Morning,((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one. Hope you are safe Elona and your house is not affected with flooding

Its blowing a hoolie here but we do not have any rain, we were going to go into town, but have put it off, there are too many trees and exposed bits on the road. If the wind dies down a bit we may well go in after lunch.

Liver and bacon for supper, will do a rice pudding for dessert.

    Update:

OH decided to go into town after all, it was very windy, but no damage as far as I could see, the wind seems to be increasing just now. I lit the fire and although its shut right down the wind is drawing it up the chimney. We met A my grandaughter in Morrison, she has been told she has to lose at least 3 stone. I bought toasting bread and milk as well as fruit and some salad stuff, so we will be ok for at least another week. The library was open so we changed our books. The mobile library is coming just once a month now and only stopping for 10 minutes in the Lane. I think we will be going to the main library in town when I go in shopping. I got a 28lb bag of spuds from Morrison for £3 today, they should keep us going for a while.

    Morning everyone,

Dry but very windy here at the moment, stupidly mild though

Feels strange not to have Mum in the house, do miss her. We had a lovely lunch out yesterday, I enjoyed a salmon salad which was so tasty after all the rich food. Made some veg soup as well so we will have that for lunch today and maybe something like macaroni cheese for tea. Only shopping I did yesterday was a loaf of bread, will have a good look through the cupboards today and see what we will need for the coming month.

Other than that and seeing my lovely boy intend to have a quiet day today, do some reading and generally chill.

Hope everyone keeps safe and dry, especially RR and Elona, take care folks x

Morning everyone. Very strong gusts of wind last night but, thankfully, no damage. I need to run a few errands today so I'm hoping it will ease up a bit. Sleepwise didn't get much of it so my head is feeling a little groggy this morning. Youngest had a bad night and so I was up with him trying to settle him back down then madam decided she needed attention too.

This morning I need to make some bread and there's cottage pie for tonight so going to prepare that. I've also got a mountain of ironing to get through. Needs doing as uniforms are in there.

Hope everyone has a good day and haven't been too affected by the storms :)

So glad to hear some of you are planning to take down your decorations, I want to do the same as they are annoying me now! I think I'll do it today, DS2 can help me get the boxes down from the loft.

I hope you are all safe from the weather, especially Elona and Rosy, the news footage looked terrible.

My garden is under water so I would imagine the cellar is flooded again. I'm beginning to think there is a drain problem somewhere as both next doors' gardens seem to be ok. Not sure where to start with that one. Thankfully the wind has subsided somewhat but it is still raining.

Washing up to date, I have managed to get everything dried outside for the last couple of days - not today though! Can't believe I've been putting the washing on the line at the end of December!

Stay safe, warm and dry. Take care. XX
  • Good morning,

Thank you Judi you were up bright and early.

It has been an horrendous night with the wind but no rain. Himself has just taken DGD1 to work.

I took all my decorations down yesterday and gave the house a good clean. Not very MSE but when I cleaned the fridge out I had to throw some half eaten desserts away. They had fresh cream on them so I thought better to be safe than sorry.

I have my second load of washing on but to be honest I don't know whether I will be able to dry it outside because it might just take off.

Elona I hope you are safe wherever you spent the night and RR I am so sorry after all your hard work in your new home. I can't imagine how you must feel it must be soul destroying.

I am not going out today, I have some ironing to do and I bought a new duvet set yesterday so I want to check it. I am naughty because I love bed linen and towels, I think I follow my Mum on this one.

I am going to tidy the freezer and make a note of what we need for the next month. I am going to try hard to meal plan and save a bit of money. Come the spring I want some new stair carpet so I think I need to start saving.

Have a good day and stay safe

    Morning all,

Nice blowy day here but meant to get rain later on, I have the bedding in the wash and will hang on the line for an hour later. We are off to take OH crutches back to the hospital and have a quick look around the shops, I do need to get some milk and bread.

Got sisters dog here for a couple of days, its lovely having the patter of four feet here, I do miss having a dog.

Soup and pudding for dinner tonight soup made so just need to heat it up, and I have a chocolate trifle left so that's nice and easy.

Rosyred and elona hope you are both ok xx

    Have good days all xx
  • :hello: Good afternoon everyone,

Elona and Rosy, I do hope you are all safe and warm.

I hope that the storm doesn't cause too much damage for people, its so sad for those affected.

I didn't sleep well last night, its so warm and I had the window open but it was so noisy outside.

Last night I drove to Bromley to pick up DD at 10pm as I didin't want her travelling back on her own so late. When she got in the car, she told me her friends had got her a ticket to the Harry Potter studio tour as her Christmas present and they are going at the end of Jan. I'm so cross as I have booked for us all to go in the February half term as a gift from my Mum as we just haven't been able to afford it ourselves. I was so looking forward to us all enjoying it as a family, as we rarely do anything altogether these days as work and the children's friends take up a lot of time, but DD will have experienced it all before us and will know what to expect, so I feel really upset at the moment, I know that this is nothing compared to the terrible flooding and storms affecting so many people's lives, and I am sure that in time I will feel better about it. Sorry about the long post.

DH went off to work really early this morning and DS has gone out to meet friends. DD is still in bed, so I'm not sure what to do today, I think I will really try to sort myself out, plan our budget, and tidy the house up. I may pop out in a while.

I am going to make a sweet potato and chickpea curry for dinner, as we have finally eaten all the turkey up, and need to get back to meal planning and simple eating.

Have a good day everyone, and stay safe and dry. x

Fortunately I am a distance away from the evacuation zone so was able to spend the night in my own bed. DD and SIL were a bit surprised last night to find me quite calm offering them a hot drink etc as they were in full rescue mode bless them.

Went downstairs and took some tea back up to bed as I am not sure the gas is back on. If not I have an electric grill and microwave so can use up sausages and beans for lunch.

Having a quiet day and just relaxing. I don't want to go out in the howling wind and look at all the damage further down.

I did manage to phone the EA selling our house to reassure him and the buyers that I and the house were perfectly safe, being at a distance from the evacuation zone and uphill. Added that they were welcome to come and have a look at the house if they wanted.

Hugs to all especially RR, TA, Floss, csarina, hester and LW,
