1996 at a uni open day, it was a yahoo search for eddie izzard. Was the most incredible thing I'd ever seen at the time. I grew up with bbc master compacts at home and school, and had windows 3.11 386 computers at home and school for alevels for programming basic and pascal, but no internet access until I got to uni.MFW OP's 2017 #101 £829.32/£5000

Going to sound ancient, but does gopher over a terminal count? It was in many ways the predecessor of the web, in a time when protocols had names like gopher, finger, etc! My first graphical browser experience was them Mosaic to show my wife that you could find anything on the (then) www, she found an American hippy site and was marginally impressed. I told her that this was the future, that one day every pack of polo's world have a URL on it. She so did not believe me. Mobile phones were pretty new back then, too - now I'm writing this on one...
And I got an early Netscape browser, I think v0.91 or thereabouts. Loaded off floppy, amazing what you could fit on 720kB back then!0 -

Been saying this for ages - myself AND a few others on here.
Trouble is, this troll gets fed far too much.

Having looked at the OPs history, I don't think he's your common or garden troll. Trolling should involve some amount of posting something argumentative just for the sake of having a pointless argument.
This chap seems all about starting a "What's your favourite/first/best xxxxx?" thread and then disappearing off into the sunset. Pretty odd behaviour and if I was trolling myself, would say that it points to some sort of minor personality disorder. But that would be harsh and judgemental, and we can't allow that kind of thing on an internet forum, that would lead to anarchy.
I don't think that posting on this particular thread is feeding the troll as it's quite an interesting topic. But i get your point. He was banned from a bodybuilding forum - wonder if the question was "What's the most you bench pressed?"0
