FREE you're quiet, hope that's just because you're busy and not because you're poorly. Sending positive vibes your way. X

QVC are doing their Christmas countdown today - not sure why they've changed to doing it on 23rd. Don't think I can be bothered to watch it though, I'm just off QVC now it's all the same old thing :(
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
  • Morning all :D
We're down to 93 days to go now, 13 weeks left on Sunday
Welcome newbies...we're all slightly Christmas crazy here :)
I popped into Superdrug this morning and they have a small Christmas confectionery section too...I got all stupidly excited :o
Thank you Newthrift and Feisty, I really enjoyed the karting yesterday, I was in the top half of the group! Whilst the feminist in me didn't want to accept it - I got a medal for being the top girl too :D
PrincessKitty I think if I'd have been like James May I wouldn't ache all over today! Unfortunately I get in a go kart and think I'm Mika Hakkinen lol the halloween plans sounds like they're coming along nicely
Newthrift a cake and 50 cupcakes, how do you find the time?! I've rolled out all of the wintery yankee melts now - I find yankee candles quite expensive (even though they do last a long time) whereas the melts basically never end...although I'm sure at some point the smell will fade
GettingThereQuickly - sorry to hear you've got shingles, I suppose the only plus is at least you have a diagnosis for it now, hope you can get it all sorted and recovered quickly :)
Chrissy, I'd definitely count prawn pringles as a great success :p
Sammy, hearing about your dogs did make me laugh lol and try not to dwell on the figure on the scales too much - I know at slimming world that's kind of the point! For me it's more about feeling more comfortable in my clothes
Clumsy, well done on starting your Christmas shopping...I need to get cracking too really
I've just been told that if you have a new £5 note starting with AA they are going for up to £800 on ebay! and I have one :D:D:D:D so if you have one don't spend it!
Walked past Next this morning and they have a 50% off sale going on, not as big as their usual end of season sales but might be worth picking up some presents
The dreaded laser eye surgery is tomorrow...I should be back to report how it's gone on Monday, wish me luck!
    I'm dreaming... of a white Christmas :snow_grin :xmassmile:rudolf:
  • Welcome to the new christmasaholics in the thread
GTQ hope your shingles aren't too painful and clear ASAP, I had it around my knee a couple of years ago, very strange feeling - ached and itched like the devil. Dr said they'd never see di tin that position before.

    Hope everyone is well.
Just finished my current paperback, very tempted to start the Christmas reads soon.

  • Morning!

Gettingtherequickly - That sounds nasty. Hope it clears up soon! :(

elliew8 - Hope the surgery goes well. Might be something I consider one day if my eyes never stop getting worse! :rotfl:

Earrings for my friend arrived today. They are adorable and came in a little plastic macaron gift box. Not sure if the box is quite suitable but I've got plenty of time to decide. :T

Currently scouring the internet for a nice dress for graduation. I'm too fussy! :rotfl:

Might be off to a garden centre/craft shop this afternoon so that'll be nice. Right, I'm off to chop carrot sticks for lunch.

  • Not sure if they are up yet but PetShop.co.uk always start to do great deals around this time of year. I always buy my stuff from them over Black Friday and get my pets some nice treats and throw in a bit of food as well. Sales section here if you want to look

  • 04624181 sounds great about selling on things to save for the new bike. I find my children go through phases and we can never foresee what they're going to like 6 months down the line. I can never predict which toys they will get the most out of!

Peppapig - do you mind me asking what the Santa Paws Project is? Sounds like it might be fun.

Patentgirl - are you making bath bombs? It's something I was planning to try this year as gifts for teachers etc.

    elliew8 - Good luck

Mrs- Moneypenny - I am holding off on Christmas reads...I have a stack of library books to finish off.

Clumsy42 - I do love garden centres for crafty bits but unless I go with a list, I spend a fortune.

Pollymac - I had some great Black Friday bargains last year. The only thing is that it's about 4 weeks from Christmas. And I like to be more organised than that. But I tend to get lots of stocking as opposed ot main presents then.

