  • You literally cannot win. :rotfl: Whether you're trying to be positive, looking for advice on a serious issue, or ranting about something trivial; not only will someone almost always disagree but they'll also tell you in passionate detail why your opinions/actions are disgraceful (and someone else will tell you why your post wasn't worded correctly and how it could have been better). Merry Christmas! :)
  • I agree with Anatidaephobia...

It reminds me of a certain newspaper, well, at least, the online version of it. Which will be a resolution of mine in the new year not to read it anymore. Ironically, I do not even read the articles, I just look at the headline, look how it is cleverly worded to rile up the reader and then scroll straight down to the comments and then predict what the tone of the comments will be.

What a miserable place this planet is!

Honestly OP, your words have really been misconstrued.

Most of us are fortunate enough to have something to be thankful for, even if our lives have other challenges. I took that sentiment from your OP.

I usually find that those who fly off the handle at the smallest thing or who look for offence, are those with the least to be bothered about. Many people seem hate those who find the good in life, that seems to me what has happened on this thread. It says much more about them than it does about you.

I do understand that people have issues that mean christmas can be stressful, and not enhoyable. For the past 10 years or so now every single christmas be it xmas eve/xmas day/boxing day i have had a depressive episode that has essentially ruined christmas. But this year, for the first time i actually had a good christmas (went to the bf's and spent it with him and his family), and i don;t feel bad saying i'm thankful i had that, which i think is similar to what the Op was trying to ssay, that they were grateful they had a good time with family. Why its descended into what it has i don;t know

Whatever, wishing everyone a healthy and happy 2016.
    Let's take this sentiment forward.......:T
  • I don't take offence at what the OP has said, I've had a whinge in a thread this christmas, I had some really good advice/help & suggestions, so I'm glad I posted. Most of the time I take things in my stride, I have a severely disabled adult son, 2 young kids, live on an island off the Scottish coast & my husband works away on a 3 week rotation, I cope pretty well on a day to day basis, but when my tumble drier broke & I couldn't get a replacement for 2 weeks last year, you should've seen my meltdown on a disability forum I'm a member of, it was proper lay on the floor waving my arms/legs in the air job. People didn't mock me for it, they picked me up, dusted me down & gave me lots of tlc, just by venting it helped me, maybe it's because people on that forum were/are all in the same boat, whereas on here it's more of a mixed user group & maybe some would think a broken tumble drier would be a trivial problem.
Anyway, I am waffling, I think I'm trying to say, it's horses for courses, I think most people on here can find something to be grateful about even in dark times but venting now & again is no bad thing either.
I wish everyone on here, a very happy, healthy & stress free as possible 2016.
