We went to Marrakesh. We climbed Atlas mountain, went to a Berber camp in the desert, went on a very very long camel ride, visited the market, had a massage and also went quad biking in the desert.
It is worth reading up on it, as there are a few things to be careful of, for instance in the market the local ladies dab you with henna then expect you to pay for it. Likewise, if you take photos of the snakes and snake charmers you are forced to pay for the privilege.
Overall though we had a wonderful time, and I would highly recommend Marrakesh
Thank you, can't wait, thank for the tip re henna,...they do similar in tunisis but it flowers, cant wait for the market.xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
I had a bargain or 2 in Boots - my store had a small array left, it was mens new york yankee sets and then kids minions
I soent £20 on gift sets - 80p and £1. so raided the shower gel and deordrant for grandad hoodie (smell sweet for the rest of the yr...the soap on a rope - were taking them out with us to Gambia.. win win on all ways. xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Just checking in with everyone.
Well done with all of the recent bargains.
I went to Tunisia a couple of years ago with OH. I know a lot of people haven't liked North Africa and whilst it wasn't the best holiday I've ever been on, we had a nice time.0 -
Nothing left in Boots after the 50% sale... except expensive wrapping paper so didn't bother to look!
A weird week.
Washing machine not fixed- rushed home for the repair man- nothing nada (Weds) turns out the part not arrived but he didn't think to phone me! Phoned several times y'day. Answerphone. Seems the part was sent to Devon - specail courier delivery expected Monday am.
Tuesday got letter with misprint which I read as make an urgent appt to talk to Dr about recent tests. (X rays) So 4 hours of worrying later, when GP phones, turns out knees are (as expected) very arthritic.
2 days later appt for consultant in March. In the 10 days between Irish trip & cruise.
More hassle on phone trying to get repeat prescription for when I am away. The only thing that is on repeat is an eye ointment that has been recalled and not available until at least March. Even got to ask about substitute for that. It's a big pain
Also Tuesday- very strong wind took the car door with it and snapped off the something strap- stops the door swinging wide. Then I couldn't get the door closed!! Garage took 5 hours over it today ... with a bill. Ouch, hey only £115!
Today spent time on line comparing car insurance. Waste for me because it's critical to know how the insurers view ROI. Is it part of the British Isles? No extra insurance needed! or is it part of Europe? In which case european cover needed at quite a mark up.
Decided to stay with existing company, and it includes breakdown cover.
As they say "Simples"
Oh no... somewhere along the line last year they recorded dob wrongly- just one day out and I didn't spot it. I have to send proof of my own identity, luckily passport is scanned in and the printer has worked this once!
One thing is progressing well- the SIRT diet. Think I will soon turn into kale, so I will be green and cabbage like!! But some weight has gone and the good knee is happier.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

katie sorry you've had a challenging week. I hope next week is better for you. We must be cosmic twins, as I've had a similar week to you. I was driving OHs car and the ignition got stuck and I couldn't turn the engine off. In the end, I went to the garage and they sorted it out. They showed me how to start it, but it's really dodgy. The bad news is that it's going to take a couple of weeks to get the replacement parts.0

Hi all, sorry I've not been around much but I've been reading the posts.
I've found it hard to catch up with everything I had been ill just before Christmas then I got the same darn thing again afterwards, then a lot of mystery stomach problems (last one on Wednesday) and then DS2 had an epileptic fit in the car on the way to my house on Thursday, his support worker called paramedics and as it was so close to home they did all the checks etc here so this time's home visit was a bit out of sync.
I got drenched yesterday and today in the bad weather and am now having a rest so will do the replies another day.0 -

I found a single, solitary pair of Christmas socks in Tesco this morning for 50p, so I snapped them up. I normally buy presents with a person in mind, but I haven't decided who to give these to - I have lots of women in the family, so they won't go to waste.0 -
Finally, finally the washing machine is fixed. Twice I have dashed home to find....no little repair man, and no explanatory phone call, really frustrating. His excuse was that he was in the car and didn't take note of my number (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for the first time, but after that I left messages, maybe not with my number?) Anyway the mess up was all Zanussi's fault, not sure how they mixed up an order for Lincs with Devon!!
Have managed to get a load of whites washed- bliss!
7 days of the Sirt diet , and as it promised, 7 pounds lighter. I told a friend I was going to be green and cabbage like after all the rocket and kale and she said "you'll be o-kale!" My tastes have changed, I have even managed to eat a teeny bit of chilli! Now have to wear a belt with my jeans or there will be more than builder's cleavage!!
Collected up my doggy duvet monies this week. Total to send to charity is £76, mainly since Christmas so have reached the £500 mark and there are only a few left in PO! Going away on Monday so I don't know if any more will get made as I really need to pack!
Luckily I had a conversation with a friend about an online vet suppliers and she asked if I had bought my wormers. Honestly I had forgotten all about the Pet Passport and getting the hounds wormed- another job for Friday.
In the meantime hope everyone is fit and well. Off out now for the bedtime tramp round the block- looks clear and brrr... cold!!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
