Mooloo's little tapestry of life, 2016

I agree that she cannot keep up with their normal washing, so Terry nappies would be a disaster.
72 nappies in Aldi are £5.79 and last around 2 weeks I think.
I realise paying the housing arrears is important, but I am not stumping up the £1,000 as they have to learn that they have a responsibility to inform the council of financial changed immediately. They should also prioritise the payments to clear the arrears first before they do anything else.
I only paid the Bailiffs because they had too be done. But I would help them look at budgets etc, but I don't intend to just turn into a cash cow.
What would have happened if you hadn't paid the bailiffs? Presumably they wouldn't have been able to take any goods - your DS and family sound poor. I would think they only think then available to them was a garnishee order on DS' wages. Yes, he would have had to make do with less, but at least it would have been over a considerable length of time.
We've had bailiffs around here a couple of times, for a guy who hasn't lived here for going on 15 years. They tried all sorts to get the money out of us, including intimidating me, trying to force their way in. I called the police and said I wanted them prosecuted for assault. I thought their behaviour was disgusting. They wanted me to prove who I am, but just because I now live where this guy they were chasing lived doesn't mean I have to. They could have checked the electoral roll, done some homework, or at least the people in the office could have done so, before letting the goons out to play.0 -
After I'd paid it I found out the debt was in her name. The rent arrears are being paid ( hopefully now), at £10 a week above the payment they are expected to pay. However she is in charge of that payment so I have to trust she does.
As she is under stress, and off sick, with her depression, nerves and god knows what else, then the added stress of the bailiffs keep coming had them all in a stress. You and I know that Baliff can't take the cot and Pram etc but she was adamnant that they would. Or that they would go to prison. You can't rationalise with hysteria. For peace of mind it was easier.
I've had a rubbish day at work, it was a struggle to get anything done quickly, and I have left staff to it and come home.
A cup of tea, and a short rest before I have to go and babysit.
Tomorrow is another day. I'm sure it will be a better one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
As far as I'm aware, the only bailiffs that can actually size goods legally or enforce payment on the doorstep are those from the High Court Enforcement Officers. Even then, as long as a substantial payment is made immediately they will often done to an arrangement to pay off the balance.
In this case, I don't think I'd have paid off the bailiffs. I'm sure there's advice somewhere on this site, maybe on the debt forum, as to how best to proceed with them.
I know it's too late this time as it's already paid but might be an idea to research in case you ever have to deal with them again.
Good luck :A0 -
Any bailiff (now called Enforcement Agents) can seize goods if they are allowed in to the property.
Only bailiffs (now called Enforcement Agents) collecting magistrates court fines, income tax or stamp duty have the power to force entry and take goods.
Bailiffs collecting any other debt have to rely on intimidation, threats etc even when the threats are not legal.
I have had a family recently where the bailiff has threatened to take their dogs - the chances of the dogs being taken (which are just normal dogs and not pedigree) are basically zilch as they have to have kennels to take them to and they are responsible for the costs etc.
The problem is that bailiffs will say whatever they think will persuade the debtor to pay, in Mooloo's son's case the threat of removing baby items has caused near on hysteria and in turn Mooloo paid the debt and too be honest anyone in Mooloo's situation would have probably done the same.0 -
I'm back from babysitting, I had to put fuel in the car, but luckily I had the cash on me. I only put £30 in at a time as I don't (didn't) do much mileage. Although if I'm helping family it appears that may now be more frequent!
Ds has text that there is work Friday and Saturday and possibly Sunday, so while that's great news for him, and my pocket I hope, it means no sleep ins for me.
As the work today was not very productive I am hoping tomorrow will be better.
I've DGD's birthday to sort out for next Tuesday.
We managed to get her Mum on Skype tonight. 1st time in 3 weeks. She recons they are coming up for the birthday on Monday/tues/wed. Nice of them to tell me, so I can make room and budget for extra in the restaurant etc!
I gather it's going to be a very expensive month for me in October too! -(
Such is life.
I better get my act together and find another income stream! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Last weeks Thermal cooking bag has arrived at its destination.
