How about sewing hand made Christmas stockings and offering to sew a name on them to make it individual, maybe have one with a name on it in the shop window.

Something that sells well for about £30-40 is felt bag liners/organisers like the samorga ones . I am on a mulberry Facebook group and the two ladies making them can't keep up with demand . I have few mulberry bags I could supply the dimensions for if you wanted to give it a go and I can send you photos Mooloo if you want more details . Just a thought .

Samorga have a Facebook page showing all their liners for Louis Vuitton mulberry etc photos and dimensions .

I do have a bag in the shop window, along with small makes, but the makes don't sell much. I think those coming into the shop are makers themselves, rather then people looking for gifts.
I need to earn £20 an hour to keep the shop ticking over, so the time to make items for selling prices me too high when you add the cost of fabrics.
I haven't actually run out of work, but know I am working slower, when the pressure is off.
Almost Free, I did take a look at those bags, but don't know how they do them for the price. If I run out of work then I certainly will make things, but I think that I'd need to sell them online rather than in the shop!
Staff analysed the figures for October 1st-10th for last year compared to this years and we were about the same at only £370 for alterations, so it's just that I was so very busy in the summer that it seems low. That would not be sustainable though, as rent and wages etc are double that for the time.
I will stay positive, and try and get my online presence sorted out!
At least I have work for the rest of the week. X

Maybe it would be an idea, in spite of the interruptions, to work downstairs rather than take the energy from the shop upstairs with you. I know it's less efficient sewing wise but it would make the shop look active and entice people in. Especially when makes for other people (e.g. blinds/curtains/prom dresses) and alterations and sewing lessons are the main part of your business, rather than haberdashery.

If I can put this up, I'd like people to take a look at the post here, about my Mum and her work.

I'm trying to post a virtual tour of the shop so people can see what I'm working with, but currently it's too big a video for the Facebook upload. So I will need to work on it first.

So excited. The video I thought FB had been unable to upload is now live on the Mooloo's of Brackley, FB page.
Unfortunately I can't seem to upload a working link. But if you can spare 5 minutes to find my page you can see how my little shop is currently set out!

Last night was my ladies lesson week 4! These ones are a lot slower and more serious than some previous ones, I'm not sure they will be finished in two more weeks!

Did I tell you I had looked at and analysed my budget for September and that I'd blown it out of the water spending £677 more than allocated?
Not counting the £1800 on the credit card for DS's debt debacle!
    I knew I'd spent a lot but that's a huge over spend.
Looks like it's going to be a no spend November, except I will be practising for the rest of October by the looks of things.
I was too late to cancel today's Abel & Cole delivery, and I have a muscle food delivery booked for next Wednesday. But it is going to be only real necessities like loo rolls, milk, eggs and yoghurt from now on!
I don't want to end up blowing the budget again just before Christmas.
Back to some weird meals using my extensive dry goods stores. Menu planning so I remember to soak pulses etc.
It's all about planning and energy levels!
This weekend, tomorrow is Biggests birthday, luckily she had her sitting room make over for that already.
In a month it is my friend's wedding, I think I will make her a thermal cooking bag.
I have the twins birthdays coming up, they will be 28 in November.
Not sure what I will get them?
Is it cheating to get something out of October if I have a no spend November?
Time to get up properly, wake DGD and launch ourselves into the day.
Yesterday she tried to wriggle out of school, I wonder if we get a repeat today.
