I bought some of the socks the Christmas before last for 50p for me and OH. This Xmas I bought them full price (but 3 for 2) for quite a few family members and they were well received, so I'd recommend getting some if you can.0 -

Hi everyone,
Katiehound, I have to ask as your duvets are so popular, are people coming from afar to buy them or do you live somewhere big as I was wondering why it is that so many different people are getting them?
I have enjoyed reading about all the latest bargains and it's still January.
I've got my friend really interested in the idea of all year round prep, she doesn't have a computer so I've showed her some of the opening posts for this thread and we will be doing the challenges together.
She's been messed about with a house swap so has been surrounded by boxes for months and sleeping on the floor (she got rid of her bed expecting to be getting a new one the following week in the new place) so I didn't expect she'd get into the swing of our thread until she's moved.
However, the other day she said she bought something ideal for me but decided against giving it to me this week and was keeping it by for Christmas as she wants to think ahead as thought of this thread.
Today we were meant to be going for a meal out, look at a few historical things but on the bus stop I felt really ill (had stomach problems all week) so we're back home and I'm going to find some gift hampers, cake in a jar, pot of golds etc to show her online.
She's joined in my 50p daily savings but been adding other loose change so has much more than me in the tin.
I've had a couple of birthdays this month.0 -
Evening all
Hope everyone is managing to stay safe and warm.
I'm on babysitting duty tonight, dd2 and family have gone to the threate with friends but the baby was too young so I've bagged him for the night. He's fast asleep at the moment. I'm tempted to wake him for a cuddle but I'm sure I'll get one at some point in the evening so I'll let him sleep.

Katiehound, i saw very reduced stuff at our tesco too. Cute penguin and Christmas tree socks at 50p. Also, there is a big Primark in Manchester and all their christmas t-shirts were £1 and jumpers £2. Got a few to put away. Sadly the decent sizes ad pretty much been picked through.
Raided the card factory near work today for any leftover Christmas items, and got 10 decent sized gift bags for £1 and quite a few "to both of you", "to all of you", "from both of us" cards fr 15-20p each too.
Had a sort out of my present cupboards and i thankfully have enough for all the birthday presents for people at work now. We got stuck in a trap where everyone suddenly started buying presents for each other, instead of just buying cards. Very difficult to get out of, especially if people buy for you, and with 30 people i now feel i have to buy for it can get very costly, even with small bits. So the Boots sale meant i got a LOT of body and bath gift sets, which i always seem to give. So i at least concentrate on bigger birthday and Christmas presents with work taken care of.
Due late August..so a good while off. Like i said, i shouldn't say anything, but too excited! But feel i have to get organised very much in advance this year.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -
No, I don't live anywhere big....perhaps word has got around re the doggy duvets. I hoped before Christmas that a couple of local papers had made a mention but as I don't buy a paper I don't know for sure!
When I delivered them on Weds the lady behind the counter said that someone had been asking because her puppy has chewed his up!! Shame for all my sewing but good for profits, and perhaps that's why they sell.
They are also a bargain- any size just the one price, that way folk can not say the small ones should cost less, this is thicker than that and so on. I'm told frequently people put a bit extra in the tin because it is for charity, and long may they do so!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Could you not suggest to your colleagues to either stop buying for each other or do a secret Santa. I bet there must be a couple of others who feel the same way. If you suggest it at a reasonable time e.g. September it may be considered.
We do secret Santa at work for £5. Last year, a few people opted out and so I did. Only because everyone buys junk which ends up in the bin. This year, I was going to opt out but everyone decided to participate so I felt i had to, but bought a 'nice' present. I remember when I saw my wrapped gift, I remember thinking 'oh, no, I bet it's one of those head massagers'. Lo and behold, it was and its already gone in the bin as useless junk.
Payday is tomorrow, thank goodness. I have a couple of birthdays and will make a start on some Xmas prezzies, too when I'm next at the shops.0