I am looking at crackers right now. I've always thought they are a waste of money as the bits inside tend to end up in the bin within a week. There is a cool looking handbell set which I know we would have fun with over Christmas but they are about £23...Last year I bought a John Lewis lot - £12 fo 6 and a cheapo lot from Home Bargains - 12 for £4. Both were as much fun. maybe I should DIY?
  • Afternoon all

Sorry I have been a bit AWOL lately. Busy working, busy cooking, busy slimming - although I dont think I have ever eaten this much food in my life :eek:and generally still being ill. This cold is seriously not moving - to the point Im considering going to the doctors monday morning. I made the mistake of eating bread this morning too after 2 days of not having it and my stomach is bloated and uncomfortable so think that is a no go zone now for me! Cant eat cheese, bread, caffeine or chocolate and I dont drink - Ill wait for you all to swear at me later.

on the christmas front I managed to shoot myself in the foot slightly..... Holly my little one wanted one of these interact Koa Koala things - it talks, eats, burps and is a room gaurd thing to the nice price of £59.99  so me in my wisdom thought well I wonder if she would be content with a Furby as it doesn the same thing - interacts, plays, speaks etc and they are funky colours - she chose herself a Furby Boom which interacts with her through her tablet.......£64.99! Fudgecakes. And oh no shes not happy with any furby - no it has to be the one that no sod in south wales seems to stock and has to be the rainbow one.............note to self - should of got the koala

I have all weekend off work now and my wedding anniversary is Monday so if you see the devil walking round its because Hell has finally frozen over and Im in a dress :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Still havent started the Snow Challenge either - need to get my act together!

    WELCOME ALL NEWBIES!

GTQ - Get Well soon lovely

Peppa - how is your santa paws project coming along?

0462 - Good Luck with the new job lovely - I think I have missed where it is but I hope it settles and you enjoy it.

Feisty - thanks hun - I know this week has been manic with the 3 for 2 - we had a lady in earlier who has pre brought over 40 items!:eek::eek::eek: crazy! and with only a few staff it was all hands on deck - I ended up finishing my shift nearly 20 minutes later because it hit a busy patch and I didnt want to abandon my workmates - I love it though - roll on Xmas!

ellieW - good luck with the laser surgery hun - I had a £5 note the other day before it was announced their worth! Doh! Apparently too if you have a new note and the numbers are in sequence - like 1234 then it is work a fair bit too.

Clumsy - Im also looking for a dress too! I saw some nice ones in Peacocks though and a nice shift dress in New Look so might be going there for mine - also I find craft/garden centres lethal! I want everything!

Treasure - are you making bath bombs? i did it in a parenting group down the school and it was so easy and made from natural things - fab gifts too - also good for getting little people involved in the making. Also thanks for the heads up about pet stuff in Wilkos - I have a rather fat cat to buy for this christmas

Gwendolyn - good grief - 40 presents!:eek::eek: i thought my familys was bad and I have about 20 to buy for but thats two families!

MrsMoney - looking forward to the christmas read reviews! Im going to look forward to an Xmas book and a hot chocolate cuddled up in front of a fire. Have you read any previously youd recommend? Im not keen on mushy stuff though

PollyMac - i had my husband a Dulce Gusto coffee machine in the BFS - it was ment to be £119 reduced down to £40 - good chance Ill be working it this year (oh how I love that day! Not!) but I will still be on the lookout for a bargain as he wants a Go Pro this year! Which reminds me - what date is black Friday this year?

Right off now to make soup for tea - I had a disasterous lunch - in my wisdom decided to be money saving and use spag bol I had made and left over rice - added some cajun spice to the mince mix as a sort of chilli - except I didnt pay any attention to how much spice I put in as I was multitasking and playing with the dog :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: I cant do spice - even a Korma is a bit tangy for me so you can well imagine my school run pain this afternoon! Explains the dodgy stomach though! Good grief!

    Lots of Christmas Love All
    Sammy x
