O/S Daily Tuesday 29 September 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and getting ready for work. Boys still in their pits.

Still dark, wet underfoot again.

Lunch yesterday was pasta in a creamy mushroom sauce and LO meats and a side serving of peas with warm rolls. LO choc gateau and cream for dessert. Have a few LO’s left in the fridge, but not much, so will see what I can serve with those to finish them off today.

I’ll be heading into town this morning, I need to visit the bank and building society, think the boys will be coming with me. I need to stop off and do some food shopping on the way home, don’t want to spend too much though.

We had a very lazy day yesterday just stayed at home and we did find homes for the new bits from under the tree, watched tv, played on games etc, ate and drank. I’ll be glad to get out today for some fresh air – both DH and myself said last night that we should have made the effort to have a ride out and get some fresh air! I did have the WM on the go though, as the dirty wash basket was overflowing – it’s now nearly empty, I will be doing some ironing today and will shove the hoover round and hopefully get some baking/cooking done. I have to work tomorrow morning, so I need to iron my work blouse – if nothing else! DH is working today but is then off until after NY.

Keep safe and well x

  • Morning all. Thanks NMLC but you had me confused with September for a minute!!

We are promised a nice day today so venturing out before we are bombarded with torrential rain again tomorrow! I need to collect my medication from B**ts and also pick up Mr TA's scrip (if they ever got it done right!) from the surgery. And also hand in the BP monitor and week's readings I have been doing. (We won't talk about them, other than to say they weren't good and I expect to be summoned in to see someone!)

We finally ate the last of the bits and pieces lurking in the fridge for lunch yesterday. I did some haddock for tea and we did enjoy it after all the rich and fattening food we've been eating. Mr TA has suggested that, whilst we are out and about this morning dealing with all things medical, it would be nice to treat ourselves to lunch somewhere. Who am I to argue with that?! It will be lovely to escape cooking for a change.

I am feeling a bit easier than yesterday thankfully. As the NHS can't seem to sort me out I keep reading up about herbal or natural remedies and trying out various things that seem to work for others. Some have helped a bit and some not at all. It's a bit of an expense but if I hit on something that works for me then it's worth it!

Have a good day all ((((HUGS))))) where wanted/needed. CSARINA you are in my thoughts so much, it's been a horrible time for you. Take care all xx

  • Morning all. Quick drop in to say hello to new people and happy birthday to anyone celebrating.

About to turn turkey and stock into curry and soup. I will NOT waste anything that is in the fridge!

  • Good morning everyone. I have slept well and am hoping that I may be developing a better sleep pattern.

Nothing specific to do today, so I will potter about and also finish making the panda that I started and nearly finished yesterday.

I really need to attack the ironing pile, my least favourite job.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Hi all,

I,m off to work (only the morning) and have put a load in WM before I go, DH will sort it when finished.

Dinner tonight is a takeaway, as it was my Birthday last Tuesday, but as DH hurt his back and was laid up, I was rushing round getting him to Dr,s and 'creating Christmas', looking forward to it - yummm - at last a meal I have,t cooked LOL. I have the last 2 mince pies as brunch for work.

This PM, I will clear out the fridge and make soup with any LO veg. And I want to do a freezer audit before I go back to proper work, my mission is to do away with the chest freezer this year, as I,m sure I spend more as it,s there and needs filling - we do have an American style fridge freezer too.

Have a fab day all X

    Morning everyone.

We are battening down the hatches as Storm Frank is due to sweep through later this afternoon and lasting until tomorrow. This seems never ending but we had it worse last year when lightning took out telecoms over a huge area and for a long time.

I went to bed at 7pm last night and slept all the way through until now, out flat. No idea why.

Once the pre-storm stuff is done I'll be pottering around. I'll defrost some meat and cook it off, probably chicken as I seem to have too much of it.

    Have a good day everyone.

Good morning everyone. I am determined to get back into the swing of OS. Had a serious old style relapse earlier this year and everything went out the window :o

Today I need to make a start on decluttering again, especially with all the toys and things which have now joined the household. Already have two black bags which I will pop along to the charity shop this afternoon.

I also need to take control of the cleaning again. I made a room by room list ages ago and then ignored it but will get that out again and give the kitchen a good clean today.

There is some left over beef in the fridge so I will be making a beef curry for tonight's tea :)

Csarina you are in my thoughts

Hugs to Floss. LW and anyone else in need.

Pollyanna I second what Mrs LW & JackieO said about the internet.
My hubby is still struggling with his mum's death so although he made the effort to be sociable when we visited DD and when my 2 DS's visited he has spent every day shut in his study. He came out on Christmas day long enough to eat a meal and the same yesterday, apart from that I don't see him. He has done this since November then MIL died.

Our 4 year old DGD asked me why he shut himself away so I passed her question on to him. He replied 'Explain to her that I'm still sad about my mum, so I sit in my study and talk to her'
I replied 'That's nice, when I'm dead maybe you can sit in here and talk to me then, because you aren't talking to me now'.

Probably not the best reply, but hey ho!

So enough of me whinging, I'm having great fun playing with the steam cleaner I got for Christmas, yesterday I cleaned the kitchen doors and they look much better.

Today I'm going out for a walk and I need to feed a colleagues cats, what an exciting life I lead.

    Have a great day everyone.

    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone :hello:

I had a good nights sleep last night so I feel much better today. I am another one who is using up the leftovers in the fridge. I am going to make a big bacon and cheese quiche for the family to have with wedges and beans whilst I am going to have a baked potato with salad and beans. I should be skinny by tomorrow surely :rotfl::rotfl:. The soup sounds like a good idea too so I will be finding out what veg is left lurking in the salad drawer.

We all had a good clean up of the house yesterday so just a little tidying is needed today and of course the never ending washing needs sorting out. I am desperate to take the decorations down so hopefully the storage crates will arrive today. I am also going to sit down whilst it's quiet and work out the finances for the next month. I have been given lots of beautiful notebooks so I will use one of them to write it all out.

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
