  • Nsd 3 over here.
Not done an awful lot today, some volunteering at foodbank warehouse and one of the guys bought me a fruit tea (does that count as a free thing?) And I resisted the calling of yummy food from the farm shop/deli as I have plenty of food in at the moment, and I'm obviously not eating enough fresh fruit and veg as I'm not desperate to buy it every other day!

GSRCAT - you are welcome if you want to post for support but won't expect lots of updates as it sounds like you have a lot on. You are NST 41.

Lindor - of course. NST 42.

Out of interest is anyone 4 for 4 at this point? have seen a few of you with 3 NSDs

ccl – I once said ‘p****d off’ in front of a class and they still talk about it 5 years later!
dolly – that’s hilarious about your art teacher. Your shepherd’s pie sounds gorgeous, will pinch that idea if that’s ok?
TOG – how did it go?
calling – well done on donating blood
Regarding the topic of SFDs, for me the point of this challenge is to reduce my spending and improve my spending habits, and so everything except direct debits, standing orders and the regular payment to the dog walker count as spends. Our original leader, Ninja Saving Kat, was really good at taking us all to task on any spends and was so frugal with her spends. I think everyone has the right to decide what counts as a SFD for themselves, however I would ask you all to question if you keep making exceptions, then is this helping you. I understand that for some people SFDs are no use as they need to spend small amounts regularly for various reasons and that these have no impact on their spending habits, but for most people psychology shows that if you go into a shop for one item, you are highly likely to come out with more than one.
Today was SFD number 4 J and my first day back at work went well. Did lots of steps and have ate quite healthily again J
Hope all the teachers, and anyone else going back today, had a food first day back.

    Evening all :)
Thought I had better check in. Didn't manage another NSD, as I had a (much needed) haircut appointment, and went to the supermarket for the first time since 23 December. Still, I only bought what was on my list - potatoes, tomatoes, a cucumber, bananas and some batteries for the TV remote. I really wanted some lettuce as well, but didn't like the look of what was there :( I will have to try to get some tomorrow at the market, though this means another spend day...

Managed to use up more stuff from the fridge, I had the rest of yesterday's Caesar salad for lunch, and used the rest of the pot of cream that was left over from Christmas and had been frozen, a hard bit of parmesan, the end of a cheese whose name I don't know, and most of what remains of last week's milk for macaroni cheese for dinner :))

What is a SFD by the way? :o

Sfd is a spend free day I believe.

My nsd3 was completed today. Doing this challenge monthly makes me think about when I buy things n trying to do it all in one day to cut down on petrol etc.

Interesting to see how many teachers r on here.

    Hi everyone!

NSD 3 here. It was a close call as we went for a walk to get some fresh air which took us past the local bakery. Despite the calls from the yummy looking cream cakes, we resisted knowing we still have Christmas pud, custard and cheesecake at home that all need using up.

I have made a big decision today and if it all works out I will pay off the big credit card next month as my 0% deal ends on 1 March. It will mean not paying my spending card in full over this month and next (but still paying above minimum to it). However, once the big card has gone I should be able to hammer down the spending card in no time. For my plan to work, I need to find £300. I do have £225 in savings but would really like to be able to keep this for next Christmas. I have listed some more items for sale and am doing every survey that comes into my inbox.

I will have to keep my budgets really tight over the next few months but I hope this will be manageable. I am going shopping tomorrow as I am desperate for new shoes, jeans and maybe some items for work. But, this is coming form money put aside that I was given as a gift when leaving my old work place. I am also going to nip into our local supermarket and see if they have any post Christmas bargains left - have seen a few people picking up bargain turkeys etc, which would really help with next months budget.

    Feeling determined!

Well went to give blood and failed. So maddening iron levels need to be 125 and mine was 124. So they wouldn't take it. Nevermind its not that low I need iron tablets, so will try again in 3 months time.

I feel bit today flat today, didn't sleep well last night probably not helping.

I need to clear cc1 £730 by March and cc2 £1300 by May 0%deal ends then. Going to tight few months determined not to do any more balance transfers. Then I going have a month off debt busting and have a wee holiday - visit relatives cheap one.

Welshkitty will be fighting with you for cheap turkeys in the aisle anything to save some cash.

Bob I have 4/4 sfd. Are we getting gold stars;-)

welshkitty - sounds like you've got a good plan there! and well done on resisting the temptation of the bakery!

calling - isn't annoying when you want to give blood and can't. I have tricky veins and my blood refuses to come out easily, so it's too much hassle and takes too long for me to be allowed to donate :( A cheap holiday sounds like a good idea :)

bob and calling - are we getting gold stars?!?! I'm on 4/4 :j

Hi, hope I'm not too late to join

Have been reading through the thread and think I could benefit from this challenge (along with the others I have joined) and everyone's support.

We don't have a lot of debt but we do have a lot of things we want/need this year so any extra income/savings would be a huge help towards that.
