Cheap smart TV

Hi everyone I have been looking on websites and to be honest I am a bit puzzled by all the technical stuff.
I want a cheap smart TV which will allow me to watch services like BBC Iplayer.
Also for my current TV I use a indoor ariel because the reception is bad. If I get a smart TV which will be web connected do I still need an ariel?

I wouldn't seek out a smart TV. I use an Amazon Fire Stick which is much better than any Smart TV I've seen.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Buy a Now TV box from £10 upwards, will give the major UK broadcasters players and access to subscription channels at extra cost if you wish.0

The TV needs replacing anyway.0

That's fine...just don't go seeking a Smart TV. A normal TV with a dongle or a box is much more powerful, can easily be replaced and it's much cheaper than buying a Smart TV which could be up to £100 more than exactly the same model without the Smart features.
My TV with the Amazon Fire Stick is not connected to an aerial at all. It's wirelessly connected to the broadband router and can still show every channel that is streamed online.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Richer Sounds will beat any price, providing the item is within 50 miles of the shop you visit or the price includes delivery. The warranty has to be the same, too.
Going for a cheap tv,may be false economy, as a number of cheap brands break down just out of warranty and being based abroad are difficult to deal with.
Some Smart tvs will lose some of their catchup channels when the manufacturers change software and so no longer support older systems.
Having said that, I bought a smart tv (42" Panasonic, with 5 year warranty) from Richer sounds for just over £400, but it was bought because of picture quality as you can catch up on your computer, anyway.0 -
Richer sounds are brilliant... Like others have said don't bother with the smart functionality of a TV, I use a ps3 bought preowned from Game for £60 which has all the streaming apps and doubles up as a bluray player with a ps3 remote is very easy to use.0

Many (very cheap) Blu-Ray players are capable of receiving BBC iPlayer etc.
As others have said, SMART TV functions are replicated by other cheaper (and superior) means.
To receive Freeview you'll still need an external aerial, regardless of the TV being web-connected.0 -
Smart TV just adds 'smartness' (internet connectivity) to a normal TV. You will still need an aerial to receive Freeview which is where I guess you watch most of your TV.
Different smart TVs have different software and capabilities. Most have iPlayer, but not all will have services for ITV, C4 and C5 for example. You need to carefully select what services you want.
Or plug your PS3, 4 or XBox 360 or One in and enjoy lots of the 'smart' apps your TV might not have.0
