Congratulations and good news that your little boy is gaining weight. If your local midwife support team will cover you it is possible to take a tube feeding infant home with you providing you are confident with dealing with the tube. My son in law and daughter did that when their little girl was too sleepy to feed after being born too early. The tube soon came out once she started getting stronger but this may avoid the need for the long daily journey every day and your local team will support you at home by coming in every day and being available for back up in case the tube comes out. The hospital gave my daughter and son in law training on all sorts of things before coming home with their baby, not only tube feeding. They were in there a week first though.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks for all the well wishes.
We spent most of christmas day in the hospital, took some presents to open, and had a lovely time. We then went home for an evening meal.
Twin 2 is still in hospital, so we are still making the daily trip back and forth. I am dreading today, as the traffic will pick up again making it a very long journey due to roadworks! Ds1 is being amazing, given spending 4-5 hours a day in hospital isnt his idea of fun.
Twin 2 is making good progress though, and is now gaining weight. he just needs to feed himself rather than being reliant on tube feeds And then hopefully can come home!
All i do is express milk, feed babies, go back and forth to the hospital, and occasionally remember to eat and sleep! Surviving though!
Oh, that is good news Pinks. Children are often a lot more strong and resourceful than we give them credit for, I think.
Good on DS1 - good things are clearly going on in that young l'il head of his. 😊
I know the travelling is tedious - I have no kids, but have been in the same situation with my mum (the rat-b.st.rd Big C. Twice.) and my little Gisele (dog). Believe me, when twin2/Pinkshoe3, is home every moment of travelling - even the traffic tedium - will have been worth it, and a minor price to pay. Every yard of road travelled is an honour to his spirit and survival.
Keep smiling Pinkshoes, it'll be ok. Keep us posted with progress on the weeny wuns...! ☺ xxx0 -
Congratulations pinkshoes! Have only just seen this thread; the twins will now be nearly 2 weeks old?
Nothing to add to the comments except it's time for you to be selfish and put your kids and your own needs first - not that a constant cycle of feeding and nappy changing could ever be considered to be a selfish activity! Don't let the in-laws spoil this special time for you.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
