Well I saw consultant but not discharged yet as a couple of my blood markers are abnormal so I have to have a CT scan to rule out disease and more bloods in four weeks. He's happy for me to have my PICC line out next week though so that's good. I'm trying to be laid back and not panic so good job I'll be keeping busy for the next few weeks. Scan should be just before or just after Christmas.
Not great that you are not discharged yet, but at least PICC will be out. Hopefully the scan will be before Christmas, ok you won't have result, but at least you know will be starting the new year without medical investigations.A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Cherry that wrapping is so cute and really festive.
I hope everything turns out well peppa, you're good for keeping yourself busy. It's the best thing sometimes
GTQ that's some great fundraising!
Oh Free! Twins is expensive! My brothers are twins.
Turned out most the cakes didn't even sell so I shan't be bothering next year. The person who didn't believe in jolly jars and so wasn't donating them will be having a (hilarious for me) surprise. His kid won one of mine, full of whistles, sweets, harmonica toys, clackers and it was a huge jar! Ahaha! DS won something on the kids raffle. A one hour horse riding lesson! And I won a bottle of wine.
I've never bothered with black Friday before, but I've wanted a new TV for quite some time when mum called me to say there's a HD LED 43" smart TV for £150 so I treated myself with the money my grandad sent a few weeks back. I got a jacket I wanted (but not for £30, it was £17), some half price LED tree lights, which should mean it's cheaper to run and some sellotape.
Expensive day but grandad will be pleased I spent the money. Bad mood has lifted. I think I was getting stressed out by various things. Dentist appointment went well but he wants to take out my wisdom tooth because it is over extended, rubbing my jaw and is of no benefit to me because it doesn't meet another tooth... I think that's why he said it was over extended. I'll be glad to see the back of it to be honest so I am glad he suggested it.0 -
Peppa- not the news you were hoping for but hopefully the markers will have disappeared from the next bloods, in the meantime if you want to have a blub and a panic moment then go ahead and let it out, don't bottle it up, we are all here for you, and I'm sure your girls and sister will be there for support, tissues and naughty comments! After that, try to concentrate on getting busy with Project Santa Paws and having a fantastic Christmas, complete with gorgeous tree and having a downstairs loo again once the project paws stuff is gone. (Flippant words but the best of intentions meant there xx).
Framaladindong-expensive day but a sense of satisfaction too I imagine that you have some bargains x (Nice one about the noisy jar- couldn't happen to a better person lol!)
Free and GTQ- hopefully lodgers will have been 'evicted' very soon!
Cherry- I love that method of wrapping!
Chrissy- did you mean that you are picking up your cards soon and want to take part in the swap? (sorry Im being a bit dense here x). I have put your name on the list just in case you do.lovin' this site!

Regarding unwanted lodgers... apparently my 4 (yes FOUR) cats think it's hilarious to bring me live mice when I sit in the kitchen in the evening working on the laptop... that's twice in a week I've had a lovely little present!
Also one dead mouse in the morning *sigh*
Blasted cats lol
Reminds me I need to make more paper tree decorations so the cats can destroy them without too much messDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Evening everyone, i had a nice surprise when checking my emails earlier i have won a bottle of Prosecco in a prize draw with British Gas :j:j I think i am going to haul all my pressies out tomorrow i started off wrapping as i buy but then the last few weeks i have just been chucking it all in my wardrobe, DD1 is at a christmas fair with DD2 and friends, DS is working on call so the house will be nice and empty to get on with it and of course watch some more christmas movies
FRAN well done on the black friday bargains, such a shame your cakes didnt sell, love the story about the jolly jar haha
MRSTINKS that is so why i couldnt have a cat, i would die if that happened to me, i remember when my other husky brought in a dead mouse and a dead pigeon both times i was on my own i just kept screaming luckily she took the mouse back out into the garden but the pigeon i had to move myself ewwwww

Haha Mrs Tinks we had 5 cats bringing us gifts. One of the cats was a bit dense and she always brought in live ones. They don't half move fast!
Congratulations free! What a nice surprise. Wrapping and watching Christmas movies sounds perfect.
We made biscuits, they sold, but there were hoards of cakes and things left at the end, so wasteful. They only wanted a paper plate full so we had some at home and DS enjoyed one for pudding today.
One year my boyfriend came to stay with me and my parents for a week. Day one and a pigeon flew into a window and died. Dad chucked it in the outside bin... In the height of summer... Maggots were crawling out at bin collection day. Boyfriend was so grossed out and more so that I was able to solve it - pour bleach, double bag and marigolds! He broke up with me later that summer. Not sure how much dealing with pigeon maggots had to do with it. Ahaha.0 -
You're most welcome newthrift
I got the toothpaste from Superdrug- it's Oral B to match the brush and was on offer.

Morning everyone
After a week of long hours and not being thrilled when woken by the alarm clock, it gets to Saturday and I wake up naturally fully alert before 6am and couldn't get back to sleep.
Today I have told DH that I am 'doing Christmas' all weekend, as I want to get all wrapped up and buy any outstanding gifts. I am therefore not available for any housework/child-activities or socialising until it's done. We go away to Ypres next weekend, so if I don't get it done this, then that only leaves me with a couple of weekends before Christmas.:eek:
Re- the mouse issue. We had problems for some years (more about that later). We live doors away from a pest controller so bought some poison from him. I know some people don't like this as they believe that the mouse will die somewhere inaccessible and the smell will be horrendous, but modern poisions aren't like this. There was only one time (the first) we got an awful smell and that was because the mouse had died in a ledge that was on the back of the fridge (on the outside, not inside the fridge!) and the heat from the fridges thermostat combined with dead mouse was making it smell. Pest controller also said you have to think about the nature of how a mouse eats, because by nature they are open to being eaten by a bird or fox etc, they will run round by your skirting board, pick up the food and take it back to their nest. This is why peanut butter and chocolate are recommended by people because the mouse isn't able to do this, it has to stay on the trap to eat it. If your trap isn't going off, I'd suggest that you are not putting the bait in quite the right place on the trap meaning mousey can feed quite safely.
I can't stress this enough please look for the entry point into your house and block it. We had problems for several years as DH insisted that 'we couldn't stop them getting in' Eventually (about 4 years later!!) he had a look and discovered they were making their way through the hole in our conservatory wall that was for the tumble dryer and some surplus floor tiles that we'd left outside was creating a nice ladder for them!! If you can fit a biro pen through a gap then a mouse can get in too.
The first mouse we had, was spotted by me on Christmas Day night when everyone else had gone to bed, so quite fitting it should end up being talked about on a Christmas thread. :rotfl:
And on the subject of unwanted creatures. I plan on making my 16yo son a 'tongue-in-cheek' hamper. He dislikes bees/wasps so I am going to make him a present to do with them:D I have some chocolates in the shape of bees that I bought in Belgium this summer. DD showed me a cushion in Next the other day, but DS was with me so I couldn't show too much interest. It looked like a wasp design on it but DS identified it as a bee, apparently he knew because 'you have to get to know your enemy'Has anyone got any other suggestions? (He will see the funny side)
Think I'm going to go into town shortly before anyone else gets up, get a mermaid blanket for DD and to arm myself with paper/labels/sellotape so I can barricade myself in my bedroom on my return.0
