Evening everyone, oh blimey i think you are going to get fed up with me saying this over and over but arrrgghh this blooming year already, DD2 absolutely full of cold, can barely speak, chesty came over to drop thumper off this morning crying, the roof has sprung a leak and will cost them hundreds/thousands, its leaking in thumpers room so he has to be moved tonight into their room, Thumper starts being poorly again with chesty cough and runny nose, DS has a sore throat, white spots and every time he coughs he can taste blood (cough has been 2 mths now, i think white spots may be tonsillitus so he has drs appt tomorrow and poor DD1 is trying to avoid everyone as she has an op on tuesday to have 4 wisdom teeth and another tooth out so really doesnt need to go down with anything :rotfl:oh then the best bit i broke my bed  its a superkingsize one and i have one side and the travel cot sits on the other, well i climbed up to get thumper after his nap and must have trod on the edge and crack! So now i am going to have to try and see if i can swap sides without it breaking anymore
:D

Hi lovely people.
Free! it never rains but it pours!Stupid question but does your daughter have house insurance? It might be covered, you never know.In a previous house the landing ceiling fell down in the night.( I thought son had fallen off the top bunk again! opened my bedroom door to smokey rubble so shut it again and went back to bed till morning)I was amazed that the insurance paid no quibble.
JJ I am sure you are helping those ladies in ways that medicine doesn't.:heartsmil:heartsmil
FF I so wish I was with you on the home straight in the kitchen.
I cried last night. The back door is now bricked up.The kitchen out.Back to a complete dirty mess once again. The joiner tells me he can't refit the kitchen as it must have been second hand when fitted and everything was held together with glue!!!!!!!!So looking at cheap kitchens, have calmed down a bit now.Canada is looking further and further away.
Today I am camped out in my bedroom, the plasterer is working on the stairs and landing, builder knocking a wall down in the garden because the bricks match for the outside door blocking. He couldnt find matching ones at the reclamation yard. His lad and the joiner are taking the floor up in the kitchen and hall.
I gave the oven and hob away last night on fb.
My car and the sitting room are stuffed with boxes of kitchen stuff.I think I must be getting too old for this much disruption, dirt and noise.
Sorry for venting.
Christmas wise i have added a few ideas to my gift list.

Oh free, big hugs lovely! Fingers crossed the bed side swap mission is a success
As Vulpix said, get your DD to check the insurance! I hope everyone is soon on the mend in your house.
If you don't get round to making the banana bread chuck them in the freezer. Yes the skin goes black and they come out really, really squidgy BUT this consistency is perfect in cakes and it seems to enhance the flavour a bitWe always seem to have one or two left over at the end of the week and so I shove them in the freezer until I have enough/time to bake

Oh Vulpix you poor lovely. I have heard a lot of adverts for kitchen sales this year. A friendly word of caution though, steer clear of both wren and b&q. My cousin is currently fighting wren as they advertised the wrong kitchen upgrades (larders etc) in the wrong kitchen specs and when they ordered them they don't fit but wren are being a nightmare about accepting fault and the local store still has the kitchen displays mixed up! Plus the kitchen was supposed to be delivered fully by early November and they are still waiting for parts! There are a lot of bad reviews on here about B&Q. Their quality and after-care services are supposed to be awful. We went with Wickes and are very happy with the qualityGood luck my lovely and try to focus on the end result xxx

Well we got back to the miserable British weather yesterday evening and I still have today off work so that I could get to Tesco etc and get some of the washing on and ironing done so it’s a relaxed start back to work tomorrow for 3 days and then another weekend :rotfl: The holiday was wonderful albeit very cold (we got to -37C at one point for 2 days) and we did get to see the northern lights too so it was brilliant. Back to reality now….
Msgigglewick – hope your DD is now feeling much better and less sore – I didn’t realise that netball could be that dangerous lol
Freespirit – glad you took the time to have a little TLC and look after yourself. Sometimes that’s what we all need to do just to get ourselves back on track although I know it’s hard when there are so many other demands on your time.
Pinksteps – hope the neurologist can do some more investigating and find an answer for your and your DS’s sakes. Just hang in there. Lol at your comment re Jess and the hospital!
Jess – I had originally written get well soon then saw your update. The things you have had to go through would make a lesser woman give up years ago. You never seem to let it get you down for long. Hoping they get you the super wizzy new shunt so you can pick up your ‘normal’ life again with your postponed Christmas.
MrsI – I got that same email and I must say I’m not particularly impressed with them. How can a massive company like Tesco not be able to find savings somewhere and keep C&C free – especially since like you say a lot of other places do that have smaller operations than Tesco.
Firemunchkin – welcome! That all sounds like a good start and you can refine your plans over the year as you go along. The way I save on Christmas is to buy things over the year as I see them so I’m not forced to pay inflated prices in December. Obviously a lot of that depends on who you’re having to buy for though and I would always buy electronics as late as possible for the guarantees etc.
Pickleinapouch – welcome! No more lurking for you now…
Vulpix – it’s difficult when there’s dust and mess everywhere but try and focus on the end result (I should really take my own advice sometimes..). It will eventually all be over and your house will get back to normal with a shiny new kitchen.0 -
Afternoon everyone, just a quickie while thumper is asleep, i managed to talk DD2 into going home this morning for a day in bed, she was so ill and earache had started, crikey she took some convincing a) s*d work and b) she felt as if she was using me by dropping thumper off and going home jeez im his nana :rotfl:anyway she did and it made me feel better too, im sorry but she puts herself out so much for work for blo*dy nothing in return and she has to toughen up with them!
VULPIX oh my lovely i am the same i love the planning and the buying of new house bits to renovate/decorate but the mess and things going wrong always get me right down, nothing ever goes to plan does it?? But just think when it is all over and you will have the most gorgeous kitchen to suit your tastes, it will definitely all be worth it in the end!
FEISTY yes i already do that they are perfect for baking with arent they??? Thankyou x

