My little computer died - the screen looks like been cracked - when u switch it on looks like a spider crawling across - bless there hearts mum and dad had a 2nd cheque from sential card scheme - as they say they wouldn't got without me.... So they gave me £200 2wards a new computer - fb the guy who fixes my computers he found me a Hp for £300 weekend speCiAl - yep have it.... When checked on Monday gone up to £370.

That's being sorted - he's looking at the others to see if anything can be salvaged - hoard them till get new one - if no good he strips memory etc off and parts go to charity.

    Hi everyone,

Mum2one, you are always so busy with your makes and money saving. Yes, that's a shame about the American trip being in term time. It's great you've got a new computer and that you have someone trustworthy to help with it all.

Looks like you've got some exciting trips lined up. What are you doing with all those extra tubs of chocolates from Christmas?

I suppose my main review tip from 2015 for myself is to get organised earlier. There was a lot of leftover drink which my friend bought but they can be used throughout the year for visitors so not a problem.

I liked reading about that meal you had partly paid for with a voucher.

Katiehound, I hope you get your health improved in time for your next trip. How do you manage with dancing compared to walking and ordinary things at home?

What a big relief getting the washing done at home. It is such a nuisance without a machine and it's not easy usually with the repairmen either unless your lucky.

Chanie - have you got your car fixed?

Washing machine- luckily we have a very reliable man who does domestic appliances, and you're right , it can be hit or miss. I had a local man come from a shop in town (some years ago) looked at the w/m and couldn't find what was wrong- charged £50 call out fee. "My" chap doesn't charge a call out fee and only £25 + cost of part- presumably more if a long involved job. Washing about to go out on the line in the sunshine.

My next trip is to Ireland, so lots of driving and sadly no dancing! The next cruise is mid March. Dancing comes in short bursts of activity rather than a longish walk so it is easy to sit down and give the knees a rest. I no longer choose the cha cha cha- too much for the knees with speed and twisting! Generally I choose to dance rather than have an exhausting excursion sometimes.

Vet products? I always buy my wormers online. In used to buy Drontal in the past but there is a cheaper version called Cestem by Ceva which is exactly the same drug. Works out at least 1/3 cheaper than by buying at vet. We need to get the Pet Passports sorted tomorrow so I take the tablets with me, vet watches and then signs the paperwork. I have a box of biscuits in the car by way of a thank you- for the staff!
certain flea treatments also available online without prescription- seem to think there's a cheaper version of Frontline (Fibrospot?) but this particular drug is not as effective as it used to be. Luckily my two don't seem to attract the little horrors!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

  • A Cruise! Who with and where to? We aren't doing one this year. Just a normal land holiday, after many years of cruise holidays it will be very strange to be in one place for so long. I didn't think i'd ever take to them, but half an hour on board the first one we ever did.. Emerald Princess in the Caribbean in her first season..i was so hooked. Even got my sister and her kids hooked on them. They go every year after my constantly going on about how great they are.

We are off to Hawaii in 3 weeks. Last big holiday before the baby. I'm so behind. I'm usually very organised, but done nothing this year. The morning, well, all day long sickness kicked in a few weeks ago and has left me feeling awful. Haven't felt like moving, let alone organising and ironing. Hoping it'll pass before we fly.

A couple of family members were recently on a cruise and they loved it so much, they are going again. Their ship had a theatre, shopping centre and even a park. I didn't realise there was so much to do on a cruise.

I had another sneaky purchase today. My local Tesco had reduced some of its Star Wars stuff and I picked up a Millenium Falcon key ring for £3. I remember seeing it before the new film came out, but it was £6!!!!! I was thinking about giving it to OH or DN, but went for OH, as I think it's a bit too grown up for DN, who is 11.

Wow to the cruises I'd love to but never got round to it... I was a late bloomer with travelling, didn't have 1st proper foreign holiday till I was 28, Tunisia was 1st stop - always part of my heart will be there.

Good luck with the all day sickness hopefully it will settle down soon, have u tried ginger biscuits, I remember when I was pregnant with miss hoodie - I was going to Kenya in the March, move to Devon for summer season then goa in Nov... But the Jan of that yr - the little stick went blue - ended up in Cyprus 10 weeks gone, Tunisia 16 weeks, morning sicknes could be timed to the min . 8am - the poor person in the next room didn't need to set an alarm... Turkey 21 weeks - still sick as dog - till the evening I didn't eat melon (only fruit the hotel had) wasn't sick - that was the last day!, Tunisia at 27 weeks - I was the only English person in all inclusive that was sober.... Sure that's where she got her travel bug from xx

Thou bless her she's gone for a sleepover 2ngt, so crash in pjs with the tv xx

All the Easter discussions has made me realise I need to get prepared for Easter, as its really early this year.
  • Small easter eggs are 75p now in Tesco. I did mean to get some to put away for nieces and nephews, but, erm, they vanished ;)

    Thanks for the tip.

Last year sometime, my local Tesco* had some hexbugs with bunny ears reduced from £5 to £1. I bought them for our nieces and nephews as an alternative to chocolate.

    * although it's a busy store, there are things which don't sell well and they get reduced, so there are some good bargains to be had!!!!
