    My lot are locusts !!!

They'll eat anything.. though they have learned gradually that if they eat everything at once they don't get any more until the next shop/baking session .. DD1 asked today when am I going to bake 'her' a bacon and egg pie lol.. this is the child who claims she is veggie!!! lol

I have to limit fruit intake as well as they will happily sit and eat a huge bowl of fruit to themselves... DD5 (2) has been known to eat 5 satsumas one ofter the other (hubby was 'looking after her')

I found baking stuff like buns/jam cakes (jam tarts to everyone else) and saying they are allowed 2/3 a day each does work.

Other stuff I have a huge wooden chest which is gradually filled up with stuff for christmas but I keep other stuff to ration out through the month.. it has a huge padlock on and the key is hidden!! Definitely works for us, especially with DD3 who is a monster when it comes to food and will devour everything in sight she once ate an enormous chocolate cake all to herself.. the tesco ones which are meant to do about 18 people!!!

re the biscuits being guzzled instantly, if the kids help make them they are much more careful about how many each person should be allowed.
My two used to make them themselves after a bit of helping me and always pointed out that there were 5 each or whatever.
We had some sweet making books from the library and if someone fancied sweeties, they would say, is there any cocoa to make chocolate peppermint balls?
the biscuits went within a couple of days and i am making some more today i dont mind the kids eating them as long as tea has been eaten first. plus the fact that they are so easy and cheap to make helps my budget.

Love this idea pigpen think i will deffo have to do something like this as dd 2 just ets for eating sake so will have to use just a small portion of the budget for treaty things maybe a fiver.
i am finding things like cheese eat into the budget(and cereal and bread and milk lol the list could go on forever) as i like mine the stronger the better(always bogof) but the kids will only eat the mild stuff and use a huge block a week
I am looking for some really cheap easy cake mixes for deserts etc etc. and am off tomorrow to buy some butter to make some biscuits(sorry cant remember whose recipe they are)
The kids all but one start school again tomorrow and wedensday so that will help me out a bit with the amount of food we go through.

you cannot go wrong with jam doughnut muffins. ( recipe is somewhere in the bowels of the indexed collection!)

So quick and easy to make, even i can make these ( baking is simply not my strong point!) and practically free is you use value jam or even HM jam from the hedgerows.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
