My birthday is boxing day. My birthday is not 28 December.
Except when your birthday is a Sunday..
...
It is always your birthday on St Stephens Day and on the 26th.. but not always on Boxing Day

Deliberate typo in the title, yes?

Well, the automatic calendar on my mobile says 25/12 is Christmas Day, 26/12 is Boxing Day & 28/12 is Bank Holiday.0

I agree, I think OP has got confused with the Sunday rule. IIRC, boxing day is the day after Christmas day, only exception being when boxing day lands on the Sunday and boxing day would be Monday 27th. It can't fall on the day of rest. On the other hand, I don't think this is observed in reality, I remember it happening a good few years back and some folk laughing at me for saying it so I would assume that most folk just mean 26th when they say boxing day, regardless.0 -

A bit harsh, don't you think?pickledonionspaceraider wrote: »Is there a 'most boring thread of the year' competition? Can I make a nomination
The OP clearly thought that as her friend had made a mistake about a Boxing day invitation, it was worth mentioning.
I've read far more boring threads and much more stupid threads on MSE throughout the year.0 -
Hang on I thought Boxing Day was on the 17th of December?I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite

I recently started working for a company that is open over christmas. I was told shifts that fall on christmas and boxing day are covered on a volunteer basis. All other shifts just follow the normal rota. So as a new person i thought id do my bit and volunteer to work christmas day. However as 26th isnt the boxing day bank holiday its classed as a normal working day. Im now therefore working christmas day and what i would call boxing day. So yes there is some confusion, as my employer obviously doesnt class 26th as boxing day, to them its monday, 28th0

Well the 26th is still Boxing day and Monday a Bank Holiday so you can smugly correct him
