Struggling to contact seller

Hi

I purchased a ferrero roche bouquet on 10th December for my mum from a seller on ebay who does not sell a great deal but has 100% fb.

I received the usual ebay confirmation but no communication from seller. It states on the page delivery by Hermes approx 22nd -24th.

I have sent 2 messages asking if it has been sent and no reply. Hermes have delivered a parcel today so only have tomorrow left and left and I am getting concerned.

What is the next step if if doesn't arrive for Xmas? I didn't want to jump the gun and file a claim.

Thanks

Xx

Hermes is tracked - have they marked it as despatched and provided a tracking number ? If not file an INR.

No, still saying not dispatched. No tracking either.

Gutted to be let down as i ordered on 10th December.

    Oh well :(
  • Also it won't let me open INR as date states 22-24. It's just annoying I cannot contact them so hanging about incase I miss the delivery :(

You can always open an inr via paypal instead if you wanted to.

It doesn't matter when you ordered it, what matters is how long the seller states it will take to dispatch. If ebay have estimated 22-24th then seller must have set a long dispatch time to allow for the ebay estimates being too generous- perhaps they even have to make to order and so need a few days to dispatch?

As you are still within the ebay estimates you can't open an INR (as you have found out) until Friday.

Before the new 'late' metrics I would have said that seller was at fault for not just adding the tracking to the listing when he sent it, as that can now result in an unwarranted late mark I no longer blame sellers who prefer not to add tracking. However, I would have hoped any seller would be happy to supply tracking when specifically asked by the buyer. Perhaps you could call up seller's telephone number and call him and ask him to send the tracking so at least you have an idea roughly where it is.

Not aiming this at you OP, but ebay appear to encourage buyers to assume delivery dates when buying rather than factor in the buyers dispatch times, and that's why I decided to turn off my shop early. I wouldn't even risk going for a long dispatch, as buyers still believe it will arrive when they want it to.

Even though it is not yet late? That seems a bit unfair on the seller.

  • Its the fact that i have had not one piece of communication. Also no answer to any messages.

I cannot find any contact details so will have to speak to ebay for them.

I have checked and I was left positive feedback on 12th for immediate payment.

I just find it odd to leave delivery until xmas eve knowing what couriers can be like at Xmas.

Not holding much hope now :(
  • Also I am sure the seller knows this is an Xmas gift as it is wrapped in red and gold and specifically states Xmas gifts in the listing. It also says order before 21st December for Xmas delivery.

I ordered in plenty of time on 10th December. Surely you can see why I am getting concerned?

    Thanks for the replies

Again though, the delivery estimate from ebay suggests that this was always likely to be this late, just because someone is still selling doesn't mean that they assume everything they sell is definitely for Christmas. The ebay estimate is set according to the time seller states for dispatch (plus in my case ebay seem to shave at least a day off of that as well)

I confess that I have my listings off entirely for this reason, I might not necessarily be selling things for Christmas day but I can't always expect my buyers to realise that.

Another thought is that assuming this is a business seller (as they would need to be if making these to sell) then you will have the option of a no hassle return and refund if it does arrive late.
