very often younger GPs are more in tune with the latest treatments, so I do hope he can offer a ray of hope if the new anti biotics are not successful.
Take care

Afternoon all
Mr Grumpy went out to meet his brother for a drink & came home sober and even more grumpy, made worse when he realised I'd opened a packet of sweets, shock horror.
With any luck his back will start to ache soon and he will go to bed to read.
That way I won't have to listen to any more you tube (current viewing is people cutting trees down) noise blaring out from the study, he has taken his hearing aids out as the make his sore throat worse.
On with the crochet, it helps keep me sane.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