Hi Im back- been a hectic few days over the weekend.
Jess- fingers crossed this new shunt will be possible and will solve the recurring problems. You never cease to amaze me with your approach to your illnesses- you really are a wonder woman! Hpe you and your mom can get to enjoy a mini belated Christmas sooner rather than later.
Feisty- how's the pregnancy going now? Hope you have managed to rest more than rush x
Free- your poor kids (and you) x. As others have said get her to check her insurance, and importantly get her to obtain 2 or 3 quotes- you hear so many horror stories of cowboys out there. Oh dear about the bed- hope you can get it sorted. My kids 'go to' illness is tonsillitis- not nice. Hope your DS gets antibiotics into him soon.
Vulpix- pics look great but I know what you mean about not being able to stand the mess. I recommend Magnet for the kitchen- they are a bit expensive but they are built to last if you intend to stay there.
Pinksteps- hope they can get DS sorted soon- its a a bloomin nightmare the rigmarole they are putting you though x
Mrs I- Im with you- bu**er Tesco now that they are introducing the charge!
Newbies- Welcome! Don't go back into lurkdom- we are a nice bunch!
Peppa- have you got all your apple gadgets sorted?
Right Im off to have some tea- am absolutely STARVING for some reason! SW style!Jacket potato, 30 g hard cheese and home made coleslaw- I am dribbling!lovin' this site!
:j0 -
Thanks FREE and MURIE. The good news is that DD sorted out the phone and iPad and they're both back to normal. I spoke to the Apple help people this morning and they've confirmed there's a problem with the control so I've got an appointment at the Apple shop on Monday morning when they'll either fix or replace it so thankfully it should all be sorted.
FREE so sorry to hear about all the problems your poor family are suffering at the mo. The advice the others have given sounds good to me. Hope DD2 felt a bit better after her rest - work is important but health much more so and in my experience you don't get any better thought of for struggling in when you really feel poorly.
LAZYSHEEP I am so jealous - I would love to see the Northern Lights. If DH ever gets to the point where he feels well enough to travel abroad again that's goi g to be my first stop lolIt's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
My sittingroom looks like one of those homes on hoarder programmes.I swear as I unpack it all I shall be ruthless and get rid of loads.
Thanks for all the support. We have been out looking at kitchens today, mainly to get out of the house, its warmer and cleaner in shops.Howdens are looking favourite as they have it all in stock. The plan was to do this house up by spending no more than K20 and then sell. Will have to economise in the garden to fund the kitchen.I have rashly organised a house party for 30th,perhaps it should be a decorating party.
I hope everyone is on the mend if poorly Vx:0 -
Evening everyone, DS has to go for a chest x ray as the dr thinks the cough has been hanging around for too long, and especially with him tasting blood she wants to it checked out, and she thinks the throat infection/tonsillitus is on the mend now and said that whatever he is doing, he is doing well! Well DD2 had the worst throat ever at the weekend she seriously said she didnt think she had had worse and was so desperate she took a teaspoon of aloe vera jelly and she said it was like a miracle it instantly helped with the pain so she brought some over for DS this afternoon and he couldnt believe it, it worked and in double quick time! So i know what i am ordering off of her to keep in the cupboard, i am also going to try aloe vera gel for my ibs and fibromyalgia as i have read some good reports on the internet
LAZYSHEEP im so glad you got to see the lights, its always a worry when they say you might not get to see them, glad you had a fab time! Iceland and the Northern Lights are an incentive to me as my DS said if i lose x amount of stones by my birthday he will treat me, but the way i am going it wont happen
MURIE DD2s OH just paid for a temporary fix for now, and they are going to save up to have the rest done, they were worried about the insurance premiums going up i thinkOh blimey the bed saga, it was awful im too old to have to scramble out of bed with my pains and boy did i hurt this morning, it wouldnt be so bad if i wasnt up gawd knows how many times a night p**ing :rotfl:So DS has moved it all around again tonight and it will mean i only have to shuffle down my mattress, we will see......
PEPPAPIG nope she doesnt get any better thought of, the amount of quality time she misses with thumper for them makes me so mad, she only had christmas day and boxing day off, worked continually from then on BH, weekends and NYE and NYD (accounts dept in an office) and yesterday they couldnt even send her home a few hours early, they could see she was struggling, well i hope they all catch it!!
VULPIX you sound a lot brighter tonight honey, glad you got out to clear your head with it all!
