  • #6 reporting a November overpayment of £500 making £7,350 for the year to date. Fantastic when you think that our target was £7k. Still going to do December's one but not sure how next year will pan out what with the baby due in 2 weeks. Has anyone been able to still manage over payments when on maternity leave?

After the low rates on the TSB account etc, I decided to quit my "extra" emergency fund i was holding on to and pay it off - another £2,000.00 for me.

I just wrote on my blog that I am near my 10% overpayment ceiling so have two more £1k shaped overpayments in Nov and Dec, after that I can only OP £400 or so more...

    Baby Step 1 - £1k Emergency Fund - COMPLETE
Baby Step 2 - Pay off all debts except the Mortgage - £9,326 to go
Baby Step 3 - Save 6 months of expenses into full Emergency Fund - £4,300 to go

Baby Step 4 - Put 15% into Pension
Baby Step 6 - Pay off the Mortgage early
    Baby Step 7 - Live like no-one else :D

  • Hi,

A £30 OP for this month to declare.
Not much but better than nothing ( I keep telling myself)
Would like to pay more but we have just paid for the fee to transfer our mortgage rate upfront and also looks like we need a new boiler.... Aargh! Thanks goodness for emergency savings posts so I daren't throw too much at the mortgage at the moment.

Thanks for keeping us ticking along Lomcevak

    Spreadsheet updated.

San Francisco was awesome, had enough spare time for a dawn run in beautiful warm sunshine from Fisherman's wharf to the Golden Gate bridge, over to the other side and back before carrying on past Baker Beach, around Land's End and back up the length of Golden Gate park. About 15 miles of total magic, probably the best run of my life :D

Now trying to figure out how to go back again ;)

Sundaysgirl - well done on becoming mortgage free, even if only briefly. Good luck with the new place :)
Has anyone been able to still manage over payments when on maternity leave?
Mrs_Rachael_Trelfa - quite a few years now, but what worked for us was to keep the OP habit going but drop the amount when finances were a bit tighter during maternity leave. Felt good to drop a cheque off each month even if it wasn't for much.
no 102 with an extra £155 for Oct and £1269 for Oct please. Rather excitingly this means we have paid over 50% of the mortgage and it's all downhill from here - woohoo
twistedhazel - assume that's £1269 for Nov not Oct?

But well done on hitting the 50%, that prompted me to take a look at my own spreadsheet...

Prompted by twistedhazel's post, I discovered that my standard £600 November OP had taken me to just £120.53 from hitting the halfway point in my own mortgage, so just logged in to online banking myself and fixed that - that makes an £720.54 OP for November, and I'm £114,500.01 repaid, £114,499.99 to go :D

    #22 here

September OP of £555.03 and £530.03 so far for October.

    Hi All,

Can I amend October to £615.30 and add £789.20 for November.

By my maths that makes £6469.53/ £6000 (108%) and I should be able to make £7000 by the end of the year :j
