Recommend Car Tyres

I drive a Ford Fiesta ST-2 and I do roughly 6-7k a year and I need 2 tyres for the front.

Do any of you drive the same car or similar engine power who can recommend a decent pair of tyres without breaking the bank?

  • You'll get some Michelin Pilots from blackcircles for £84 each. But my guess is you'll prefer them at £43.

Out of that lot, I'd be avoiding anything below the Uniroyals or Avons, just over £50, like the plague.
The £55 Vredesteins would probably be my choice if budget was key.
Next step up would be straight to the Michs at £73.

Oponeo is also a good choice of you have a local tyre fitter that is happy to fit up customer supplied tyres.

I have always had good result from Toyo Proxes T1R and previously the T1S

Hankook are well proven tyres and not expensive.

Money now object I would probably go for Michelin.

There are not really many bad tyres these days, even budget choices like Nexen are pretty good.

GoodYears and Avons as decent with Avons usually being a bit cheaper in my experience.

A good source of info specific to your car may be on a Focus owners forum.

I'd think a Fiesta specific forum may provide better results.

You want to put money on that?

Sure, no reputable vendor will touch the TOTALLY iffy end of the by-the-container chod, but I'll bet you that the £30 random-brand end of Camskill's range is still comically bad. Maybe no lethally bad, but still... For the relatively small saving over reputable lower-price stuff, they're somebody else's bargepole. If they were on a car I was buying, I'd be budgeting for four new tyres straight off.

I bet he's back with a long winded arguement, without any facts or substance are going with you.
  • how do these tyre manufacturers grade the fuel efficiency on the tyre label.

Using the Michelin PS3 for example has a grade F. Doesn't it all depend on the driver in regards to the tyre fuel efficiency?
