I've read so many great reviews of Bulb here and am wondering if the fact they only do a variable tariff will mean if we switch to them, we'all eventually lose out.

Wondering if anyone has any advice?

Hi, if you're interested you can read more about Bulb's price principles here: https://community.bulb.co.uk/discussion/comment/1472

A variable tariff allows us to pass on cost savings to our members quickly (and we've done 7 price drops in the last two years). If costs go up we may have to increase our rates but we'll try and hold off as long as we can, and you always get 30 days notice. There's no exit fee if you wish to leave.

Just initiated the switch from Flow who have been one of the most inept and frustrating companies I have ever dealt with.

I'll update the forum on my experiences with Bulb as and when.

Welcome to Bulb! We'll try our very best to impress :)

Maybe could have 2 phone options (0300 and geographic).

Calls to 0300 cost the same as it does to a normal landline - so it is included most plans. I'll pass your feedback for a second option onto the team!

    Hope this helps!

Not feedback so apologies, and didn't want to start yet another thread, but I've recently moved and need to swtich and bulb comes up tops on money saving through a comparison site and I'm attracted by the renewables promise.

I note that much of the feedback is regarding ease of switch, and I understand that bulb are fairly new in the energy field, but wondering if anyone has feedback having been with bulb for a period of time. I'm really thinking about efficiency in billing etc rather than price. I've been in the past with eon and n power and various other biggies and don't want to repeat the horror I've experienced with most.

    Thanks.

I'm on the standard prepayment, not direct debit. the money comes out once a month (I think you can choose the date someone from bulb can confirm) which is a fixed amount, and your bill is emailed once a month, and that shows how much credit you have along with everything else.
I think they require you to do a meter reading every 3 months, but I'm doing it once a month which is simple enough via their website.
as far as responsiveness goes they've been really good I had an error when first switching over caused by my old utility and they were useless, bulb sorted it out. and then this month I submitted the wrong meter reading :(. sent an email with the correct meter reading and they got back within 24 hours saying it was sorted.
I've also had occasion to ring them and it was nearly straight through to an adviser. this was in the middle of the day, but I was pleasantly surprised, especially as they're a small company currently at the top of the best buy tables so i'm guessing they're taking on extra customers at the moment.

Yep. You can choose your date yourself, no problem at all. You can log into your account online and do it there, or get in touch and we'll do it for you.

    Just switched from BG collective.
Loving the £50 credit from the numerous referrals available.

Fingers crossed the switch goes smoothly but the signs so far are encouraging.

Why switch now and not wait until the very last moment as that means you are paying extra from now until 3rd Oct?

i figured the switch could take 17 days worst case, which leaves only a few days that I've cut short the collective and didn't want to risk 'slipping' onto BGs standard tariff

You would not have slipped on to the BG standard tariff. It doesn't work like that. Provided that BG was informed by the new supplier that a transfer was in progress no later than 20 days AFTER the end of your fixed tariff (contract end date plus 20 days), then you would have had tariff price protection until such time as your transfer went through.
