    Morning all,

I seriously hope my bin men are strong when they collect my wheelie bin on Thursday. Ok, they dont physically have to lift it any more just wheel it to the truck but it still weighs a ton!

Unfortunately ive fallen off the OS waggon big time as half the nice stuff hubby chucked in the trolley has had to be thrown. I cant eat it because its too fattening (and ive got a mountain of chocolate to wade through) and he spent boxing night throwing up. Nothing wrong with him, he just cant digest rich/fatty foods. The list of what i cant give him is growing by the week. I'm afraid 'Youngest' isnt eating either. The cold he had before he broke up from work has come back and bit him on the bum. He spent all yesterday in bed. Of course its got nothing to do with him going out Christmas Eve, getting hammered and walking a mile through the rain to his mates house with no coat on.... Damn kids, you cant tell them anything. Anyway, appointment at the doctors has been made.

Oh whilst i remember. I had a letter from the manufacturer who made my tumble dryer Christmas Eve, recommending i dont use it unattended as its at risk of setting on fire! The thing has got to be 4 years old. My previous tumble dryer was the same make and model number and guess what? It set on fire! Hubby said i didnt clean the lint out often enough but i guess it was a major fault with the appliance. Seeing my tumble dryer catch fire in my kitchen scared me half to death and now without fail, my tumble dryer gets vacuumed out on Wednesdays. Lint of course is removed after each use. Anyway, ive got to sort out an engineer to come and make a modification. I'll do that today.

I'm feeling a bit rough, my sore throat kicks in and out like a yoyo and i thought i'd gone blind when i woke up this morning cause my eyelashes were stuck together. Not sure whether its another medical problem or a reaction to the new mascara i bought. Hey ho, ive probably lost my eyelashes now trying to prise them apart but i hadnt got time to bathe them as i needed to use the phone.

Need to pop out today for a few supplies. I am trying to hold out doing a major shop till the weekend.

    Oh well, best get motivated.

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Morning everyone,

Not a bad morning here, dry at least.

Am taking my Mum home today as she wants a day at her own place to sort some stuff out before my brother picks her up tomorrow to stay with them until after New Year, we call it her grand tour going between our houses :) just love having her with us.
As a treat she has offered to take us out for lunch on the way, will be nice not to have to cook but hope they have something simple on the menu, bit fed up with so much rich food and look forward to getting back into our normal eating habits.
Used up a fair bit of leftovers yesterday, the turkey was sliced up on BD and is in the freezer, will be making some soup this morning with bits of veg, mainly cauliflower so will pop some blue cheese in there too.
Take care everyone especially Csarina x
  • Good Morning everyone, slept better last night but woke up hot a few times, strange to be too hot in December but I managed to drift back to sleep each time so feel refreshed today. DD1 and I are heading to the city on the bus today to dip a toe in whatever sales are on and for a visit to Ikea, she's fallen in love with a gadget to keep bread/rolls/croissants warm as they come from the oven that I got from there and I've said I'll get her one, just a blue padded fabric container with flaps to enclose the warm baked goods but very effective.

We've had a super Christmas and lots of family time which is just the best but now it will be nice to get back to 'everyday' and life as we know it. Not meant to be Bah Humbug but being peaceful, tidy and routine suits me much better than the high life, I love my home, my routine and my menu planning when it's the 363 days that aren't Christmas too.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and all have a good day today, Lyn xxx.

    Morning all,

Been raining here during the night but seems to be brightening up now, I have the wm on the go and will try to hang it out for a while.

Yesterday I cut the rest of the pork and put it in the freezer the turkey was cut up for dinner yesterday OH had cold meat and mash dd had veggi sausages and mash and I had a turkey sandwich which is my favourite at this time of the year and I did not want anything too heavy.

Today I might make up some soup for dinner tomorrow and cook the ham/ gammon joint for tea tonight with some wedges and pickles.

DD has said that she will get her sewing machine down to cut and hem a throw I got for the sofa, it is massive and I think we could make three normal size throws from it :D

Hester Hope hubby comes out of that soon xx

    Have good days all xx

Washing on the line and it us almost January!

I have found the ears for the panda, you will be pleased to know, I am sure.

We haven't much in the way of leftovers other tHan a few bits and pieces which can go into sandwiches, sone salami type stuff, which DH and DS like but I don't eat and that would keep if it was unlikely to get scoffed later. We don't have a turkey, I don't eat it, and the leftover roast beef has already been made into a meal and eaten up.

