Hi everyone,
Mum2one, thank you very much for all your updates, it's been such a difficult time for you and the rest of the family.
Katiehound - you must have had your op by now, hope you will be back to your duvets before long.
Crazycat lady - that's a good idea to make a start on the Christmas food cupboard now.
Mrs M - did you finish your hedgehogs?
Sorry I've been letting the side down, but my Special Occasions organising has been really last minute for birthdays etc even though I'm getting the reminders from our challenges.
I don't know if any of you remember a while back I mentioned a friend and I were thinking of setting up a baking business? Unless I imagined that I wrote it on here. Well, we've been testing recipes, contacting the local W.I (Country Markets) and this week we entered some cakes for a local care home baking contest (where ex MIL lives).
It was a bit of a fiasco to be honest as things didn't go to plan with the cake but luckily we had made extra for ourselves so had to use those after a bit of enhancing (as we'd already cut into them to eat after they cooled)
So had to spend the next day sorting out the cakes for the contest and taking up all the week as I had to get ready for DS2's visit this week and I had to get the baking friend to buy my birthday gift to mum as I don't have enough time.
And she's having to bake a cake for mum too as I can't fit it in.
Of course I could have bought the gift well in advance couldn't I? lol
I do manage to get some of our challenges done eg I've decided to get a gas monitor and started to vacuum my fire alarm - something I'd never heard of before mum2one started mentioning it0 -
Hi lovelies,
Another one who loves Christmas here!
Have read through the threads but will still take me a while to get to know all of you, mum2one sorry to hear of your loss.
:xmastree:
I have 13 people to buy for & have already started.
Managed to get a top for my Mum which was 1/2 price 40.00 to 20.00 & got my DH some Harris Tweed goodies around 1/2 price by buying them from Itison :T
Only bad thing about it is that I put them on the credit card :rotfl: will be paying it off in full at the end of this month once the wages come in!
194 days until Santa comes!

Hi everyone,
I have just bought this bag for MIL from Cath Kidston
http://www.cathkidston.com/bags-/button-spot-carry-all-bag-1015619
I do struggle with buying for the inlaws, MIL particularly, as we have different tastes. I thought a Cath Kidston shopper would be fairly harmless, if you see what I mean.0 -
Welcome Dolly Rocker! Nice to see someone else counting down to the big man's visit! It's june, surely the supermarkets should be putting out christmas stock about now
I feel safe making that joke on here.
Chanie, nice bag. Can't go wrong with that. Like you said, harmless, can't offend anyone. A lot of Cath Kidston's styles are like that i think.
I try every time they have a big sale on to get bits to put away, and for me! but most of the time i get an email and another email saying this and that are now out of stock, and i go from having 12 things arriving to having 3 and i give up. Their sale is the only one that comes close to driving me as insane as the Lush sales, which have their servers cack-up in worse ways every year. Took two hours of constantly hitting refresh this year and not knowing if the next page would load or not. Every year i say i'll give up and not bother, every year i pull my air out in frustration at it.Book a week challenge: 11/52. Competitions won in 2021: 120 -

That's lovely, I would appreciate something like this as a gift so think she will be very happy with it.

Haha all safe here!
Oh isn't it so annoying when websites just can't cope with the amount of crazy bargain hunters (myself included):rotfl:

I don't know about you all, but I feel more frustrated that an item is out of stock online than in store. I prefer my chances in store than trying online even though visiting a store requires me to get off my bum and get out the house.
Thanks for the comments on the bag, it gives me some confidence that it will be well received. MIL enjoys going on holiday and I thought the bag would be a nice holiday bag, particularly as cath kidston stuff has a real 'English' vibe about it.0 -
