  • Oh, must keep an eye out for something like that. I like to get them a small egg and a present too and they would be ideal. I always seem to miss the deals on sale in the Asda near us. Too many people there at the right time means nothing left by the time i get there, but the Tesco does seem to have a little more leftover.

    Santas Challenge - Feb

Its 10 months today is Christmas Eve....

    Mothers Day
The next event on the calender is Mothers Day (6th March) an early one this yr, hopefully the cards and presents soon be sorted, the gentle (or not so gentle nudges...) can be given.

Dont forget the Monday - Mothers Day items will be reduced.... so may be great idea for bday / xmas ...

    Emergency Purse
The idea of the emergency purse is for an emergency - work on the basis of car parking / taxi (whether thats hopsital/friends - £15 / £20. I know it seems daft saying have some money sitting around, but if you have to literally leave at a moments notice - you dont have to worry about cash machine / wheres the handbag... you can just grab and run.

    Presents[/COLOR
A lot of companies still have clearance sales online (Argos you can search in any stores clearance section), see if there are any items which may be suitable for your lists.

    A new recipie
A bit of fun... grab one of those recipie books. online search engine, choose something new, see what delights we have...

    Miss Hoodies corner
Trying to be gentle... this month is clean and sort those hidden spaces, whether its the under the stairs cupboard, the built in wardrobe...now is its special time

    Easter Eggs
At the mo the supermarkets are falling over themselves to get us to buy from them.... dont be tempted to eat them....

    Monthly reminders...
    Have you run anti-virus
    Checked the smoke alarm works
Backed up any new photos / documents

    xxx

Theres never an easy way to give bad news, as most people know my dad was recovering from cancer, when they found secondary cancer Nov last yr, we were told then it would be pallative care, but it was cancer 0 Dad 1... the score now reversed, and cancer is winning hands down.

Weve got some time, trying to do the best we can, we're all finding it hard, but without sounding daft Miss Hoodie is so strong, shes being a real trooper.

I'll be about even if its in the background x

My decluttering has started.... we have a garage that doubles up as junk room / suitcases / carboot stuff.... So yesterday I started tidying up, decided car boots are not the most pratical way to move forward.... so I took about 30 carrier bags to a charity shop.

Went to a local doggie charity... xx

Better see where I am with the challenge...

    Mothers Day
    Mum - Handbag and card
Me from Miss H... card (soap and glory set)
    Nanny Hoodie - card - ???
Nanny P (from Miss H).card and The theory of everything DVD

Dont forget the Monday - Mothers Day items will be reduced.... so may be great idea for bday / xmas ...

    Emergency Purse
(Aim) - £5 of change in ashtray in car for parking, £5 in purse in car
    £20 - Emergency purse

The reason I put this as part of the challenge - when Grandad Hoodie ended up in a+e late ngt - went in ambulance with him - hunt around for change + £10 for taxi, - sounds daft 95% of my spend is debit cards/ online - never really leave cash in bag (once had my handbag stolen - cleared the lot out).

    Presents[/COLOR
Just hot Argos clearance - got new quilt cover, and Tv... (whoops 4got to look for xmas...)

    A new recipie -
Have found a recipie for white choc liquer - if I'm making some for Xmas will need to trial it...
    Have a internet search...

    Miss Hoodies corner
I have got to do the cupboard under the stairs and built in wardrobe.

    Easter Eggs
At the mo the supermarkets are falling over themselves to get us to buy from them.... dont be tempted to eat them....
(token one for Miss Hoodie (shes had an early Easter prezzie - VW camper quilt cover), Nanny Hoodie, Me, - Other Grandad... 4 from Tesco - be sorted...

    Monthly reminders...
Have you run anti-virus - Yes
Checked the smoke alarm works - Yes... someone forgot to the shut the door when they were frying bacon....
Backed up any new photos / documents - brought a spare memory stick, next purchase is a back up jobbie...

Now have my laptop its fab, got some new anti virus - so finding my feet, Miss Hoodies laptop got fixed, (being used as a spare)

Some good news - the lad that does all my computers, he managed to save my photos from my hard drive, and he found some files on his equipment at home from 2 yrs ago, when he did the computers before.

I'll be glad when Sat comes round, be the 1st day this week that I havent got to go anywhere, get a rest.... xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
  • Morning all
Hugs mum2one, it is difficult and there aren't really any words that will help or make it easier. Been in your position with my dear fil who had a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer that he lost five years ago. Take each day as it comes, talk to each other and well done to miss hoodie for being so brave. Hugs to you all.

Will check through the lists later and see where I am with things.
Hope everyone is as well as can be.

    Hi everyone.

Mum2one, I'm sure everyone reading this thread will be thinking of Grandad Hoodie and the family and encouraging you all even though we can't be literally there in person.

I expect trying to carry on as normal (even though very hard) is helping such as the challenges. It's been such a big part of your life as well as the car boots and other sales.

Yes that's a very good idea about the emergency purse because even though there could be spare money available you may not remember where it is in a hurry or you'd need to empty a loose change box so that's not very good for a taxi unless it's one or two pound coins.

mum2one sorry to hear your news.

    Feb challenge
I plan on buying grandmothers day cards next week, as I have the day off work.

Emergency purse - I do something similar already. I have around £50, which I can dip into if needed. I recently popped a tyre on my car, so the money came in handy for that.
