(vent) that time of year again

It would appear to me that there has either been a miss communication regarding picking up your son, or a breakdown in communication between you and your wife regarding this matter.
I think you both need to talk.
regards
not really.
i always pick the eldest up in between xmas & NY
he was unsure of his dates, my wife could pick any 1 day off a week or so before but i said at the time i didn't know, so its just turned out that the best day to pick son up was also wifes day off
and nobody knew at the time.
could leave it another day but then i'm back at work so therefore less quality time with the son i rarely see.
hope that makes sense0 -
Seems a bit of s*d's law to me. It just had to happen that the day she'd chosen coincided with the date for picking up son. I can see why she'd be a bit fed up when another day would be more convenient but, particularly bearing in mind that a working day for her leaves plenty of free time, I think she should just live with it.
Perhaps have a conversation, tell her you're sorry it's worked out this way and promise that next year you'll try to get dates from son as early as possible before she has to commit to her day off.
To be honest, with her very limited working hours, I think she's being selfish. There must be loads of time all through the year when you and she can be together which isn't the case with you and your sons. Probably not tactful to point that out though;).0 -
there is loads of time for us, even over xmas, alone together or with family,
she'd planned tomorrow off to go out tonight so neither would be driving tomorrow.
she did ask a couple of weeks ago which day to book off and i clearly said i didn't know, and sarcastically said book 5 days off.
obviously we are now staying in tonight and to make things worse, son isn't too well, not gone to work today and may not be coming up tomorrow either!
that is s*ds law!0