I have another one made and in the shop window. If I get quieter at work I will cut out another couple in the hope of selling them via the shop or the website.
Today is a home day though.
After the school walk, I'm going to spend 2 hours at home pottering before my doctors appointment.
After that it's time to take DS to the supermarket to do his food shopping. I sent him a reminder to do his menu plan last night. Fingers crossed he did.
After shopping and a bit of lunch, I am collecting my friend again, and we are attacking the spare room, I'm going to need to use it Monday.
It also means I'm going to have to attack the things lurking in my bedroom so they can sleep in here, as there is no room for the cot and a double in the spare room.
Looks like my day off is going to be a busy one. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Two hours saw me doing the kitchen, defrosting the freezer under the stairs, doing several loads of washing, and vacuum in the downstairs.
Ds tang asking if I could get his gf to her doctors for an emergency appointment before shopping. So I was straight from my doctors to get her. She is very stressed out And certainly needed it. I did suggest while we were in town we could do the food shopping but she was not feeling well enough and she said she didn't know what food they had. She did rant and rave about DS not doing enough! ( he was st work yesterday for 11 hours, as he was Saturday and Sunday. She is moaning that he hasn't done the housework! )
Personally I think she needs a lot of help. She's been booked into a well being clinic. She's been put on Fluxotine? And something else. I didn't go in with her so I'm not sure. I told her she should not be ashamed of asking for help from Home Start etc
Dropped her back home, collected DS and took him shopping. Then back just in time to collect my friend. So I missed out lunch.
My shopping is away. My menu plan is up on the fridge.
My friend helped me get the washing on the line, blitz the spare room and make the single bed up in there for me to use when DGDs mum comes up.
I then went back to see my Mum, and collect the rotary drier, ready to swap it for the broken one.
Brought the washing back in, even though it's still damp. But it can go back out in the morning.
We had a bowl of stew for tea, what I call a freezer dive. As it was meals in the freezer that had lost their label.
I'm tired now.
Tonight's job is to pair socks! While watching TV.
There is still a mountain of ironing to deal with.
But it will be Friday as I'm teaching tomorrow. Actually I'm teaching in the morning and the evening. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I paired loads of socks, checked tights and stockings for ladders while watching fill your house for free on playback.
I looked at the mountain, and decided to remove the bedding, towels, and seperate all of our things that I thought I could get away without ironing. Most of it! Yeah. So instead of a sofa full I have about half a dozen items. But now in both our rooms I have a pile of clothes to put away.
If I get my act together this morning then I might manage to do that before school run.
This morning I have a sewing machine to clean and sort, then I'm teaching for an hour. Then after 12 I have 4 1/2 hours to do the alterations. I shall be out of the shop dead on 4.30 as I'm back again by 7.15 to teach. So another long day. Well I say long but time flys so fast that it's more full then long!
I dare not look too closely at the bank balances, as there is a lot off budget gone out this month, and next month is the start of birthday season as well as Christmas to think of.
Starting with twin1 and her BF coming up visiting Monday for DGDs birthday, Tuesday. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Well DGD has a tummy upset, so we didn't go to school. I won't be going to work either.
So today, I am at home.
An opportunity then to do a lot of other things instead.
Once upon a time I would have looked at it as a disaster, but today it's an opportunity. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
What have I managed to do today. As well as surf the Internet, I've booked and paid for (gulp) Warwick Castle on the 9th Oct for 7 of us to go. Saved a bit by using my Kidspass app.
I washed another load of clothes, dried a load, and have a bleached load in, hoping to whiten up some of DGDs school tops as they are already ruined.
I washed up, had another freezer dive for dinner, and I have done the ironing generated yesterday and today.
I've put away DGDs clean clothes, cleaned out the hamster and the fish.
I've also regained a corner of my front room that was full of toys and junk etc.
So I am happy that I am actually achieving something other than sitting watching the tv. Although it is on in the background.
DGD is feeling better already, funny that, but good because it means she can go back to school tomorrow and I can get back to work!
So a few hours left to have a go at another glory hole. After a cup of tea! When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
