Now... here is my dilema...as you can probably tell already... the replacement is coming and I also have the original...
Do I keep both and keep quiet?

no thats why im posting here.. i feel guilty so I think I should just return it.... right? =\
or am I being stupid?
Where do I stand legally... can i be prosecuted or can the neighbour be?0 -
The trick with stealing is to either:
1. Do the honest thing and give the item back
2. Refrain from making any mention of the issue and be a silent thief.
As a side note but your neighbors won't get into trouble for anything. They fulfilled their end of the deal, they delivered the item to you. They aren't thieves. It is you that you have to worry about.0 -
Call the company, get them to cancel the replacement. It may not even have been despatched yet. If it has then refuse delivery. Why do you feel that you are owed something for nothing? Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

Probably a troll thread but...
Contact the company and tell them to stop the delivery.
If they can't do that ask them to collect it.
But if you're in, refuse the delivery.0 -
What was the hassle exactly?
You only tried to contact the neighbour during one day.
Miraculously they have your your item on another day when they were actually in.
Return the other one. As everyone above had said, otherwise is dishonest and stealing and you have no right to keep it for any apparent 'hassle' you feel it caused. You've only caused it yourself.0 -
Just remember when they start the investigation and discover the neighbour gave you the item you can be charged for theft.0

This is 100% a troll thread0

It's not a troll thread. It's a genuine "what would you do?" question... and a lot of responses to be fair are kinda well, heavily biased and unrealistic. I mean even if they did contact the neighbour and the neighbour says "yes i gave him the item....i dont have it anymore" , It's not rocket science to say "they're lying and did not give it to me" it would be my word versus theirs and so nothing would ultimately happen... in regards to that. Whether they would invest in a lot more money to take one of us to court over it is the only thing I'm concerned with really but I mean for the price it is... I hardly think they would...
The item is actually faulty as I've now compared it with other peoples via youtube and the quality is shockingly poor...it randomly resets itself so I ultimately WILL be returning this but mainly because its actually faulty and whats the point of having it faulty + on my concious.
thanks for the replies non-the-less...