The ironing is calling to me but I am stalwart in my disregard of its siren song.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Good Morning all,dry here in Kent at the moment I do feel for those poor folk in the north they really are getting a bit more than their share of winter weather.

yesterday we took the boys and the dogs for a walk along the front at Herne Bay and the sun was out and it was really weird that it was so warm and mild 12c

This afternoon I am off to the cinema with my movie buff buddy DGS Ben.Tonight hopefully I shall be back at my house for a few days at least.I have lots of left over bits to use up and DD gave me a surplus bag of sprouts Any ideas what I can do with them apart from just steaming them as a veg I do like sprouts luckily :):) I also have half a sweetheart cabbage and a whole head of celery .The last I shall make into soup I think with some addition of a bit of nutmeg for a bit of a kick along with a good dollop of sweet chilli sauce. I do like spicy things
Half the left over cheesecake won't be a problem :):):) puddings for a couple of days I'm away again for New Year so I want to try to use up what I can.
Nice as the celebrations are I shall be glad for things to get back to normal and life to resume its 'rut' again :):):) I adore the festivities but I also like normality and routine as well.

Right time to get a wriggle on
Have a good day whatever you are doing. If its dry just take yourself off for a walk, it really does make you feel so much better.
    Cheers chums

  • Morning, bright and sunny, not how I feel just now; laundry out, it should dry.

More problems with Sons daughter, she asked for advice and then steamrollered through it because it was not what she wanted to hear. I am so tired of her and her wonderful so organised precious princess act, I refuse to have anything thing to do with messages so OH is dealing with her. It is also creating stress between the two of us.

I have towels to wash, will put them in the washer tonightso if its fair they can go out tomorrow, finish them off in the dryer if I have to. We have to go into town tomorrow I need spuds and we need to change our library books.

I have sewing to do but I just cannot be bothered, I have blocks that need hand sewing sitting in the sewing room, I just prefer to sit and read.

Despite my meds being upped, still not sleeping I was awake at 3am this morning again, not really eating either, cannot be bothered to cook.

Hester, I think Nicks daughter is suffering the same as your L & M its a real pain in the neck. I will not go into details on here but I really think she needs professional help, she is out of control. Her mother cannot control her, nor it seems can my ex husband, she seems to think the sun shines out of his A**e for some reason. Possibly because he has guaranteed to pay the funeral expenses. She does not seem to realise that they will come out of Nicks estate when they finally manage to sort it out. Sorry, rant over.
  • Good morning everyone and thank you NMLC . I would like to thank everyone for the lovely welcomes . I need to learn to remember everyones news so I don't keep making individual replies !
Quick pop in as I'm out to prepare the gardens - again - for storm frank It looks like spring outside but I am watching the wind begin to blow my huge bay tree about and the temperature has taken quite a dive . HESTER you do make me laugh. I love your black humour as one who has a very similar way of coping with things I think it keeps us sane .
Thoughts going out to all sad or struggling - look after yourself CSARINA .
It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.
  • :santa2: Good morning everyone, just!

    Big hugs to everyone.

I think we had some rain in the night, but it is quite dry and bright at the moment, I have some more washing on the line and a rather large ironing pile to tackle later.

Yesterday DH finished work and was home at 5pm so we took DS and us to the cinema to see the new Star Wars film, as they are both fans. It was really good and a lot easier to follow than all these marvel avengers films we have on DVD:rotfl:

As work is so quiet DH is off today:j but will only have NY day off before continuing to work as I'm sure it will get a lot busier.

We are going to pop out and DH is going to get a haircut and will have a browse around the Charity Shops.

Didn't get my budget done yesterday, so something to work on I think. I will have to pick up DD this evening from Bromley so will combine it with a trip to a big Mr T's to see what bargains I can find.

I am finally beginning to see inside my fridge again. I just have a little turkey to use up so I am thinking a risotto for dinner.

DS is working this evening at the pub until finish and then has another 2 days off before working a day shift on NY day.

I do hope everyone has a lovely day, and I'm another one hoping that normal routine will resume again soon:rotfl:

  • Hi all

Well in desperation I have joined the Flylady thread and the MF thread, it means I can bore more people that way.

NMLC, I didn't even notice it was the wrong date, I did that once and got a real telling off from a previous MSE'r.

Gers, I hope Frank isn't too bad.

    Welcome back Jlhmd666.

Thanks RR, if he doesn't soon I will be done for murder.

AOD, that made me laugh about the ironing.

Sprouts & cabbage JackieO, boy it's going to be windy in Kent!

Csarina, my heart goes out to you, I only lost a mother in law, how you cope with losing a child & family problems I do not know.

Pollyanna I'm glad you appreciate my humour, some people find it too black, but it is my coping mechanism.

    Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
