liquids

If you have a health condition that you need to take liquids. ..can you take them on hand luggage? Talking 500ml on non glass.

Never thought to ask. Always pay extra to check in luggage .would save me time and money.

I take small liquid on board like a eye drop in clear bag. ..but that's it.

  • This is what the NHS says.

If it's not prescription then buy it at the chemist after security.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

    Heathrow has this....http://www.heathrow.com/more/help-with-this-website/faqs/security-and-baggage#Medicines
most other airports will have similar on their sites

Briefly over 100ml is fine for liquid medication with a doctors letter/copy of prescription IF that quantity is required for the duration of the flight. Otherwise you take what you need for the flight in the hand luggage and the rest in the hold
  • I wouldn't need to use any of it during the flight. ..so guess I need to pay extra. Shame.

As previously mentioned - is it not available at the pharmacy once you've gone through Security?

Or couldn't you buy it when tyou get to your destination?

Either might be a cheaper option than paying for hold luggage.
  • No. It's on prescription

Which is fine if you're going somewhere for a month, but if it's a short trip then you just face the same issue when returning. And you might have to pay for a private prescription if your normal one has already been dispensed.

They're unlikely to have the full quantity and I don't want to risk being without for the sake of £30 baggage
  • What will you do if your checked luggage is misplaced or delayed?

Despite what the airports websites tell you it is not a good idea to put essential medication in your checked luggage. I've no idea what quantity of liquid you're talking about, but I know of someone who always takes all her meds in her hand luggage. She never checks luggage, like thousands of others, and they manage to take their prescription liquid meds with them without issue (with a copy of the script which you should always take with you anyway).

Get 5 x 100ml bottles from your regular chemist?
Empties if necessary and get them to label them.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
